My views are from the understanding that these are mostly women who have historically performed the lion’s share of unpaid labor (raising children etc.), worked historically in lower-paid feminised industries and are actively discriminated against by current employers due to their age. That’s lower lifetime earnings and super. They are being forced into volunteer work in exchange for payments that are about 40% below the poverty line.
This may be an extreme subset and I am certain there a women that love the community involvement and purpose.
My critique of mutual obligations goes further but this particular case stands out.

old ladies who need to fulfil their centrelink obligations
This is, of course, an absolute disgrace

I use Shutter Encoder for a lot (basic trimming etc)… have you heard of his other product Shutter Transcriber? It’s literally a packaged model with a GUI and it’s about 10 EUR if I remember correctly. I can’t vouch for it but Paul that makes it is a good dude and is active on reddit for bugs and features.
(I’ve tried to set up models locally but 1. my laptop has an AMD GPU and running the raw models generally prefers/requires Nvidia and 2. I only know enough to get started but not what to do when I hit a brick wall with Python dependencies etc.)

What do you say about Premiere’s AI-powered masking? It looks absolutely best-in-class at the moment but I haven’t looked at it in a few months.

Been watching Jayson Gillham v Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and I’m realising I had no grasp of just how cool classical musicians in general are. They are obviously very smart – but so principled and vocal too. Impressive.

I just got asked for a phone app permission: “Gain a deep understanding of your life”
It was needed if I wanted to enable an AI feature. Times are changing fast.

It’s obviously impossible not to be biased, but Delta absolutely nailed it this morning at Eurovision. I think only Denmark got close to her vocal skills. It’s a tough field but I’m all in on a podium finish for Australia.

7 out of every 10 times someone adds products to a shopping cart, they don’t actually proceed with the payment.
Shopping cart software often has a feature called “cart recovery” that prompts people to complete their purchase if they are part of that 70%. However, it requires the customer to have at least put their email in during the checkout process they didn’t fully complete.
It is common for these entered email address to be stored for marketing/spam emails. A bit of a grey area legally actually.

Abandoned cart recovery emails. They are implemented on a few websites but obviously requires them to have your email which has its own costs.

Most emergencies get sent more cars than you might expect, so it’s likely not as serious or newsworthy as all the action seems to indicate.
Here’s the pager callout for 10.30 this morning:

So Lemmy fell over instead? I’m sorry for besmirching YarraByte’s name.
- Comment on Discussion Thread 🐸 Wednesday 22 April 2026 5 weeks ago:
I think it’s really important that YarraByte creates this thread.
I see Lemmy 1.0 (currently in Alpha) has post scheduling by default, which I’m sure will solve this almost completely. In the meantime, have mods/admin exhausted all other options to keep YB stable? Could we chip in for a good quality webcron service? They’re pretty cheap.
