Ya, I get it that this is the whole joke of the post, but I’m bemused to discover that I’m a slutt datafag.
I had not anticipated achieving such a pinnacle in my lifetime.
What did you call me?

I have never heard anyone call computer science “datafag”, it’s usually called “informatikk” (like “informatics” which you can also say in English), and “slutt” just means end or stop, I have never heard anyone use it to refer to graduating.

What newfags and oldfags? Can one triforce while the other cannot?
Pissmidget@lemmy.world 4 hours ago
Bottom one is more stop/end computer class, does not imply graduation, though fag is generally used as tradecraft. Which makes the books you use for it fag literature.
MojoMcJojo@lemmy.world 16 minutes ago
Yes, when datafag become slutt computer science end

Btw, where did faggot come from?
Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 hour ago
Fag in Norwegians has norse origins while faggot developed independently and only recently become a slur and come out of American vernacular.
In older English it was used to mean a burdensome person and it’s sort of resumed that meaning as it’s now often used to mean someone who is annoying.
Adding a fun double entendre when used to describe a homophobic person.

Faggot is apparently a bundle of sticks (formerly a burdensome baggage)

If you pronounce “fag” like a Dutch, a German would here “Fach” which translates to (school-)subject
fenrasulfr@lemmy.world 1 hour ago
In Dutch it would be vak.
ChristerMLB@piefed.social 2 hours ago
yep, or “field of study”, so if you study in Norway, students who study the same might arrange a “fagfest” together, and a skilled worker is often known as a “fagarbeider”

Sound like there’s some etymological relation between the words (but a cursory search didn’t immediately give me an answer, boo).
