I got the dirt on my new client.
Very high maintenance and will argue down to the hour for project work.
Everyone I mentioned it to yesterday gave me this look and laughed lol. And word travelled really quickly around the office.
dumblederp@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Document everything.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Absolutely. Calls are followed up in writing to get agreement to points of discussion. Extreme, but need a paper trail.
Taleya@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I look forward to the inevitable malicious compliance post

I swear by Grindstone for time tracking. Iâve been using it for many years.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
That looks really interesting. Cheers!

New corporate buzzword I absolutely despise - Journey
Itâs not a fucking journey. Itâs a process.
Stop trying to make boring shit appeal interesting. Itâs boring, but thatâs a how it is. Changing the label doesnât make it exciting.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâd put that on the backburner but to shy away from jargon like that is a paradigm shift.
We could loop in and should probably table it. It is low hanging fruit but still requires a deep dive.
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
It might be worth circling back at a later date, to see what stakeholder uptake is like. Donât forget itâs important to view these things through an organisational lens to ensure maximum buy-in.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
You deserve a kick to the throat for that.
With all due respect of course.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
âWe are mapping out the customer experience journeyâ is such a dramatic way to describe designing a form âŠ

A manager might say your statement is reason to enter a conversation.Conversation, my aching foot! That's corporate speak for performance management.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
No one will be entering me under any circumstances đ
Duenan@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Wellbeing and mindfulness riles me up when it gets mentioned at work because it generally isnât thought of and cared for and often at odds with peopleâs actions no matter how much they scream theyâre looking out for people.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Add holistic to that as well.
As much I hate those words and phrases, I hate the wankers that lap it up.
Grrrrr
stepchook@mastodon.au âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
@Duenan @MeanElevator
I am grateful I can practise heartfulness.
It's really important for me to engage with others at an emotional level. Too much mind interferes with the flow of feelings, so I try not to think while I'm at work.
Dalek_Thal@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
You ever feel like you made a wrong turn somewhere, but now youâve started on a career pathway, have a stupid fuck off hecs debt, canât afford therapy, and feel like itâs too late to go back? That youâre struggling with your job, donât have any real reference point as to whether itâs normal, and just kinda wish you had another option?
Today was not a good day.
dumblederp@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Two wrong turns at least.
Dalek_Thal@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
True, I had to choose my degree at some point
Duenan@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Yes. Iâd completed most of my first uni course before realising what I really wanted to do.
No choice but to finish the course.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I started a BA because I didnât get into the course I wanted to and didnât know what else to do, then had a breakdown and didnât finish it anyway. Waste of time and Iâve never earned enough to pay it back :(
SituationCake@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâve been in existential crisis for decades. So I reckon normal.

International shipping to Australia is so fucking expensive, even for small things. We really are at the ass end of the world.
danwritesbooks@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
It is ridiculous.
Baku@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I looked at having a small 100g roll of tape from a Japanese video game company I really liked forwarded from Japan once. Fucking 40 bucks for shipping. The tape itself is only the equivalent of 6 bucks. I asked why, and apparently itâs because FedEx have a large minimum shipment size and weight or something. They refused to use Japan Post, which wouldâve been like a 40th of the price.
Also paid 15 bucks in postage to get more melatonin from the states. Not that bad, relative, but the entire package, including box, is less than 100g.
wscholermann@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
When shipping costs more than the goods itself, you start to question, hmm do I need it that bad?
Catfish@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Canât sleep, am lung hacking snot monster. Donât know if allergy thing or a bug. Gross either way.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Why not both ? I got floored by hayfever on top of the tail end of a bad head cold. Bless the flying spaghetti monster for antihistamines!
Catfish@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
You may well be correct. I donât like taking them as they make me feel weird, but breathing is kind of important.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
allergy, even Bill Cat is suffering with it
Catfish@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Poor Bill Cat. Donât know if cats are allowed Phenergan but itâs helping considerably. Still feel like shit though.
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Still radio silence from potential new company. Sent a follow up email this morning. Nothing
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago

I have a sample of Lancome moisturiser thatâs too rich for my skin, so I used it as hand cream since Iâd run out out, and my hands feel lovely.
I looked this stuff up out of idle interest, with no intention of ever purchasing it:
Itâs $575. For a 60ml tub of moisturiser.
Iâm horrified. Are there really people out there who pay that much just for moisturiser? When so many can barely afford food? Iâm spiralling a bit. But wow.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I use either savlon or a cheap lanolin. Lanolin in nearly exactly the same as our natural skin oils and works very well.
expensive doesnât necessarily means awesome
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Surely thereâs a dupe.
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago

Grateful for Stardew Valley (even though I did spend three hours playing tonight). It helps me take my mind off of bullshit thoughts.

