Huzzah got the soundcard and HDDs. Place I got the HDDs from threw in a tiny (9g) packet of jelly babies lol which was a nice touch.
Will finally have a functional studio again. Can’t wait to make some glorified synthesised fart noises with 2.5ms latency.

Just found a dead lorikeet in one of the rooms here :( The alarm went off when I was down the beach 2 weeks ago so it was probably that. Poor thing. Really sad to think it probably had a partner who’s out there wondering where it is.

Managed to restore an old g-shock that went to Nepal in '99 (!). Thing still works!
Took a bit of head scratching but it lit up!
It even tells you the incorrect temperature and barometric pressure which isn’t bad for the 90’s.

I think oxalis may have met its match. Stubborn af. No tricks like aerogard just have to pull it by hand :( I don’t mind the stuff as it gives the garden bed a bit of diversity and chaos which I like but there’s too much.
In other news ordered a new sound card (motu m4 eee) and 4TB of M.2 action for the new 'puter. That should round it out. I didn’t read the manual before getting the mobo. Turns out using the PCIe 16x m.2 slot renders 2 of the SATA ports useless lol. oops. Good opportunity to get rid of a whole lot of useless shit when copying things over so silver lining there.

Weathered rocks from the beach lol. These things came from the reef just outside the heads.
There was a massive wind event about 2 yrs ago that kicked up so many of them (some of them huge) so carted them back to put on the windowsill. Problem is you have to keep taking them off and cleaning it as spiders and dust loves it.
Sill is about 5m long and completely full of them. Always look at them, zone out and think of the beach.

Back to melbs today.
Got most shit done but the weather threw a spanner in. Plan was to have the garden beds completely weeded and mulched by spring. But… there is no (well, err… little) oxalis 👍 $75 worth of aerogard did the whole lot and for the size of garden beds is a good deal.
Also the new 'puter is rock solid which is a relief. Such a leap from the old one. Dawned on me that the old one did me good for a bit more than 1/3rd of my existence lol. my fondest memory of it was when the GFX card fan died, didn’t need a new one really so I suspended a fan on 2 doritos salsa dip tubs underneath it as it was the perfect height as a temp thing. Stayed that way for 3 years heh.
But it’s back to reality :(

Sort of try to have a tradition and have an evening fire w/ every revolution, no phone, no screens, and that happened this year which was nice.
