Stomach a bit crook today but did a rubbish round of the apartment, a load of dishes and got some groceries. Early dinner. I wanted to tackle the clean laundry pile but I think I might crawl into bed. 6:30 is a legit bedtime isn’t it?

Not in my current apartment but it’s a bit unusual in construction. Previously yes. It’s never really bothered me, if it’s a nice enough place I find it kinda nice to hear people around.

Hugs. Yes that friend support is critical. And just self care help. Yesterday I just sat and talked and clipped her nails and lots of hugs. My friend is a nun so much or her life revolved around community and study and at least there are still lots of people helping and advocating for her now.
She did lots of crafts like embroidery and sewing but long way past it now. I like the idea of photo books and I just found a one button music player for old folk. I am going to get that and load it up with classical music which is another love (she was a piano and music teacher for 50 years). Thanks

I have a question for those who’ve had people with dementia around. My very beautiful old friend has been moved into full nursing home which is what she needs but I saw her yesterday and she is a bit confused about why she is moved, and she is sad and bored. She can no longer read, she now struggles to use the phone, she watches the news on the telly but doesn’t have the interest in anything else, and she has a walker to get around but in a new place doesn’t know many people and doesn’t know the floorplan etc.
She’s bored. She has family visitors and stuff but it’s so long stuck in a room. I hung a couple of photos up that remind her of special things but is there anything I can do or suggest to local family to help keep her occupied during the day? She’s at that sad sad place where she’s lost her ability to do things before the desire. I am at a loss and I live too far away to visit more than once every few months.
Sorry for the wall of text I think I needed to get that out. Any ideas??

Happy (test) cricket day to all those who celebrate. Boo to having a meeting at 1pm that will interfere with watching the start of play*
- by which I mean I have to have it on my ipad on silent while I nod along on the video call…

Two things, take them as you need.
- fuck it’s hard. Hugs of the biggest kind. You do so much to be ok and you deserve to be ok and safe and healthy and I wish nothing but grace .
- my science training taught me that the hydrogen in me is 13.8 billion years old, the carbon from old stars, the iron from supernovae. In some ways I am the most boring thing that has ever happened to me. In other ways this is how the universe sees itself. Even my worst moments are ok because that’s just part of the whole universe experience. That’s not twee. That’s objective fact.
Both these things are true. Use what you need or throw them out if it’s not what you need right now.

Charlie the chipmunk had a secret. At night he would tuck in the chipmunk kids, kiss his wife on her chipmunk cheek and head out for a special little ‘stroll’…little did they know that was when he transformed into ChipAvenger, donning his cloak and mask he scaled the architecture, waiting for the Chipmunk Light Signal from the police chief. Launching off the rooftops, gliding through the cloud layer and landing on the unsuspecting villains. He’d have them tied up and dealt with and still be home for his acorn custard and a nice cup of tea.

NTA. I have had many active working dogs over the years and sometimes they can be overly energetic when young and stuff up (just like kids). But I would always be there, apologise, get the dog under control and reinforce training. And I watch other people to gauge whether they are up for rambunctiousness (how are they walking, do they have a dog etc) and try to minimise harm before it happens.
Anecdotally I have noticed some terrible socialisation of dogs in the last few years and more and more dipshit owners.
Yes sometimes at a dog beach accidents happen. And yes you can and should expect people to be responsible. I hope your back is ok
