Thanks bro :) after I fed them once and then walked back down the next day, they were legit waiting for me.

New day new work trip new tropical soup. Trip 2 of 3 of my six months of bonkers workload and travel. It’s very strange to be so busy but doing actually good things. I am so good at survival mode I don’t know how to be healthy and successful but I am trying. ☀️☀️☀️☀️

I’ve done the stupid thing where I have, like, twelve library books
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I love this for you. This is not stupid, this is the way.

Slept for 12 hours. Broken up, but still, that’s absolutely amazing!!!
This means that the gym makes a huge difference. So back to going 5 days a week.
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Went and caught up with a bunch of old friends. Some I might not have seen for 20 years. Played some games. Got another session lined up, new campaign starting with character creation next week. Hmu if you’re interested in a monthly LARP in North Fitzroy, 3rd Saturday. Pretty nerdy and lgbt friendly group.

I quite like Bananas in Pyjamas. Just living their best banana lives.
Peppa, on the other hand, needs to get in the bin. And die.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I believe Peppa has been banned in China, for promoting ‘disloyalty to the regime’. So gets a free pass for that I reckon.
bacon@aussie.zone 1 month ago
We give Peppa a tiny bit of credit for putting a good word in for spiders.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Same with Winnie the Pooh (XJP got offended that people were comparing him with the bear).
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I heard Bluey was created as a response to how empty and pointless Peppa Pig feels.
Also, I’m pretty sure the same studio did the Big Knights. We got like one season of that and endless Peppa Pig. The world is an unkind place
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Peppa needs to be spit roasted along with her whiny little brother George.

Yesterday was a just about perfect day. Plan on repeating it today, just with less cocktails because flying home tomorrow 😭 🥶

I shall seek pretty frock pictures on ABC website. And do a lot of “who’s that?” Then go back to my life.
Although I am happy Magda subanzski is getting a hall of fame award. Last I read she is pretty sick with stage 4 cancer so this is nice.

Poolside book success: Icebreaker by Hannah Grace. Requires suspense of belief when it comes to competitive figure skating, but a fun, funny read with a very inclusive ensemble cast without feeling forced. 7 out of 10 for making me laugh so much.
Poolside book fail: All We Lost Was Everything by Sloan Harlow. Terrible “romance”, annoying characters, horrible twists that had my eyes rolling out of my head. 2 out of 10.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I tried normie books once and found I don’t like them. Sometimes they’re an enjoyable read, but mostly they rely on you not knowing how human interactions or the world works to be believable

It has been a beautiful sunny afternoon. I took Mr Woof out for a walk and let him pick the route. Miss Meow helped bring in the washing off the line, which primarily involved rolling around on the concrete under the washing line.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 month ago
The random crying has stopped but baby girl has learned that being vocal works for things she wants 😆
She tried whimpering to go outside yesterday, she sooks for the heater to go on, and today she cried for me to unblock the chair and lift her up. (She’s perfectly capable of jumping but I’m trying to spare her knees)
Taleya@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Lucky. Misha just comes into my office and screches at me.
Does she want a chair moved to unblock the sunlight? More food? Outside? Is there puke in an unseemly place? Has the water fountain been upturned? Who knows, she uses the same noise for all of the above.
It’s like being told off by a rusty door.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 month ago
It’s hard to figure out sometimes. Luckily she’ll sometimes do it in that specific area (heater, chair, door), paw at something, or there’s a context clue like she’s just used the litterbox and might want it cleaned

I hate the movie Rubber (2010). I saw it years ago because I thought “oh a horror comedy about a murderous tyre, yeah sure!” And it turned out to be the most boring, pretentious slop I’ve ever seen; I should have known as it is a French film, but sometimes the French have good horror so I gave it a chance - MISTAKE! I watched it all the way through and just couldn’t stop loathing it. I made the mistake of telling my mate at the time, so when I went to see him, guess what he had on 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ so I’ve seen it twice and it sucked arse both times.
What’s a film or piece of media that gets you irrationally angry?
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 1 month ago

You know what? I’m here for your hate on BiP and The Wiggles. I didn’t expect either of them to be a response to my question, but I love it!
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Coincidentally, I watched a French horror film last night called Martyrs (2008).
There was a comment review on this thread recently about 28 Years Later and how it had no redeeming value (which is a preposterous notion by the way)
and so…
Martyrs (2008) is a movie that actually has no redeeming value. It’s a purely violent and brutal torture porn type film with no real discernible message.
It didn’t make me irrationally angry, just confused. Who was this movie made for? and why? What does this piece of art bring to the world?
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Morning shows. Don’t talk to me about morning shows
decades ago I used to stay up to watch Today, an American syndicated morning show. I was like 😧. The journalism/interviews were better than anything I had seen on ABC or SBS. And then I was 😖The journalism of “trash” American morning shows is better than our best journos.
I’m not saying US morning shows are good now or that I agree with their views.
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Oh I’ve seen Martyrs (the original and the remake), and yeah I agree with you. It felt like the theme was “trauma can make you transcend and see beyond!” Which is fkn gross.
The only barely redeemable quality of that film was the end, where we don’t hear what she said to Madame, and it was cryptic. I wanted more of that feeling, not the gratuitous torture the MC endures at the hands of some weird rich people cult.
I feel similar about A Serbian Film. That has no redeemable qualities at all, as well, and I do not believe the creators intent that the film was a comment on the Serbian Film industry. It was fkn gross for the sake of being gross, and they should just fkn own that instead of making up reasons as to why it’s a “commentary”.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I totally understand where that movie is coming from.
if you visit european art museums, churches and city halls they are full of paintings of martyred saints being brutally tortured. Not just a few paintings, so many. For example, the historic town hall of Leuven ( a city famous for Enlightenment values ) has a giant painting in a public room of a guy getting his intestines wound out . Why? These paintings are just hanging there , so many of them, and are totally out of context in space, time and culture.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 month ago
It used to be Paul Higgins doing the weather on the abc.
I had to leave the room.

Rick & Morty. Both voices drive me utterly nuts. No specific linked memory, just insanely annoying.
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Hard agree. I used to like it, but I just couldn’t really get over the voice acting lol

No Ulthar this weekend, but that’s alright because it turns out a friend’s birthday was on at the same time. He only ever sends out Facebook invites so I’ve missed it the past few years. One time I straight up missed it and another year the boys were too difficult to put down.
It was good because I had this gift I’d been meaning to give him for almost two years, so it’s nice to finally hand that off.

Based on the photos, police are waiting with serving trays for protestors with saucepans to arrive with a meal. They look very optomistic about likely serving sizes, so it may be a bit of a loaves and fishes situation. I presume once everything’s served up everyone will sit down for a meal together and work out how to achieve world peace.
