You take this home, throw it in a pot, add a potato… baby you got a stew going!

Man, I printed little kaiju figurines, bought blind bags, filled them with candy and toys. And it freaking rained, got like 8 kids

As a parent I appreciate you for doing this fwiw.

It is awesome to see people in the community being nice and selfless like this.

Hopefully you’ll find a use for the extra stuff, or have it for next year!

I grew up pretty poor. Halloween was the best holiday. I like to go a bit extra now that I can- thanks for the appreciation :D

but have you ever eaten one raw after filling up yourself with candy and sugar water? it’s like a terrible punch in the face while having an orgasm.

Until recently Halloween wasn’t really celebrated in Germany. However, we have Karneval and at least in my region there are lots of wagons and costumed marching groups and they throw candy at the costumed bystanders, mostly young kids and drunken adults.

However, not all of them throw candy. Some throw flowers, flower pots (take cover), bags of onions, leeks or bags of potatoes. This is because many farmers are involved and it’s originally a celebration before a 40 day fasting period and meant to celebrate the last big feast before it and to get rid of the perishable foods.

Maybe the stock cubes are meant in a similar way.

Why did I have to come to Lemmy to learn this? Okay, I never have been that much involved in Karneval, maybe that’s it.

I saw a video of someone saying it’s a great last minute Halloween snack buy, and a fun way to prank the kids. I am inclined to agree

My wife collects unused ketchups, soy sauce, sweet and sours, and adds them to the candy bucket as a trick to go along with the treats. In years when we didn’t go out, she’d offer a reach into the mystery sack for a chance of trick or treat, and kids would get a kick out of pulling out a barbecue sauce.
