Back from friendmas, the pudding was a hit. Am also drunk and stoned. I ate so much, we did a good spread.

I put on the evap cooler and pretty sure all it’s doing is making the inside more humid. It’s sticky in here. Must be too humid outside for it to work properly.

Friendsmas prep is underway for tomorrow. I’m making a self saucing sticky date pudding, and some extremely buttery garlic bread as a side to main. A cold beer is being had and tunes are on.

I have to venture into the blazing sun for an appointment which I am not happy about, but it will be my first time in the Metro Tunnel so that makes up for it. They don’t really make it seamless during this trial period, the usual train and Metro Tunnel train do not overlap at all. 15 mins wait at West Footscray to change over.

Can’t bloody wait, I’m so ready for a break.

The running joke in Melbourne is about crossing the Yarra (so a north / south divide), but east / west divide makes sense too. Crossing from west/north suburbs to east/south suburbs with PT or a car is a pain in the ass so that’s a huge barrier to travelling across all sides of metro Melbourne easily. The Metro Tunnel will change that somewhat from a PT standpoint.
I live in a middle/outer NW suburb so travelling to only things close to me isn’t really an option, most of my work and social activities take me to inner north / western suburbs and the CBD. Rarely do I travel to the east/south unless I visit a few friends that live in the Bayside area, or if I want to visit a bay beach. Anyway, I think it’s a great idea for your Meetup to cross over and experience places in Melbourne you haven’t visited. Yarraville / Seddon is a great pick for those from the east side.

Same, I’ve had to limit my exposure to the news and online commentary because it was really affecting me yesterday.

Coffee’s not doing the trick this morning. My new alarm clock is the power company setting up roadworks signs right in front of my place, they’re replacing power lines around the corner. Who knew setting up those signs required extensive banging. Yesterday it was the council ripping up some of the footpath at 7am. There’s some kind of construction blitz going on right now, I just want to sleeeeep.

Sky pretty, but I feel sad from what happened at Bondi. I was just there yesterday. It’s horrific.

Client event attended, I did not know a soul and felt super awkward at the beginning but had good chats with a few people there. It pays to put yourself out of your comfort zone. Back to hotel to shower this disgusting humidity off me.

It was sunny for a good portion of the day so managed a dip at Bondi but then the clouds and cool rolled in. The sea was angry today, like a washing machine. Pounding waves.
beach
It’s also so nice staying somewhere where I am close to everything. Shops, restaurants, cafes all minutes away. Instead of the whoop whoop location where I live back home.

If you’re new / still in probation, best to be on your best behaviour. A couple of drinks is OK, but not drinking at all is fine too.

Off to Sydney this morning, I’m upset to be leaving our good weather for days of rain 😭
I really wanted to beach, there is a sunny morning on my final day so possibly then.

I had to buy a new laptop to move on from living on 8gb in 2025, the RAM was soldered on. Looks like I might have bought at the right time if RAM prices are going to make new laptops more expensive?

Xmas is one day, then it’s over. Totally understand that the lead up is so long but thinking of it as one day in a year helps me. I don’t have a close extended family or big family event like others, it’s much like any other day.

I packed away my electric throw blanket today with it now being summer and all. Promptly returned to the couch tonight.

I defrosted things thinking I’d do a quick BBQ cook up tonight but I really can’t be bothered now. I’m getting hungry too.

After sweaty exercise shower is always amazing. Also after chlorine pool shower (which I’m about to have). Chlorine is gross.

That sucks! The way you speak about Mickey and pets in general, I can’t think of anyone better suited for the role. What more could they possibly want?! I know it might not help much to hear this, but please keep trying and don’t give up.

Free donuts in co-working today, never seen so many people go after free food at once. I was one of them.

I have set up my new work laptop today - a few teething issues but we got there, not as hard as I thought it would be setting up email and cloud drives. Upgrading from 8GB to 32GB RAM and a modern processor makes a huge difference.

Quick look at Melbourne Central on my way home from office and it was nuts. Went into one store and then straight on the train home, not in a crowded shopping centre mood at all. I mean I’m not sure if one is ever in that mood.

Probably very busy, but they’re big stations so I don’t think it will be shoulder-to-shoulder or anything like that. Depends on your / kids tolerance with crowds. I’m going to wait a few weeks to do the full tour, the stations aren’t going anywhere.

Been having poor / broken sleep lately and I think it’s from an increase in screen time, and at the wrong time (ie. on the couch just before going to bed). My mind was really racing last night. I’m going to try no phone 30 mins before bed tonight and see how I go, and then increase it to one hour. Get back into my reading instead during that time.

I’ve never even thought of reusing a teabag, but I only really drink black tea like Lipton etc, not a fancy tea drinker at all. I wouldn’t re-use Lipton.
