My thoughts exactly. You need a build up for a drop to really hit which HIJK carries with beauty and grace

Hard disagree on WXYZ. C tier. Maybe B tier at best.
Mac@mander.xyz âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Iâd knock down even further than that, tbh.
C at best.

I have bad news on how itâs taught now
rmuk@feddit.uk âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Right. By alphabetical order of pronunciation.
Aitch, are, ayy, bee, dee, dubble-yuu, cue, eee, ecks, el, em, en, ess, eye, eff, jay, jee, kay, oh, pee, see, tea, you, vee, why, zed.
Ziglin@lemmy.world âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago

I read about somebody naming their kid Abcde, claiming it was pronounced like âab cityâ⊠meanwhile, Elemenope and Kiuares were right there.
samus12345@sh.itjust.works âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Just tell everyone that Elemenope is a Greek name.
Little1Lost@gehirneimer.de âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Eleonore?
null@piefed.nullspace.lol âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
@qrstuv@lemmy.sdf.org is definitely S tier

I like wxyz in french. I took french like 30 years ago but the alphabet was sticky due to the last bit.
(This is phonetics/pronunciation, ofc, same melody)
Doobluh-vay (double v), eeks (x, but you saw a mouse), eegrek (???), zed (zed sounds much cooler than zee, which ironically sounds more French to me)
Hands down the best part of the French alphabet.
Scrollone@feddit.it âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Iâm Italian and the letters sounds similar to French: doppia vu, ics, ipsilon, zeta. But the standard Italian alphabet only has 21 letters, and w, x and y are not part of the alphabet (together with j and k).
By the way, the name of âyâ in French means âgreek iâ
UnrepententProcrastinator@lemmy.ca âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
I think the British use zed also donât they?

Had a kid recently⊠They changed the song so LMNOP isnât so rapid fire for new babies
Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
How secondhand do the babies have to get before it speeds back up?
taiyang@lemmy.world âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
I will dare to mention the new version; LMNOP is knocked down a peg because those bastards have confused young children for centuries! The new king is XYZ, especially with that non-letter &.
Forget that Mozart played the original melody in the Twelve Variations!
That said, shout out to the rollercoaster one Simple Songs did. I am partial to their ABCDEFGH.
sem@piefed.blahaj.zone âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Iâm trying to picture how this sounds. If it is âzedâ, does it just not rhyme with T-U-V ?
Mohamed@lemmy.ca âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
It would sorta rhyme with X instead?
Double U Ex, Y and Zed
Idk
helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
T-U-Ved, W-X-Y-Zed
Seems alright to me.
ivanafterall@lemmy.world âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
QRSTUV being ranked so low is purely a skill/commitment issue. Youâve gotta hit that shit with gusto, stick your chest out and enunciate every letter like itâs Les Mis or a military march. KYOO! ARRRR! ESSSSSS! TEEEEEEYOOOOOUVEEEE.
Itâs one of your few opportunities to hit a nice, long, steady stride.
LodeMike@lemmy.today âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Are you, Just Kidding about that C tier?
Ariselas@piefed.ca âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
sure, but move âWXYZâ up if you pronounce it âzedâ but drop it down 3 for âzeeâ.

FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
I want to see how other oanguages put this. They pronounce the letters slightlly different in each language.
okwhateverdude@lemmy.world âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Pretty sure elemenopee is universally S-tier in all languages.

Iâm actually curious how itâs sung in Spanish, they have a few extra letters in the critical range.
l, ll, m, n, ñ, o, p
I took Spanish in highschool but that was a long time ago. I vaguely recall learning a weird version of the alphabet song that starts with A, B, C, CH, D, E, F as the first grouping, but I canât recall how it went past that.
ijustliketrains@lemmy.world âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
I think WXYZ is the best part of the French alphabet. Doublavay, Eeks, Eegrek, et Zed
KoboldCoterie@pawb.social âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Elemenopee is the undisputed high point.
snoons@piefed.ca âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Itâs the only other starting point when trying to figure out where something is in a library or something.
