Monthly sleep scream happened last night. In a new development, I was told I got out of bed and walked out of my room, then back in. First time I’ve sleep walked. It’s always good to try new things!

To be fair if I had to deal with half the stuff you do I’d be screaming and trying to walk out while I was awake 😆
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 1 day ago
Currently trying to walk out of my own consciousness as we speak!

Is it true? Did you sleep walk?
tell them to take a video next time
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 1 day ago
No idea but it was just my sister and the dog, both of who didn’t want to get out of bed.

I let the depression get a hold of me good. Had a shower for the first time in a 4 days, and now I feel somewhat human. Why does my depression have to have the symptom of not looking after myself? It would be much easier to deal with if it was just the absence of self-worth and low-key sense of impending doom.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 days ago
so many hugs
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I get you. It is so hard to keep on top of the relentless grind of the basics.
I mostly keep up on showering for pain management.

Man I have made 2 seperate complete backups with 2 seperate applications and a boot usb for each in case I need to roll back lol
tone212_@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Did my lower back yesterday, nothing more humbling than when your back goes out in a bad way. Getting out of bed this morning was not fun at all.
Not going to be able to do any of the things I planned today, just resting up until I can see a physio tomorrow.
Duenan@aussie.zone 2 days ago
That’s not good, you take care. Surprisingly pain and soreness will stop you from doing a lot and more than you expected.
Get some ice on it if you can.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 days ago
yes, just rest, take some pain meds, watch telly or read or anything that will help you relax

Vent, passing mentions of self harm depiction
Unwillingly lying down a lot due to fatigue and a fair bit of pain, look for things you can do while you’re flat on your back… Find sub at other place called artisticallyill. That’s promising! Surely there will great tips! Go there hoping to find ideas for accommodations of physical disability but it’s full of edgy vent art around mental illness and self harm. Cool. Not really what I was looking for. I’m not sure if I’ve misunderstood the sub’s purpose but It feels like a lot of that really could have gone to a mental health specific sub rather than pushing stuff for physically disabled people aside, and the art of graphic injuries could have used some kind of spoiler or warning. Going and searching a particular term on Tumblr mainly brings up fetish content. Very helpful, thanks. /s I wish I had a Frida Kahlo kind of setup or could get some kind of fkn improvement.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Make your own space. I am sure there will others who have the same needs and interest. 😊
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Oh man that involves moderating the space so if I do I’m gonna have to look at a lot more of that stuff
And right now I barely have energy to do for myself
StudChud@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Oh my god yeah I 100% agree about artisticallyill! I went there looking for help too, and many it was very… Those people need to get off the internet I think.
I’m sorry there are so few spaces that are, like useful and wholesome. The internet just seems to corrupt a lot of spaces meant to help us.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 day ago
Aye. I’m just trying to live with this shit, not dramatise or glamorise it!
And while disability can be comorbid with or cause mental ill health I’m really looking for some practical ways of managing

I went to the opera last night, just bought a cheap ticket at the last minute. Opera Victoria doing Mozart’s Abduction.
I am not a remotely knowledgeable opera-goer but I was not expecting it to be set at a hedonistic sex club, complete with gimp masks. And it was very funny. 5/5 whips and chains.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I’m not sure why people think opera is stuffy and pretentious. They do that sort of stuff a lot. I’ve been to a couple with full frontal nudity, and one that had a giant inflatable person they were giving an enema to (I can’t remember which one or what the context was, but that bit definitely stood out!)
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 days ago
giant inflatable person they were giving an enema to
I’ve never been to the opera but I might now.
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I have a similar option of Shakespeare. It’s not difficult poncy nonsense for torturing high schoolers, it’s utter filth and fart jokes!
Taleya@aussie.zone 2 days ago
were they doing Leck mich im Arsch?
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Opera was (and in Italy still is) a popular entertainment. I blame the Victorians for “elevating” it to high art and getting all pretentious about it. Should be sexy, rambunctious and very very funny - like Shakespeare. Sounds like a great production of the Abduction though.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 days ago
sounds like fun
um yeah, isn’t the full title Abduction from the Seraglio? It’s right there in the title.
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Er, is there a non hedonistic type of sex club?

mmmm coffee, footy show on, foot up and will be rebandahing soon.
Seems like the best option was to get some dressing and tape it to my toe for compact cushioning and protection.
And hooray for delivery services, packing coming today and I don’t have to go out.

The bangers and mash with onion gravy was a fine meal. I tried this gravy recipe:
www.daringgourmet.com/onion-gravy/
I had not made onion gravy before and used this recipe as a good starting point.
Some slight changes I made was using flour in the beginning instead of cornstarch at the end, as a thickener. I use a bit of brown sugar coupled with brown vinegar to kickstart carmelised onion’s cook time and finally, I ended up purée ing it for a smooth texture.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 days ago
onion gravy is the best gravy, I love that stuff 🤤

Cooking chicken, beef, and pork for MrsGod’s ketogenic meal prep adventures. It’s all pretty bland tasting to me. I have seen so many diets come and go.

Another big Temu order placed, lots of supports for my vegie garden this time. It seems like only yesterday I had all of winter to organise the garden, now spring is racing every closer and I have barely anything done! I’ll need to start on planting seeds for the summer plants (like tomatoes) soon, and sort out a list of the tubestock seedlings I want to buy to plant over spring.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 days ago
One thing I think I need to add to my list of Annual Tasks is descaling the kettle with citric acid then pouring the contents down the toilet. I think I’ll need drain cleaner to clear this thing out. Maybe a regular pouring of boiling water full of acid will get ahead of these blockages
Eagle@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I use cream of tartar.
Taleya@aussie.zone 2 days ago
can also use vinegar at a half/half ratio and boil as well. Drop some bicarb down the kitchen sink, then follow with the mix, it’ll boil out the drains
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I’ll try that in conjunction with everything else. The other drains are going down fine but it won’t hurt
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Vinegar also works and I find the cleanup easier. There are descaling chemicals available at Colesworth for use in coffee machines etc. and these are frighteningly effective when used properly.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I have way too much descaling chemicals for my coffee machine so I could give that a go if the latest batch of drain cleaner doesn’t work
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 days ago
This is why I shouldn’t drink coffee. Could probably fry an egg on my face.
StudChud@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Coffee makes you hot? Why doesn’t it make me hot!? 😭
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Yeah, hot & sleepy. Maybe you’re hot enough already 🤪

I have managed to find the perfect cooking time for cooking chicken thigh fillets.
On my god they came out so tense and so juicy.
Seasoned lightly I thrown in into a sandwich with burger sauce, oh I was in heaven!

The way I’ve felt the last couple of days I wouldn’t be surprised if I had one of them mild strains of covid. I doubt I’ll feel better in time for this conference I was planning to go to on Tuesday
WaterWaiver@aussie.zone 2 days ago
:( Take care of yourself tom.
What’s the conf? Anything exciting, or work required?
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 days ago
It’s just a b2b ecommerce conference. We got free tickets because someone from head office is speaking.
I’ve found these conferences usually have speakers from places that are too big to fail or such weird outliers their advice isn’t really applicable

Most exciting UFC card in ages today. Main event at 2pm, we have Dricus Du Plessis, South African champion who is on an 11 fight win streak - undefeated in the UFC, up against Khamzat Chimaev - undefeated Chechnyan fighter. Chimaev is a dominant wrestler who has looked absolutely unstoppable in his rise to title contention, he is a favourite to win. Du Plessis though is a physical specimen, who sometimes looks a little uncoordinated and goofy almost, but also always finds a way to get it done. Very exciting fight
