(maybe) last of the Kelpie patient transport runs today. He got full marks for being the best pup for the hospital staff. Little mate had surgery to remove the cyst near his spine and is back at his home full of all the best drugs for pain relief and to get on-top of the infection. Apparently he is already demanding action but also waaay too sore and stoned to actually move.

Spent today helping out mate with sick Kelpie. Had to go to specialist and mate is pretty anxious without their little mate. Kelpie was the best boy though. Finally found what’s wrong - cyst UNDER its spine. Apparently dogs can sometime inhale grass seeds which can wheedle into weird arse positions. Little mate is lining up for surgery which should fix it then the hard yards of keeping a working dog still /quiet for recovery

New Melbourne airport drop-off review: well it couldnt be worse then before. There’s a lot more infrastructure - signage was good but the uber navigation app was a bit confused. All the parks are set up parallel to the footpath which kinda relies on people’s ability to park like a grown up. In practice we were kinda on a nose in angle because people were just sorta landing where they wanted. Lots of lifts and escalators to get down to the bit where you walk across. That was super quick. So 6.8 /10 hobbits

Kelpie friend is doing much better today…fever going down. Still pretty wonky but on the mend. Wonder if they will find out more from the bloods? Hopefully it was just some virus and there’s nothing else going on

Anyone know of any canine viruses doing the rounds? My mate’s working dog has been at the vet two days in a row. Fever, shaking, needing to be picked up to get in the car, bloods show inflammation and low thyroid, tummy ok except not very interested in food and no cough. Poor pup is really miserable. so everyone is just waiting for now. Really hope it turns out ok. He is the best boy.

I’ve been really good with my lowish carb, no sugar, anti-inflammatory diet and feeling much better. Was out at dinner with a friend last night so had a little splurge of gf pasta and three wines. Up half the night with heart palpitations and hot flushes. I’m guessing it was glucose spiking. Cross that off the list I guess. For now at least

Sunday musings. Meal prep and NRL day (go roosters!!)
- some banana muffins (bit high carb but at least a better snack than chocolate).
- Big batch of Italian tomato chicken bake - half for lunches and half for freezer stock.
- Sweet potato to go with feta and cauliflower rice for salads
- Prep.some green beans for sides for the chicken
Might wander down and see if any of the local pubs are showing the NRLW final…one thing I think NRL does better then AFL is having the women’s league finals same day as men’s. The NRLW is a top notch competition too.

D’ya ever sit down ready for the day and the first two things that jump out of the internet / work notifications just gut punch you? Not normal end of the world stuff, like people you thought were collaborators shouting things in direct competition to you…and being wrong…or things you thought were done six months ago that slipped through…like the world is rolling and you can’t keep up? I feel so far behind on everything