What would your made up Olympic sport be?
Mine would be: Carrying 2 six packs of beer and a phone through 4 rooms, opening and closing 2 doors along the way and placing them safely in the fridge in 15 seconds flat without incident. Iâve had years of training.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago

Side note : bits of burnt gozleme in the sink look exactly like baby cockroaches.

I hate my handbag again, itâs black and very practical but itâs looking uglier everyday. Time for a new one.
so I was looking at what bags people have , I would say 80% of the people around carlton have a black bag. đ«„

Listening to music at work on my laptop.
Canât connect Bluetooth devices to my work laptop l so using an audio cable with my headphones. Got the cable from Amazon for like $5.
Something is fucky cause the audio crackles a bit, except Iâm enjoying it somehow. Gives it an analog LP feel almost.
The big is definitely a feature

Knocked the coffee on my desk over while on a work call, said âfuckâ very low as the other person was speaking but donât think they heard me. Had to frantically clean the spill up while talking as coffee was dripping onto my carpet. A fair amount went onto the carpet⊠Iâve got this carpet stain remover that I will try out and hopefully it does the trick.

The fact that Iâve used my split system more for heating than I ever have for cooling really says a lot about Melbourneâs climate.
Baku@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Bloody hell, these courier please people have anger issues. I heard skidding tyre noises while I was in the shower, just chalked it up to an odd midday hoon. Whatever. Then a minute later I heard somebody absolutely pounding on the door, bloody dodgy, I didnât know who TF it was (my mind went straight to the old kid) so I got out of the shower and checked the camera, and a bloke in a high vis shirt was running away from the door. Then I get an email: âCourierPlease: weâve successfully delivered your parcelâ
Ran across the road, in front of a car, got beeped at by the person he ran in front of, then floored it just about the second he got in his little van. Wouldnât have even had enough time to put a seatbelt on. I suppose thatâs what happens when you put people on very strict quotas and treat them as glorified doordash drivers but for parcels, but itâs fricking ridiculous!
tombruzzo@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâm going to have to have a word with the MIL about taking the kids out during the day.
The point is to get them to sleep. One only slept when they got back, and the other didnât sleep at all and had a nap from 5-8, meaning I only got the two of them down now.
Not to mention driving all over Melbourne with them and getting toys they donât need from op shops. Iâd be fine with that but theyâre always cheap remote control cars without the remote,so they donât work properly and are full of tiny parts if they ever break

God damn it⊠Iâm actually liking using the iPhone. This is unacceptable.
Turns out theyâve come a long way in the 11 years since I used one. Face ID for auth inside apps (not just for unlocking the phone) is a game changer. Plus app devs have clearly put just a little more love into iOS apps then their Android counterparts. Itâs nothing major, just little things but theyâre noticeable. I also love the haptics. The screen and sound seem better too.
My 2 annoyances so far are that itâs a regular iPhone 15 which feels a bit small in my bear-paw and I fumble with it and CarPlay (which does look excellent in my car) doesnât have the ability to have media controls on the screen at the same time as full screen Waze like Android Auto does. Having both on the screen at the same time uses way too much screen to show the media controls but that might because my screen is portrait rather than landscape. Probably looks fine in landscape on those wide screens you get in new cars.
Anyway ffs I wasnât supposed to almost prefer it over my Android phone.

Iâve had my Mumâs vegetable soup since I moved out of home permanently at age 22. 28 years ago.
Today I finally made it.
Couldnât fit in the pumpkin and I know I wonât get any rice in at the end but itâs ok. Added some minced garlic but stuck to the recipe otherwise.
Not exciting but warm and familiar and chunky.
Ntcc661@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Added bonus: my 9yo son is eating it! He can be ultra cautious with anything new. So watching him scoff it down is pretty heartwarming.
