When I think of an educated dog I think of Gromit reading Electronics For Dogs but I guess Collies are quite smart too.

So glad for Geoffrey!

If we’re going for controversial topics, Muster Dogs this season is Kelpies vs Collies- which team are you?
Team Kelpie here, collies are great but I grew up with a couple of gorgeous kelpies, best dogs ever.

Or be the servant doing it all day for others. Labour-saving devices have let us advance as a society, especially women.

Big fan. Also a fan of the machine that washes my clothes so I don’t have to boil them or scrub them in a river or any of the various delightful methods used previously. So convenient.

Those ads make me so stabby.
Also the UberEats one they keep playing where they’re kidnapping Andy Murray to sell, not sure why they think human trafficking is so hilarious.
At least the tennis only goes for another week. Then I probably won’t watch 9 for another year.

A hot/cold trippy dreams kinda night, thanks to the humidity. I’m glad the giant spiders weren’t real.

I just finished Diving, Falling by Kylie Mirmohamadi, which was good if you can deal with some unlikeable characters. Set in Melbourne which I always like. Interesting and well-written.
I liked Red River Road by Anna Downes recently too: a young woman trying to find her sister who went missing caravanning in WA. More of a thriller, definitely a page turner.

Romance is the biggest selling genre, by a lot. It keeps the book industry afloat. Even more so since ebooks and audio make it harder to judge what somebody’s reading on the train.
Not underrated at all, just looked down on by many.

Yum. Tofu’s pretty versatile. My dinner tonight was a tofu stir fry with pre-cut stir fry veg from the supermarket and a bit of Hoisin sauce. Super quick, easy, tasty, and healthy.

I don’t particularly like sci-fi and I’m not much of a fantasy reader either. Or crime. I read a lot of contemporary fiction, literary fiction, some vintage domestic fiction, kids’ books, all sorts. Occasionally non-fiction.

Channel 9 are pissing me off on so many fronts. For one, do they realise that just because it’s called the Australian Open doesn’t mean that they can only televise Australians? They’re showing Tomljanovic on two channels ffs.
And then there’s the relentless advertising for the horrific-looking Married At First Sight, I’m ready to sanction torture for anyone involved in the conception and production of that show.
I like tennis but I might just give up and read a book.

That’s a lot to carry. And it can be really hard to give yourself the kind of grace and gentleness you give others.
Maybe a walk would help slow things down?

Fingers crossed it’s something easily treatable and Geoffrey will be back to his happy self soon. He’s a very handsome boy with a lovely name.

My pantry is narrow and deep, who knows what’s lurking at the back. I should sort through it more often but it’s not a job I enjoy.

Mine went in the recycling bin this morning. But 1, he’s not someone I idolised at all. I liked his kids books, struggled with his adult stuff, and hadn’t actually read anything of his in years, so I’m less attached than some.
And 2, as a librarian I’m long past the idea of books as sacred objects- mass market paperbacks anyway. I donate my unwanted books to the op shop but these will be unsellable at the moment, the op shop will just chuck them. And I’m quite used to putting large piles of withdrawn library books into the bin. But I know it shocks some people.

Good plan. I’ve had MRIs, CTs, a lumbar puncture and all sorts of fun. And regular eye tests are worthwhile- apparently weird eye pressure can manifest in interesting ways.
They’ve never found anything useful on all my tests but it’s always good to know it’s ‘just’ migraine and not a brain tumor or something exciting like that. And there are better migraine drugs coming out now.
