It’s fun to watch my kid attempt a cartwheel, he turns about 1 radian and then folds onto the floor. He’ll get it right one of these days, but I think I like part better
The good old days

True that I see less people doing this, but there are some that keep it alive, my sister still randomly cartwheels everywhere she goes, she even learnt how to do it while holding her beer, and without spilling it !
jaybone@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
Ok, that I’d like to see.
okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Yeah, disbelieve. We’re gonna need to see a gif or something of your sister doing this.
yakko@feddit.uk 2 weeks ago
That is the most arresting thing I’ve heard all day.

Damn cops! Always ruining things…
manuallybreathing@lemmy.ml 2 weeks ago
I’d do a cartwheel if I had the body of an 8 year old, I can’t even do the dishes without backpain now
Fizz@lemmy.nz 2 weeks ago
Im not a women but im gonna hit a cartwheel on my way to work tomorrow. Hopefully I can still do it and don’t fall into the mud.
Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 2 weeks ago
Hopefully I can still do it
Honestly, I used to do a lot of cart wheels as a boy, because fun. Now my shoulders and back say ‘uh, sir, you’re like 200 lbs, gtfo’
Wispy2891@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
In my country a woman suspected of murder did a cartwheel while waiting to be interrogated and the police basically took that as an admission of guilt
okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Pretty sure cops regardless of country will take any out of the norm behavior as an admission of guilt. They just be like that
uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
I recently used this as an example of how mass surveillance escalates suspicion. If you drive home from work the same way for months and then change your route, that can be grounds for suspicion and investigation. Nevermind, you just charted a better path home.
And as law enforcement works in the US, post PATRIOT act, if you can be investigated under general suspicion, rather than for a specific crime. And you will be charged for any crimes discovered. And if you are in sight of the police (e.g. in an ALPR database) then every possible set of behaviors and conditions are suspicious.

Maybe the victim was murdered by a cartwheel.

Maybe, hopefully, OP just doesn’t spend as much time with girls as he did when a little boy. Anyway random cartwheels are definitely still a thing.
Diddlydee@feddit.uk 2 weeks ago
He definitely said in the post that women don’t do random cartwheels, not girls.
ccunning@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
This is because society is evil and killed the cartwheel impulse in their soul.
CorrenteAlternata@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
I think OP was saying that as they grow up girls stop doing cartwheels. Because grown girls don’t do cartwheels. I think you should see it as a “we live in a society” meme

Edit: turns out I can’t read
This is because society is evil and has killed the reading impulse in your soul
Delphia@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Can confirm, have 6yo daughter obsessed with perfecting her cartwheels.
WoodScientist@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Tell her that most girls lose their cartwheel magic as they get older. Encourage her to keep it up and to not ever be afraid to do one!
WolfmanEightySix@piefed.social 2 weeks ago
I saw a girl under 10 do cartwheels today. First time in a while.
frittoBee@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I work at a primary school and I see random cartwheels almost every day.
frog@feddit.uk 2 weeks ago
I work at a Home Depot. I also see cartwheels all the time.
WoodScientist@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I certainly wouldn’t put it past home depot to hire elementary school kids!

I work at a cart factory

I think you left off a few question marks.

Can you elaborate? I am mega curious what you find objectionable since this comment has a very controversial vote score. Genuinely curious, please.

Be the change you want to see in the world. Transition, then do a cartwheel in a skirt.

that reminds me. when I was a kid I tried to do a cartwheel repeatedly until I fell in a really painful way and then after that I’d just watch others do cartwheels enviously
Cracks_InTheWalls@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
Read this, quite literally did a cartwheel in an act of whimsy and solidarity against the encroaching darkness before responding.
(It was actually kind of fun and my back only hurts a tiny bit. One handed cartwheels used to be the preferred move, but fuck no).
DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I had a co-worker in her early 30s, who was a former gymnast, and also coach gymnastics. She’d not only occasionally knock out a few cartwheels in the hallway, but she could also still do aerials.

These days, they also skip the light fandango.
RBWells@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I still cartwheel. One trick pony in that way, I can only do the cartwheel. When kids are doing them I will casually throw one and it always amuses them. I’m near 60.
They don’t take much strength, it’s inertia that carries you over. Hand, hand, foot, foot.
ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Cartwheels get replaced by Fossamax.

My wife does spins whenever she’s wearing a dress that will float out. I probably would too if I fit in such a dress.
Hazel@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
I feel like dresses are probably the most forgiving piece of clothing fit-wise.
djdarren@piefed.social 2 weeks ago
As a fat dress wearing guy: yes.

Honestly, I find hospital scrubs very forgiving. Medical staff looking fine in those greens and blues
