Child support rant:
It has been determined that I have to pay my ex child support even though we live together, I’m on record with Centrelink as paying for all household expenses and the children spend 7 nights a week in my part of the house🤦🏼♀️. We technically classify as Separated Under One Roof, so we are co-parenting whilst separated but still living together. It’s increasingly common where both parties to a separation lack the financial means to move out of the family home or want to minimise any negative impact on the children (in our case, both). There’s no formal custody agreement because we just sort stuff out based on which parent is available to do it. I haven’t even been officially informed yet, he got his letter first. I’ll be disputing it. Even he thinks it is a dumb decision. He knows he’s got a good deal as it is… I pay for everything because I’m working and he’s not, including his car insurance, registration and phone bill because you need that stuff in order when you’re running errands with kids. It’s in my interests for him to be able to pick up the kids from school, for example, or I’d have to take time off from work to do it, so there’d be less money coming into the household which would negatively impact everyone. As I said I’ll be disputing it, when they decide to inform me that is! It just feels like a kick in the guts before Christmas, and I feel emotionally winded.

I made a Basque cheesecake yesterday at the insistence of Miniest and today we just decimated it, there’s barely ¼ left 🫣
On Tuesday the power company are shutting off the power for the whole day to do works. I’ve seen it as an opportunity to clean out the freezer, which has desperately needed it. Too many things in shitty containers that allowed foods to get freezer burnt in too short a time. Luckily I haven’t done Xmas food shopping yet.

Work Xmas party today and I’m running late 🤦🏼♀️Power at home was supposed to be cut off between 8am and 10am, but they turned up at 9:30am with a new power pole 🤦🏼♀️Had to cook the kids and early lunch because the gas oven is a bit tricky to turn on since the piezo broke.

Same here re Myer. Last time I went I stood in the store for a good 10 minutes and was not approached once by a staff member. This would’ve been unheard of with the Myer of my youth.
Also let me know how you go with the breadmaker. I’ve been a little tempted but I’m sticking with my stretching-and-folding sourdough thing for now.

What a chaotic dream! I’d just moved into a new house, had work the next day and couldn’t find my glasses or anything. The house was full of people, like the party houses I lived in in my early adulthood. I was late for work and running around this house searching for things and panicking. Some of the people there were people from my past (who’d proven themselves unreliable or self interested) and were genuinely trying to help but were useless.

I haven’t had any experience with people with the more advanced situation your friend has (mum was just starting to show signs when she passed away). But perhaps those schemes where people get visits from volunteers to have a cuppa and a chat might help pass the time?
