Workmates and I are going out for dinner on Friday night for the boss’s birthday. The last time I went out for dinner was the work Christmas party 🤣It was going to be a secret but it had to be postponed a couple of times, so someone ended up telling him so he wouldn’t bail on us after work 😂

Holy shit dude! Thank goodness it’s getting fixed before you got to a stage where you thought someone was secretly living in your roof or something.

I was a vegetarian for about a decade when I was younger, and I made a lot of dhals and lentil and legume curries. A lot of the food I ate was outstandingly tasty but looked like baby shit lol

I’d love to enjoy the luxury of the royal train, especially King Edward VII’s smoking carriage chef’s kiss

Read another book (High Wire by Candace Fox) and in the brief bit of Sun we had, went out. The Minipeelers swindled me somehow into going to a local cafe where the San Sebastian cheesecake and tiramisu are to die for. Both were lovely as usual. Am now alternating between beached whale mode and doing odd little tasks like a load of laundry.

It’s a decanter made of Murano glass. Of all the beautiful things I have that are Murano Glass that is easily the most outstandingly ugly!

Miniest says the antiques, glassware, crystal and art. It’s a random assortment of stuff that’s valuable but not attractive at all, like this thing

There’s a lot of good in you Melba. I don’t think anyone else would’ve shown Melbcat the commitment and love that you’ve shown. Your care for her embodies the ideal of every being deserving a loving chance at life. Not many people can say that.

My dream is to have an abode in Melbourne, and also a second abode in a regional place I like that serves as a weekender but I will eventually retire there. I’d love to retire early; I don’t think my body can handle hard physical labour for another 15 years even though I love it. That’s probably it lol. It’s only the lottery: when I was a kid a lottery win would set you up for life. Now I feel like it’ll pay off your house and your kids education and not much more.

That’s a horrible thing you’ve been through! Disappointing of the cops to say the least. You were assaulted in a public place in front of how many witnesses? They should’ve been onto it straight away.

I leave the thread for a day or so to read a book I got obsessed with (Drift by C J Turner) and next thing people are talking in German about their pets and Tone’s assaulted in the supermarket! Jesus Christ on a bicycle!

Had outing to Bunnings and Officeworks today 💸 Both Minipeelers like drawing, especially Miniest, and it was time for some new textas and sketchpads and stuff. Needed some plumbing supplies and I bought myself a hanging fern for the bathroom. I really love it, it adds so much life to the room and looks really cool. Somehow I managed to fit in a book, The Community by Christine Gregory. More crime lol, this time set in a small Australian country town. I was lucky in that this one was a real page turner, and the characters were diverse and interesting and kind of familiar.

I loved the style and characters of the Joshua Moehling book and wanted to read others but there weren’t any more I could borrow from my library. The Lin Anderson books are set in Scotland and are very gritty forensic detective novels. Luckily for me she’s a very prolific writer. The one I enjoyed the most so far was probably The Wild Coast, but I also really enjoyed Driftnet. I seem to be really enjoying the whole crime suspense thriller thing. It’s just pure page turner enjoyment for me.
I ended up reading all of the Helen Forrester autobiographical books last week. I’ve gotten back into that old habits of mine where if I wake up during the night I’ll read for a few hours in the quietness (or what passes for it around here).

I’ve been reading more books! In between working, doing laundry and going to the donut festival I’ve been reading a couple of Lin Anderson books, a Joshua Moehling book called And There He Kept Her, and started a couple of others I didn’t like so I didn’t persist with those. Loving the internet archive and Libby, free entertainment to offset the cost of taking the Minipeelers out!
