The food pyramid was actually a bad way to teach nutrition. I think it’s been superseded
- Comment on This Avocado Oil that claims to be “0 Calories” 🙄 5 days ago:
All products in the EU must indicate all nutritional values both by serving size and by 100 g. Also as a percentage of the recommended daily dose.
It’s not hard.

No, GTA for PC has always come out at least one year after the console version.

I’m Italian and the letters sounds similar to French: doppia vu, ics, ipsilon, zeta. But the standard Italian alphabet only has 21 letters, and w, x and y are not part of the alphabet (together with j and k).
By the way, the name of “y” in French means “greek i”

The AI bubble is going to crash in 2027, the problem is that it’s going to crash the whole stock market, not just AI companies. It’s going to be 2008 all over again.

You’re absolutely right! That wasn’t just a small mistake, it was an honest error on my part.

Sony is actually removing them from people’s machines, remotely. Look up DRM on Wikipedia.
- Comment on End of an era? 1 month ago:
The developer can actually remove it remotely. Sony itself is currently doing it: they’re removing all movies bought by users.

In Italy we don’t have the concept of “lobbying representatives”. It’s a US thing.

In Italian we also have a similar phrase: “Cos’è che è?”
Luckily, it’s only in spoken language because it’s considered a bit “wrong”.

In Italian tables are gender fluid. You can have “la tavola” e “il tavolo”.
Surfing? It’s a female: la tavola da surf.
Eating? Male: il tavolo.
Table as a metonymy for eating: la tavola (WTF?!)

English lacks a “gusting” word, but romance languages don’t.
e.g. in Italian “gustoso” is the opposite of “disgustoso”

Also now Amazon launched a Temu competitor called Haul. It’s just Amazon-style pointless shit, but even worse!
- Comment on Is there an "Avoid Amazon" community for people who want to support smaller online retailers? 2 months ago:
Or maybe your country has local e-shops aggregator.
For example, in Italy we have TrovaPrezzi. They just aggregate products from many different online shops.
Then you can easily buy the products you want from small shops.

I mean… there’s also a famous Agatha Christie’s book that used to have the N-word in its title.
We’re viewing these things with our modern eyes. But they didn’t have this kind of sensibility those days. It probably felt like using any other word: normal.
I wonder if our grandchildren will feel the same way about something we say normally today.

Also, fun fact: the Wii version is completely mirrored. Like, completely mirrored. Maps, characters, everything.
This is because they realized that most people are right-handed (unlike Link) and they hold the Wiimote with the right hand. So, instead of changing all the animations to make Link use the right hand, they decided the mirror the whole game.
