I changed the rear tube on one of the kids’ bikes. Had to get past the training wheels, chain guard, and some connector I think is related to the pedal back brakes.
In the process I realised I only have one set of tyre levers and i broke one in the process, those 12 inch tyres are tiny. So I think I’ll order a dozen or so from aliexpress next time I put something through

Prodeous sounds familiar but i think I thought it was a different type of game. I’ll look into it, thank you

I think you mean Cultic. I own it, just need to get in and play. It looks good. Boomer shooters are my thing, I grew up on the first two Quakes and Duke Nukem

I’m feeling a lot better today so I’ve just been chilling at home and tinkering with some music. It’s nice to have a day to myself where I’m not trying to do anything or get things done like a regular day of leave.
Yesterday I spent a bunch of time playing Echo Point Nova. It’s a must check out if you like your fast paced shooters like Doom Eternal or Ultrakill.

The Kids’ sickness has finally gotten to me. It wasn’t fun having it finally hit at 4am but I’ve called in sick and i think I’ll talk to a doctor to get tomorrow off too

That’s why I’m going to try get my kids into weird projects like this and whatever other free stuff is out there. It will teach them how to use computers better and introduce them to much healthier communities on the internet

Last night I came across The Dark Mod, a community project to make Thief style levels in the Doom 3 engine. I found it because the team made their own level editor and it was available in a Linux package manager.
The dedication some people have to these sorts of things amazes me. People have been working for over 15 years in an engine that’s about 20 years old to make levels inspired by a game whose most significant entry was over 25 years ago.
But you know I downloaded it. Thief with Doom 3’s lighting engine sounds like a banger idea

The boys have been sick, the girlfriend is sick now too. I’d like to work from home in case I’m sick, but everyone else is home so I’ve come in so I can get some work done. The joys of parenthood.

I’ve stuck a drive with Mint on it in the laptop and it can to.d the blank uninitialised SSD but not the original one that has bazzite on it. I was able to buy this laptop off work because the drive was failing. Maybe taking it out finally killed it off.
I’ll tinker around some more and see if I can get back what I have, otherwise I just have to reflash bazzite and download my games again

It’s not picking up anything bootable. I can’t find a way to check what storage it can detect, all it says is the two nvme slots are on

It’s posting and says it’s not detecting any bootable media. It goes to booting by https which is last in the boot order

So I wanted to initalise an SSD I got for my Bazzite laptop that it’s not reading. In the process I removed the wrong SSD, the one that has the OS on it. Now it’s not recognising any SSD and isn’t booting.
Is it possible to get the SSD back and and keep going as normal or will I need to reinstall? It’s only a small inconvenience if I have to reinstall the OS, I’d just like to save the time if I can.

Going up to Albury this weekend to see my grandfather. He’s moved into an aged care facility there and apparently he’s doing better than ever, so this will be our first time seeing his new place

Not that it should make you feel better but it’s nothing worse than anything royalty has done throughout history. Pretty standard for that family alone

Competing on price is just a race to the bottom. Let this person get the cheapest service he can find then see if he comes back to you later looking for some real support.
You have to consider your time as well and whether it’s worth it for you.

The LCD Steamdeck is on sale at the moment. I would almost consider it if I didn’t kind of have that space covered with a handheld and a laptop running Bazzite. The OLED screen is meant to be really good and worth the extra price.
I should know all this because I bought my girlfriend an OLED Steamdeck but she only ever plays it plugged into the TV

I was just playing some Rush and doing it properly with the timing and a metronome. Their music can be simple and easy to play along with just off vibes, but there’s always something going on that throws you off when you try to count it properly

You just have to acknowledge they don’t know any better and you’re there to help them figure things out

I was just listening to a ‘Christian Metal’ band called Demon Hunter. At first I was like, ‘can you really tell a band is christian?’ But once you know, you can’t ignore it. It was like any other American band trying to copy European metal, but the vibes were fucked.
If I didn’t know, I’d probably just listen and say it wasn’t very good, but the christian angle makes it very off-putting. It even re-contextualises the name, Demon Hunter. Instead of just being something they thought sounded cool, it has much more of an angle to it.

I saw something about it pop up, were they linking paracetamol to autism? Or saying it was alright for pregnant women to take? Not people I’d take health advice from anyway.
And I think neurotypical people, or at least people who don’t realise they have something, can start having weird opinions when they have a lot of kids on the spectrum. They probably think, ‘nothing’s wrong with me, what made my kids this way?’ And then the Youtube research begins.

I like to ride but the drive to work has been very smooth recently because of school holidays. I wondered why I hadn’t noticed it before and I usually don’t start so close to 9. I either ride or start early so I haven’t been able to appreciate the drop in traffic.

That’s why I made my own flash cards so I could use photos of things they actually have or are around. I figured it would be easier for them to recognise something like a bus if it was the same one they see around.

I made my own alphabet poster to teach the kids how to read. I just picked up some copies because I got it printed and laminated. It will be interesting to see how the kids take it
