Ok this sounded interesting, and a sample reading has driven me to download Libby and start on the eBook. Thankyou 🙂

Actually one thing I wanted to share with you guys was that somehow this week I managed to read a book! I used to be a massive bookworm when I was younger, until one of my nervous breakdowns when I discovered that I struggled to finish one page of a book without my mind wandering and me giving up. But I found this book in a street library called First They Killed My Father by Loung Ung. I have a friend from my high school days whose background is Cambodian, so I was interested. He’s told me in the past that his earliest childhood memory was when they left in a boat. Reading that book, man it was gripping. The things that little girl and her family experienced, Jesus Christ. It had me enthralled how she survived, how much guts she had.
When I finished the book I gave thought to something else I read recently with a chart, about how most people in Australia and other modern western countries are amongst the richest 20% of the global population. When I think “richest” I usually think of the 1%. But apparently if you have a car, have a roof over your head, shower daily, can easily access food, turn on the tap and drinkable water comes out whenever you want it, have an education and stuff like that, you are among the world’s richest 20%. It really made me think, you know? And it made me feel really grateful, grateful for my life and the lives my kids live. It made me realise that I am rich in a lot of ways, and it made me feel really thankful.
Enough of my ramblings, just wanted to share my mind space of this week. Have a lovely evening you guys!

It’s been postponed to Friday the 13th looks around suspiciously

It’s been a bit of a blur this week. Work’s been really busy and I’ve been super tired and going to bed early. We were going to take the boss out tonight for his birthday but one of us got COVID so now it’s been postponed. Dang it, the last time I went out for dinner was the last time I went out for dinner with my colleagues, which was last Christmas party! My youngest has a bad cold (not covid). I’m sitting here yawning.

I love this “beanie and sunnies” weather. It’s refreshing and I feel invigorated by it! Then it’s actually meaningful to get cosy and comfortable back home in a house warmed by an oven full of home baked goods 😁

I bought my kids cheap ones with matching pants from QVM (it was all I could afford at the time) and they’ve held up magnificently. Elder wears his heaps, Miniest not so much. Hers is so large that I’m tempted to wear it as a normal sized hoodie 🤣

I’m sorry mate. If it’s any help, I’ve always found in the days and first couple of weeks after someone passes away there are heaps of people coming around and offering help in various ways. Then people seem to go back to their own lives and you’re truly left with the aftermath. This is when I begin to offer help with something, which is sometimes when they really need it and also when my own emotions are less raw.

If you’ve got an old phone spare you can download an app to turn it into a camera. I used Alfred but there are others.

Aww my friend who’s been living and working in China for a decade or so has decided to leave and wants to bring me a small gift. Wants to know what I want, and I have no idea what to suggest! Any ideas guys? Something useless for the kitchen?

The first few times I tasted it I loved it, but I got sick of it pretty quickly. I’ve got a half used jar I bought for something I made that’s probably due to be chucked out.

Got to do some grocery shopping for the weekend, tackle Mt Washmore and very little else. I’ve got lunch planned for tomorrow; there’s pumpkin, spinach and ricotta lasagna with roast vegetables and a couple of schnitzels for the kids. Looking forward to it!
