I do find it annoying but it’s also a bit of a protest against this community getting overrun by Americans ranting about American politics which is also really annoying

That’s how you end up in a big Rideau Street McDonald’s brawl while holding a raccoon at 2am on a Sunday morning in the Byward Market in Ottawa, Ontario Canada

And I’m sorry you still have to think about our vile nation, because unfortunately it’s not done with you yet.
As a Canadian I can’t help but think of the “chuckles I’m in danger” meme 24/7 and it makes me so mad

- Comment on "Knowing a guy who knows a guy will get you further in life than a degree ever could" 6 days ago:
Taking this too seriously for a shitpost community but the people you meet while getting a degree will get you a job (at least in CS if you graduated pre-2020)
At least half of the jobs I’ve had after graduating were referrals and I’ve given plenty of referrals back to people I know

Things as simple as A* pathfinding algorithms used for video game characters or simple if/else chains used to program tic/tac/toe games have been called AI for decades.
LLMs *are" a form of machine learning and artificial intelligence regardless of how shit they are

- Comment on freedom after speech 2 weeks ago:
Do you not see how easily “freedom from hate” can be subverted by, I dunno, Zionists?
I mean, looking at the USA kind of shows that “freedom of speech” isn’t really helping ya there either lol
- Comment on freedom after speech 2 weeks ago:
In Canada its not freedom of speech but rather freedom of expression when the expression doesn’t infringe on others’ freedom from hate which I’m so much happier with. Why the fuck Americans celebrate their freedom to be a nazi or whatever makes absolutely zero sense to me
- Comment on Femality is stored in the nipples 2 weeks ago:
God forbid a child sees a nipple while ripping through people with chainsaws and automatic firearms 😡

I mean, they’re used everywhere still and aren’t exactly a dated form of timekeeping or anything.

You wouldn’t be driving […]
God that’d have been nice. I rarely drive my car but even that’s too much for me. "Hi, yes I would love to sit still staring at another car’s bumper for long periods of time where not focusing entirely could kill myself and others. I LOVE being required by urban planning to do that and LOVE being required to spend tens of thousands on maintaining the luxury of it

- Comment on Is it possible to install a distro directly from online ? 4 weeks ago:
What’s your use case? If you want to replace Windows on your device then the answer is "not really*, however, if you just want a Linux shell then you can pretty much one click install a Linux distro inside of Windows with WSL2

Ubuntu used to offer a tool that was only a bit more involves than that

The Rick and Morty shirt on the right side is also pretty strange. The logo is impressively accurate but the characters on it are definitely not any character I’ve ever seen

I have never heard that but NGL I kind of like how “can you button up the window, please” sounds
- Comment on Do young people still say words like "taped"? 1 month ago:
Oh, that makes way more sense. I’m not sure why but I thought OP meant it being used like “man, that’s so taped” or something lol.
Yeah though, I’m nearly 30 and have used and continue to use taped as a synonym for recording something

I haven’t ever heard taped before but it sounds like it might be a regional thing maybe?
