A dual interview sounds so weird. A group interview makes sense, but when it’s you and one other person it feels like you’re meant to compete with each other directly.

Boost uses Telstra’s network so you’ll get the same coverage as with the big guy. Otherwise it should be cheaper, but they’re technically owned by Telstra so customer service might be the same.

My girlfriend was saying she needs a way to track things at work better because she’s supposed to be leading the baby room.
I told her what she needs is a G-Shock or something similar. It has alarms, timers, can beep on the hour and some models have a button that can start the countdown timer without diving into menus.
And it does it all in a simple and privacy respecting way that’s sufficient for a childcare worker.
I bought a cheap Casio watch one time she’s using to try it out, and if it’s working we can get her an upgrade

We’ve been doing things to wear the boys out before bed. We have a beanbag we get them to run into, let them jump on the bed singing ‘Monkeys on the bed’ then do these muscle massages and books.
They don’t need to do all of those before bed now and they’re falling asleep a lot easier

Macs are only for the important people and the iOS developers. Apparently anyone can run linux if you ask for it

Printer may not be too bad but they use their own version of the VPN software they run, so it wouldn’t be a simple case of installing the linux version.
The IT guy said I could run linux but I’d have to maintain it myself. So I wonder if that would mean I could download whatever I wanted on there

I could get linux on the new work laptop but it could make things like connecting to the VPN and printing a headache. I don’t print much but I need the VPN to do work on the website.
I’d like to cut M$ out of my life where I can but will it be worth it?

Is this one of those places you get the hour lunchbreak included as well so you don’t have to finish half an hour later?

The website is down because of a cache issue. That also means I can’t cPanel in to delete the folder. I jumped on support and they temporarily increased my limit so I can hopefully access the hosting and clean things up. This website business is hard work

It will be good to have a self contained unit I can fuck around with. I have a PC in a server cabinet hooked up to a TV, but it’s not the most convenient thing to jump on and use. At least a laptop has everything you need to use a computer right there, so I could have something to finally learn Docker on properly

It makes a difference. I was like that initially but then I realised how much better I can see with my glasses on. You’ll be glad you did it

I think I’m going to do it. I’ve looked at the specs and similar laptops, plus what they must have gone for on the refurb market a couple of years ago. I could probably flip it on Marketplace and make a buck even after replacing the SSD
- Comment on Discussion Thread 🦆 Monday 31 March 2025 3 days ago:
So after saying this work laptop sucks, I could buy it off work for $100 because the SSD is starting to fail. Switch it out for a new one and it would be right as rain again. It might be heavy and power hungry, but a deal’s a deal

LIbre office is good. It can do everything Office can but the layout is a little different so you may need to just find where some options are. It’s good to have Office in some form available as a backup

We had a good day at the Zoo today, the tigers and monkeys were fairly active.
My biggest takeaway was the Norco Scene is the zoo’s bike of choice. If I was Norco or a reseller I’d get on that for a campaign

I second libre office. Depending on your needs you may want something more specialised if you’re working on something really big. Scrivener isn’t free but it’s made for writing things like research papers and novels.
There’s also a program called Joplin that’s a good evernote replacement

I’ve been getting these videos recommended to me on Rednote of women packing cute lingerie. I’ve finally cracked where they’re getting them from to list for myself. Taobao must be the Chinese name for Alibaba, and there’s more on there again than Alibaba or Aliexpress

One small thing that makes Libre Calc so much more pleasant than excel is you can highlight a bunch of cells by scrolling. No more dragging the mouse to the bottom of the screen and hoping for the best
