  1. The moon has HUGE reserves of Helium 3. Earth has almost none and is quickly running out. This is due to the fact that much of those reserves come from the solar wind and Earth’s magnetic field deflects that.

  2. It’s fairly easy to launch rockets from the lunar surface, and comparatively easy to launch things to the Moon vs. Directly from Earth to Deep space.

  3a. The moon blocks much of the radio chatter from Earth (on it’s far side) meaning radio telemetry and astronomy have a MUCH easier time doing research

  b. By using such methods in concert with Terrestrial installations/telescopes, it makes for a FINE “natural” interferometer for literal logarithmic fractions of the price over Conventional Lagrange point based systems.

  4. The moon is ideal for biological “life boating” (google the “Svalbard Seed Bank” to get what I’m talking about)

  5. Earth’s gravity can sometimes skew the results of VERY sensitive nuclear particle experiments. A particle collider on the moon might lead to exciting discoveries in quantum physics. Also such colliders require lots of liquid helium for cooling. (see point 1) The moon gets INCREDIBLY cold on it’s night side, which saves on energy costs to boot, and night on the moon lasts for 2 weeks.

  6. The Lunar crusts’ composition is almost identical to Earth’s which means it probably has huge reserves of lithium, gold, platinum, titanium, and palladium. The fact that it gets seeded by meteorites frequently also increases these odds.

  and my point is that being nutritionally complete is easier if you consume animal proteins. Vegans are playing on hardmode by choice and think that makes them special. IMHO they are right; “special” enough to warrant their own bus. Don’t anthropomorphize your food. Chickens are IDIOTS who will cannibalize each other without a second thought, Pigs may be “smart” but are clueless (and also will cannibalize each other like chickens), and cattle are absolute MORONS. In fact the only reason we eat the animals that we do is because their ancestors were too mentally vaccuous to avoid humans altogether. (like say, MOST OF THE AFRICAN MEGA FAUNA which evolved with us and so are wise to our BS.)

  The short version is that Machiavelli is a rather profound Stoic philosopher, but everyone misses that in a lot of his work he is being slightly sarcastic to throw the “powers that be” off the scent that he was criticizing them. When you hear how he suggests that “Princes should be feared rather than respected.” he actually calling out the despots of his day. It’s kind of how Stephen Colbert portrayed a right wing pundit on “The Colbert Report” as a way of satirizing right-wing pundits.

  Fun fact: 100 Billion is a lot of money. That is only 10% of what Elon Musk is worth. If Elon gave every American (about 350 million last I checked), $1M, that would only put a dent in his wealth to the tune of just over 1/3rd of 1% of his wealth. These Uber wealthy need to shut up about needing more money. They have so much that they could loose an amount that would be literally life-changing to most of us and woul barely notice it, if an accountant didn’t say anything to them.

  As a person who spent many years in the culinary arts field, I can assure you that most professional bakeries use the same mix you can buy at the store, just shipped in 50 pound bags.   The issue is that the powers that be did learn their lesson and they learned it well. If you keep the masses JUST sufficient enough that they still have something “to lose” they’ll be to busy chasing that to be able to mount any kind of resistance to their exploitation. It’s the splash and dash mentality. It’s also why they are so against abortion. they frame it as a moral issue, but it’s really about ensuring a good crop of fresh people to exploit when the current crop wears out. It’s a common fascist tactic: Concentration Camps were usually billed as “work” camps where people would be set to menial or meaningless tasks, so they would waste away on purpose, and the deaths could be logged as “by natural causes” and not murder. (only what the regime defined as “undesirables” were sent to be euthanized.)

  Competing Lords owned the land and extracted labor from the peasants, and this was feudalism. Then peasants overthrew the lords so they could seek ownership of those lands, but that only benefited those who already had the means to fill the vacuum left by the lords. Capitalism only shuffles the deck of Feudalism. it doesn’t solve the underlying flaw in the game, namely that there will always be someone with more means than you extracting value from people whose only asset to sell is their labor and time. Eventually a group of gentrified individuals will emerge that fill the rolls that the old lords did, and given that nepotism is rampant in industry, it’s not even really that different at all from feudalism. The idea that a CEO should be president of a democracy is such a perversion of the idea of public rule that it is anathema to it. Extreme wealth should be disenfranchising in of itself, as if you are that wealthy, you no longer need the protections of a popular government, but rather, you are what that kind of governance is supposed to be protecting against.
