What a chaotic dream! I’d just moved into a new house, had work the next day and couldn’t find my glasses or anything. The house was full of people, like the party houses I lived in in my early adulthood. I was late for work and running around this house searching for things and panicking. Some of the people there were people from my past (who’d proven themselves unreliable or self interested) and were genuinely trying to help but were useless.

I haven’t had any experience with people with the more advanced situation your friend has (mum was just starting to show signs when she passed away). But perhaps those schemes where people get visits from volunteers to have a cuppa and a chat might help pass the time?

I remember my brother telling me about his 91 yo MIL, who was becoming increasingly dangerous behind the wheel and everyone in his wife’s family were just way too timid to face her wrath on the subject. So he “had to play the bastard son-in-law” because it was getting ridiculous and only a matter of time. She was utterly enraged, demanding her licence back, causing a fuss. They made her do a test and she failed. She was even more viciously angry, and demanded another test. She again failed. They found out she was still driving. My brother took her keys. She was absolutely beside herself with rage. She was in complete denial. In the end she was going to demand another test but death got in the way. What a way to spend your twilight years. Some people are just unbelievable.

You are absolutely correct! I took it down and on the back it says it’s from 2014, it’s as old as Miniest! So guess who’s going to grab a couple of new ones on the way home… Funny thing is, someone from the council came through and “checked” them less than a year ago as part of my MILs home care package 🙄I think the “check” involved them “checking” a box on a clipboard, if you know what I mean 😂 And they weren’t supposed to just check they were present, they were checking the devices themselves 🤦🏼♀️

Smoke alarm just went off for no reason, waking up the kids (I was already awake). Wouldn’t turn off either, had to pull the battery out. After a check of the house there’s nothing to report.

This was the method I tried first and just couldn’t get it to work. Way too dense and no lift. I’ve made a lot of pizza and cake in my time so I started treating it like a combination of both of those and it worked fine. Well, it makes a loaf that we enjoy eating anyway.

It was perfect for me, any harder and a) my knife wouldn’t have been up to the job and b) the oldest 2 members of the household can’t chew it 🤣. I know some people like their bread super crusty but we just can’t do it at our place 😔
