the issue was that he had all the right policies. That’s what stings. As I said, most of us were willing to look the other way for a few transgressions so long as he asserted that he was a different person than he was before. This accusation was just a different beast entirely and couldn’t be downplayed or ignored. Also it really was the last straw.

I do feel you but there’s fighting dirty like them and then there is abandoning our standards. If we abandon our principles than we are no better than they are.

we were willing to believe the narrative that such people could be redeemed. He seemed genuinely to find distaste in his past actions and was openly repentant. That’s what makes this mildly infuriating because this is the bridge too far. He’s spot on on the issues, seemed humble and well spoken. To put a pin in the r4pe allegations for a second, the larger issue is that he CAN get blackout drunk and then do things he can’t even remember. Drunk posting on reddit before the modpocalypse is one thing, but if those things include SA? Yeah, we have to make the hard pass now. There’s a line, man.

Unfortunately this seems 100% credible. Her therapist and another ex boyfriend are both corroborating the allegations. The woman even said she shares his politics. I’m not mad at her bravely coming out with this but the timing is rather suspicious. She should have spoken up a year ago, or at the very least ahead of the primary. There’s a guy we can slide over to, he’s known and vetted in the state (Troy Jackson, who’s a logger by trade), but he has about as much charisma as a grilled cheese sandwich. Also he’s almost retirement age.

- Comment on Bill to raise minimum wage to $25 an hour will be introduced in Senate 3 days ago:
oh, I’m not suggesting that we stop trying, but if we solve the underlying issues that cause the need for Minimum wage increases, they will be necessary less often, or, even be able to be reduced with no ill effects to overall cost of living. It’s not a zero sum game, and there are many factors at play. Focussing only on one aspect will never SOLVE the problem, merely kick the can down the road.
- Comment on Bill to raise minimum wage to $25 an hour will be introduced in Senate 4 days ago:
Minimum wage means nothing without a Maximum wage. Business owners will never give themselves a pay cut to give you a pay raise. They’ll pass it on to the consumer and then we’ll be right back to the beginning again. You also need to put an end to Capital Gains tax dodging through loans and stock buybacks. The Wealthy are using it as “free money” glitch and that’s what’s driving up inflation more than anything.

you do know that like 85% of TF2 servers (yes there are still TF2 players) are community hosted? I hope this dipshit is ready to deal with the business end of a fully loaded Gaben.

counter-counterpoint: I’m trying to develop branding, and if it gets popular enough, the intent is to get an artist. Also I’m just starting out.

as someone who started a substack recently, having the AI image generator make cover art is a nice convenience as I neither have the time to do it myself or the cash flow to hire someone. I’m not going to use stock images because then I’d get watermarks and The AI gen is slightly more professional seeming.
There is a youtube channel that used AI to illustrate it sci/fi fantasy narrative about a multiversal extraplanar setting called “The Archive In-between” which uses a dreamlike retro aesthetic which really fits well with AI generated imagery. Most people who are fans agree this is a FANTASTIC use for AI.

There’s a line in The Republic that states something to the effect of “You cannot persuade someone who doesn’t want to listen” at that point firing their own venom back at them is justified.

right, but they have been proven to be demonstrably evil. Or are we now sympathetic to cancer? If they want to be treated like people they should start acting like it. Just because one is a pacifist, does not mean they shouldn’t defend themself

i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/…/3mLydMU.png I mean people have the right to ignore you. I never claimed that people would face incarcerations if they don’t. Or have you never seen a crazy guy on a street corner ringing a bell and saying “the end is nigh!”?

The difference is that you have the right get up on the soap box, but you are not guaranteed an audience once you get there. The Freedom of speech only says that you can’t be denied your own life for what you say, not that you are entitled to people to agree with you.

Freedom of speech does not mean the Freedom to be heard.

It’s supported farther down as a indicator that the man sees women as equating to children, or sees the woman as permisuous. I promise you that in either case, i’m calling out mysogyny.

If it wasn’t for the evidence to the contrary, I would have called Kate Bush a mandela effect. I was born in 82,’ but I’d literally NEVER heard of her until the internet lost its’ GD mind about how her song showed up in that one Stranger Things episode. AND I’M INTO CLASSIC ROCK

I’ll grant that, but you know how some ladies prefer a man with a beard? It’s sort of the same mentality. Now to the ladies, who like beards, I ask you: Do you prefer “wild homeless man” or “18th century naval ships captain?”
…
That’s what I thought, so don’t think I’m saying “ignore grooming.”
- Comment on Men against bush 2 weeks ago:
no, but considering the types of females that have no hair down there tend to be prepubecent (or have alopecia,) or the women who are concerned about early detection of STI’s, it does imply a kind of coding about the men who prefer it, rather than having no preference.
- Comment on 2 weeks ago:
that’s my point here. I shouldn’t need to, but this invites it.
