After spending big money on the recent bike service they still didn’t fix the puncture I brought it in for. If I need to replace the tyres I’m going to get the very sensible Schwalbe Marathons instead of these temperamental and expensive racing tyres

I use a controller with my PC if I’m playing a game like Dark Souls.
I guess the switch is easier for me because I have a couple of hours between work and gaming with the boys’ evening routine

I heard it’s amazingly detailed. Impressive considering it’s from an American studio. I think about that difference with Sekiro, they’re probably only a few hours train ride from an authentic castle like the one in the game. Sucker Punch are on a whole other continent

I’d love to check out more of their events like that. It would be so good to watch those classics on the big screen properly

Had a whole wedge of cheese bang on it’s best before date last night and no cheesemares so that’s nice.
I’m thinking we go to a shopping centre this afternoon to escape the heat, and I’ve also been trying to pick up some of the cheap nick-nack shit Kmart has on clearance, but balancing where everything is in stock has been a headache

I think I need to hit my phone with the non contact cleaner and the compressed air. May not help how the UI crashes when I plug it in though

I’ve been to EAT CANNOLI on Wood Road, but that could be considered Preston. The cannoli place in the South Melbourne Markets has their factory in Heidelberg West and they also do a nice pork roll there

Yummy Cannoli in Epping. Just above the shopping centre in the industrial area if you’re ever up that way

I told people about a cannoli place near work and now it seems like the office has gone cannoli crazy

The soundcores look good but I’m looking to spend a little less for office headphones. I’d be open to some quality soundcores when my Sony’s die for similar quality at a fraction of the price

These explicitly state they do audio over USB. I have some older Sony headphones and all they’re missing is multi device and audio over USB. USB C headphones are unfortunately such a mess and just because a pair can do it doesn’t mean it will work with your devices

I think I might get some headphones like this for the office. My work laptop only has USB-C ports and this shitty Jabra headset I have is only USB A, it doesn’t even have the option to just use the 3.5mm jack.
Dual bluetooth audio, and audio over USB so I can use it plugged in, because the laptop may have a headphone jack, but the hub I connect it t at my desk does not:

It’s great that you’ve stuck at both enough to need to make a choice. There might be exercises you can do to help with your hand, but if it continues to be a problem the piano might be the better way to go. Otherwise, I’d recommend sticking at both to an extent if you can. Knowing how to play two instruments usually helps learning both

Companies should have to compensate you at a 1:100 ratio for even the slightest inconvenience. Did they waste your time by not having the item in stock? You’re legally allowed to take 100x the value of the time from the store

I’d love a few half days to sit around learning what’s urgent and what’s not. This place has an internal agency for a lot of the work I need to do, so the better I get at briefing them and following up on tasks, the better I am at my job. The dream is to get to the point where I get so good at managing things I don’t need to do the gruntwork, without actually having any direct reports

I think the plan with this job is to learn the project management software they use, catch Project Manager Brain, and then just get really good at tracking other people doing the work instead of actually doing the work

Not a whole lot of sympathy for Big W. I’d like to check how consistently they pay super and penalty rates before I worry about their instore shrinkage.
I worked for Big W a while ago and from personal experience employee theft can be a problem. I remember they had a copy of Mafia 2 for PC in storage out the back. Perfectly good stock that just wasn’t available for sale. So I took the CD and the manual with the CD key and added it to my Steam account.

I remember I started doing Yoghurt and muesli, figuring I’d find something better to eat for breakfast later. That was probably over ten years ago. I do mix it up occasionally though

I think they’ve done this in the past with things like the border between India and Pakistan being different depending on what country you’re looking at it from

Rode into work today for the first time and it’s a pleasant ride. This is also comparing a 15km ride to a 33km ride into the city. I also don’t have to cart a laptop to work, and I’m not towing a trailer full of kids which I usually do on the bike

One dinosaur fact I was reminded of yesterday is the Velociraptor was actually about the size of a turkey, and the dinosaurs we seen in Jurassic park are actually called Deinonychus. Michael Crichton chose the name instead because it sounded better.
Not only did he change the name, he met with the guy that discovered Deinonychus and told him he was changing the name of his dinosaur as well:
Deinonychus were featured prominently in Harry Adam Knight’s novel Carnosaur and its film adaption, and Michael Crichton’s novels Jurassic Park and The Lost World and their film adaptations, directed by Steven Spielberg. Crichton ultimately chose to use the name Velociraptor for these dinosaurs, rather than Deinonychus. Crichton had met with John Ostrom several times during the writing process to discuss details of the possible range of behaviors and life appearance of Deinonychus. Crichton at one point apologetically told Ostrom that he had decided to use the name Velociraptor in place of Deinonychus for his book, because he felt the former name was “more dramatic”. Despite this, according to Ostrom, Crichton stated that the Velociraptor of the novel was based on Deinonychus in almost every detail, and that only the name had been changed.

So the brachiosaurus right at the start of the Jurassic World exhibition scared the boys, but they were fine with the raptor and the scary part with the T.rex at the end. I think they were surprised to see dinosaurs to start with and then got into it
