Uy… siempre pueden refugiarse en las ex colonias… digo, argentina todavia safa
Esto esta bien jodido, y con el supuesto niño que se viene, no nos van a quedar dientes
¿Sigue Argentina esperando que la salve el mercado libre?
Conservative politics: apocalypse 100% speedrun
You’re not wrong, that’s literally their goal.
Data centers are fast tracking climate change
Don’t blame everything on the data centers. Everything else is doing its part in contributing to climate change.
Apart from that data centers, at the scale at which we seem them pop up now, are way too young to have a considerable effect on the current heat wave. Which doesn’t mean that they won’t in the future. Climate change is, after all, a decades long project
Helps that Europe is warming faster than the global average. Karma, I guess.
What do you mean by karma? Europe is doing the most to stop global warming.
Source? Not to say they aren’t putting in a ton of effort and making great progress. It’s just hard for me to see them as the biggest force in stopping global warming when China built an entire Germany of electrical capacity last year and almost all of it was renewables
Their manufacturing leadership has brought solar and wind down so cheap that it’s no longer economical to use create non-renewable generators in most cases. They’re also doing a fantastic job producing new electric cars and industrial scale batteries
China is still massively polluting but they’re showing a kind of leadership on climate change that I wish I saw in America
I’m curious to hear your take on why Europe is doing the most on climate change
Karma for what?
Europe (alongside the USA) has been releasing disgusting amounts of climate change-inducing gases since the 18th century, and they (alongside the USA) were the main profiteers of climate pollution until the latter half of the 21st century. Arguably still are, though China etc. also play a part now.
Granted, this treats nations as monoliths, it’s not like the population of most countries really had a choice for the most part.
This is also how I see the movie Idiocracy vs Reality. Reality is plain worse
Yeah, the dummies said “bet” and no one has curbed their child rearing to reduce overall impact.
Eugenicist, vile shit to say. The problem is the capital owners and billionaires/trillionaires, not the poor “idiots” breeding too much you absolute weapon.
That bottom image is, like, the most aggressively chic weather forecast I’ve ever seen.
le weather
“I feel better!”
“Shutup, you’re dead.”
cat in background, being swung, yowling
“Actually, might go for a walk.”
“I feel happy!”
“You’re not fooling anyone.”
We are all gonna die!
But at least we generated value for the shareholders.

You know what would help this situation?
AI
Lots and lots of AI.
Also more religion.

Damn snowflakes. In our days we would have fixed that with a photoshop.
vivalapivo@lemmy.today 1 hour ago
Unironically yes. AI would help us to change the climate

Oh, thank the merciful lord and saviour.
I was a bit worried that we were actually going to have to do something meaningful there for a second, phew!!

AI will totally develop to a point it comes up with a miracle solution that needs no change in lifestyle or social system. /s
