I get a timeout on that URL. Is there some way to link to posts without linking to a specific instance? You know, to make use of the federated servers rather than crushing a single one?

I don’t think this can work. Think through it in several steps rather than just one. Once the cube just started entering the portal, a part of it will already be on the other side, as close to the 2nd portal as possible. When the portal continues moving, more of the cube needs to be on the other side, so it “pushes” the first part of the cube further away. The cube imparts momentum onto itself.
Another way to look at it is using reference frames. It really doesn’t make a difference whether the cube is moving towards the portal or the portal towards the cube. It only matters what the difference of velocity is. The difference of velocity must be maintained on the other side of the portal, and since the 2nd portal is stationary, the cube must move.

I’ve seen it about a year or so after it came out. I remember it fondly, maybe I should rewatch it.

the subject for a lolicon is a symbol and the subject for a pedophile is an actual individual
The subject of a pedophile might as well be fictional. Pedophilia is not the same as sexual assault of minors, because pedophiles don’t necessarily act on their urges in real life. I have no idea what the percentage there is, it might be very small, but I still think this is an important distinction in this discussion.

I get the frustration, but don’t be mad at the crackheads. Drug abuse is just another symptom of the shitty system we live in. Be mad at the people who are responsible for that system instead.

That doesn’t really explain why this effect seems to have been observed in europe and australia as well, though. Tanning is definitely a thing there, too

I didn’t know there are places with regulations like that, that’s cool :)
- Comment on It's that time again 4 weeks ago:
I can only speak for myself, but I do think fireworks should be much more regulated. Each year 10,000 people get hurt from fireworks in the US alone, and it’s pretty horrible for the environment. I do appreciate the cultural importance, so I don’t think completely banning them is the solution, but I think it would be much better if there were just a few organized firework shows, and no more fireworks for private use.

That’s not really a portable AC, or even a minisplit. I am talking about a portable AC with two parts (thus called a split unit), one for the outside that dumps the heat, and one on the inside blowing cool air. They are connected with flexible pipes.

Yeah with the current heatwave that’s to be expected. Just get one during fall or winter, and be ready for the next year.
