This is going to be the first Christmas where I don’t go back to see my family. I’ve done it every year since moving to Melbourne but it’s harder now with the kids.
I don’t know what the other side of the family does at Christmas time, but they hardly catch up with their family otherwise so I can’t see us being too busy

That’s shitty Australian housing for you. We could have houses that work with this climate but we just don’t

The F35 isn’t a jet. It’s a series of scams on top of each other. If more people realised that we could topple the whole thing with a few pieces of industrial action

No, it’s on my PC’s side. It could be because I’m remoting to it, which means I’m not a root user. There are still a few things I need to figure out

Looks like I’m going to get this job. I put in for the sorts of roles I want and never get anywhere, then recruiters contact me for roles like this and I just smash the interviews.
This one just might work out. Maybe it will be the good job in the area I’ve been trying to get away from

Well, they didn’t fix the render engine for Outlook and it became the worst platform to build emails for.
I’m thinking a client would be good for someone like the MIL. She needs to have a couple of email addresses and she always forgets the passwords. A client like Thunderbird could put them all in one place

I downloaded Thunderbird and set my emails up on it. For some reason it makes me feel 10,000 years old using an email client. But it’s great for gmail on your phone as it gets rid of the ads

YouTube in the miniplayer on your least visible screen with something important on the main screen. At most people will think you’re following a tutorial

If I do end up getting this one I hope it works out. I just haven’t found a private sector job as chill as the government jobs I’ve had

A bit of going over the resume with one guy. Stage two will have more people involved, and if they dig your vibe you get brought into the polycule of the business

It would be nice if it did, but I see too many similarities to old roles

I’m progressing to the next stage with this job. I don’t know if it’s what I want to do but if I got an offer I feel like I shouldn’t knock it back. I just don’t want to end up in a similar situation where I’m out in a year’s time because it didn’t work out

The interview went alright. The biggest thing for me is it’s in the private sector and I sort of want to get out of that area after my last couple of jobs.
It’s 20 minutes down the road but it would be in the office full time. Not a deal breaker but it’s annoying

Job interview at 2:30 today. So I’ll need to deal with the heat as well as ducking out for a cheeky interview during work hours

Heading home from doing more tech support. We were cutting it too close to go home then run down to the retirement village so I got dropped off on the way.
No answer when things were done and buses were replacing trains so I had to walk to a bus stop and wait for one in this heat

Does the microphone on headphones work? I had an issue with an old phone where dust got in the sensor and the screen would never turn on during calls. I had to have a headset on me at all times so I could hang up

I’ve got 4 sessions lined up I can do, so at $40 a pop that’s a potential $160 I could make for some quick work this weekend

There’s a family fun day in a park near me tomorrow evening. I find it suspicious because there’s nothing on the flyers saying who is organising it. I think it must be one of the weird pop-up church groups you can get out here

I got paid for my tech support session, so it’s all above board and legit. It would be a good bit of side money if I can do it regularly.
Anyone can sign up, but this might be a good opportunity for Baku if you have the time. It’s an hour pit of your day here and there and you can make up to $70 if you’re willing to run the session youngster.co

I feel like it’s not that because the references were done through an online form and I helped coordinate them. They said I was the second choice and they’d like to keep me on file for any future roles that come up. So I’ve told them I’ve applied for a bunch of similar jobs there
- Comment on Daily Discussion Thread: 🦔🦡🦚 Thursday 12 December, 2024 1 week ago:
That part’s fine. But why string me along for two weeks with reference checks to then tell me you’ve gone with someone else with more industry specific experience? Can’t they read a resume? Where I’ve worked and the other candidate has worked was apparent from the start
- Comment on Daily Discussion Thread: 🦔🦡🦚 Thursday 12 December, 2024 1 week ago:
So I got confirmation that I’ve been unsuccessful with that job I did reference checks for two weeks ago. I’ll reply to the manager about it, but not right now. I’d like to work at this place in some context and I don’t think I’ll give the nicest response if I reply immediately
