I’m going on a picnic night- going to Macbeth in the Botanic Gardens with a friend. I haven’t picnicked in yonks.
So I went to fish out my picnic basket this morning, and discovered that my favourite lifter/spatula thing, that’s been missing for YEARS, and which I’d given up on (assumed I must’ve left it somewhere) was in fact hiding in the picnic basket the whole time. This has absolutely made my day.
I’ve also made a Blackberry & Bay Leaf cake that smells delish, and I get to see a lovely friend, so the play could be rubbish at this point but I’m giving the experience five stars.
The exciting utensil in question
Image It’s just so much better than any of the others I’ve found. Something about the balance and shape.

Good news: the fly that was buzzing around the room is dead.
Bad news: it drowned in my cup of tea.

I like the heat but this summer’s been a bit much. It’s been nice to have a short reprieve.

You’ve thought about the pros and cons for each. I would try to push it to the back of my mind for a few days and do other things- let it percolate away in your subconscious.
Come back to it on Friday or whenever you need to decide, and I reckon you’ll know what you want.

Have you ever tried volunteering? If you find the right gig you can channel all of that work energy into it, and the community benefits.

I’ve used an under-bed storage tub, the sides were about 12cm high but the width & depth were about the same as the standard 60L tubs you see. I think from Bunnings.
Easy for cats to step in and out of and big enough for them to properly move around. It held about 7kg of litter.

I have outdoor plans at 7, so I’m predicting heavy rain and storms for about 7:02 if that helps

Women do use bbqs, they just manage it without an audience. And without expecting gushing praise for cooking a simple meal.

References for volunteers are needed if they’re complying with Victorian child safety standards. It’s annoying but there’s a reason for it.

Lining up references is the worst. I hate asking, and yet I’ve frequently been a reference for others and I’m always happy to do it. Happy to help if you get stuck.

Severe thunderstorm warning apparently. The radar’s looking pretty spicy but it looks like the worst of it might slip past me to the east.

I’ve asked for feedback. They actually asked me to apply, so I don’t think there was someone else lined up, but who knows?

Got rejected from a niche job that exactly matches my skills and experience after what I thought was a strong interview. Now spiralling and wondering whether I am in fact unemployable. Which I know is over the top. But what do I have to do dammit??? I really thought this one might stick.

And no power. At least the house is still fairly cool.

I watched a bit of the Bellarine road race on tv and that was quite enough cycling for me. Definitely have all the icy poles!

Yet another evacuation in the Grampians. They’re having a thoroughly shit run. Hopefully they can get it all under control.

By all means drink all the alcohol, if you fancy. But please drink plenty of water too. It’s so easy to dehydrate im this weather, and alcohol makes it easier.

Yum!

Well that sounds super fancy!

Stop what you’re doing, it’s time for an icy pole. And a drink of something non-alcoholic. Even if you just finished an icy pole, have another one please. Or an ice cream.
Keep up that hydration. 💧🍦🧊🧃

Me too, and I was only just recovering from the last five-day effort. It’s the stormy weather triggering me today I reckon.

I’m really not far north of the city, closest to the Viewbank weather station. It’s usually a couple of degrees warmer here but right now it’s 11 degrees hotter than the CBD. It’s 37C.
How??

I’ve been to body pump, had a walk, done two loads of washing, and made a frittata. I will be on the couch until further notice.
