I’m so sorry you’re going through this - job hunting sucks and the rejections are horrible.
Further to Taleya’s comment, in my field jobs also get advertised even when someone has already been chosen, they just have to appear to be being ‘equitable’ employment-wise. Then, surprise surprise, the biggest suck or boss’s bestie lands the role.
Also, hiring managers are just people and some aren’t so great at their jobs, particularly when it comes to providing useful feedback or even being tactful with rejections.

I’m so sorry, it’s such a difficult thing to navigate, both for the person and their loved ones. My dad and a couple of other close family members experienced this and it was really hard.
If your friend likes reading, could she access recorded stories? Is there someone who can take her to church if she’d like to do that?
I think just visiting when you can, and maybe taking her for a walk (if possible) or drive, if that’s an option. Just so she gets out & about a bit. Could you talk to her on the phone, too? That might help her feel more connected.

Looked at the jungle that is the garden the other day and thought I can sort that in a couple of hours, no worries. After gardening all morning, turns out I couldn’t, so back to it tomorrow. Work has been pissing me off lately, so I guess it’s a good way to burn off the irritation
