Thank you everyone for the kindness. I have a big tray of roast veg in the oven so dinner/lunch is sorted and yummy at least. Will be having an early night and hopefully a sleep

I have three weeks off at christmas, and there are just a couple of really crappy situations to navigate first. I struggle when I can’t even see a start. I’m setting a hard “pens down” rule at night so I can get a little bit of relaxattion in each day. Thanks for the thoughts

red heart red heart back. Thanks. It means a lot having a safe space. I have good real world friends but sometimes I just need a scream into the ether

Thanks - I’m trying with the timetable, but my body gave up on my overnight and I crash slept in. Luckily I could take the morning off but that’s partly why I was feeling down - I desperately need a timetable and can’t stick to it. I will persist.

just need to get this out but no obligation to read it
I feel really alone right now. I feel like I am drowning at work and my general exhaustion level is so high I am not catching up there or at home. I am wrought with anxiety and I have kinda lost the will to push through. There are so many big things to be done and I am stuck on details. And every time I make time someone else has a problem and I get dragged sideways. And it’s hard to push through when I feel like the world is a mess anyway. What good can I really do? Am I just burning myself out in a corner for nothing? For reasons the work situation is not a “can you talk to your manager and ask for XYZ” one…what I am carrying is legit mine but I am struggling. I am just dead sick of being the grown up and the strong one for others right now. I want to go home…whatever that means.

Professional movers are the BEST…I never used them until I had to move at start of lockdown and it was the only choice and now I will scrimp and save and spend that money every time. I think they also love it when they only have a small move and you have taken the time to organise a bit.
You are nearly there!!!

I love the Dollop podcast - there’s like over 500 episodes now so some are ordinary but it’s amazing to hear the backstory of people. Often those that are held up as heroes are not but there are amazing stories of lesser known people who fought the good fight their whole life. You can’t trust the judgement of history but that doesn’t mean there’s not goodness.

Yass you can do it! And it will feel like home when you have your stuff in and made it your own. I have lived in big places and tiny old hobbit holes and anything can be a home.
And I vote for the instant pot. I have a smallish kitchen and ummed and ahhed because of storage but it is so helpful. Rice cooker, pasta sauces, dried legumes cooked without soaking, curries, yoghurt. I use it multiple times a week .

Bit of a homemade mix - salami, capsicum, olives and tomato. With a mix of cheddar, parmesan and a couple of dollops of quark cheese because I found that the other day ( haven’t seen it in stock anywhere for a while). On a pre bought GF base.
Was yum.

Having someone in their life like you who wants this for them (and knows some of the harder paths) will help them a lot. Knowing someone has your back and wants the best for you is one of the most important things. They are lucky to have you.

TOO LATE!! I figured I am fighting a losing battle because I need to open a window in the space I use for drying clothes. I put on the exhaust fan and will hope for the best

I would like pizza. I have a pizza base to use. But that would involve turning on the oven when my apartment is currently still cool. Dilemma.

Different strain -H1N1 which is around and comes and goes and is obviously a big issue in a poultry farm. It spreads like the flu and my understanding is that if melbcat is not out catching birds the odd bit of dirt from outside is not going to be an issue.
H5N1 is the strain that’s decimating birds worldwide currently but not yet here. There have been a few cases of it transmitting to mammals (like pigs and cows and seals I think). It’s effects in mammals are not really well known but worrying. If that starts doing the rounds then yeah it’s time to watch and act, mainly because we don’t know if, how, and how badly it might spread if it does get a grip in mammals.
But for now, I’d say a small group of maggies on your side is probably safer than some of the other shite in your neighbourhood! I would enjoy it.

Bird flu (H1N5) is not yet in Australia and you’ll know when it is because it’s not gonna be great for our wildlife - it will hit chickens or migratory species first though, IM <semi-informed> O. And magpies are ‘catholic’ feeders; as long as you aren’t going overboard or being silly and feeding them rubbish they will be fine with a little treat. And good enough hygiene is ok - even with your and Melbcat’s health concerns.
Can lightning strike - yes. Are you significantly increasing that risk by carefully connecting with wildlife - no.
I put out water on a hot day but when it’s not summer there’s tons around.
