I had emergency surgery a couple of days ago, and Iâve been home trying my best to recover but this is a new level of body horror I was not prepared for. Iâm so glad the whole thing was free though, and the hospital stay was genuinely quite pleasant (I got lucky and ended up with a private room).
Hereâs hoping I get through the next couple of weeks without any complications, I just want this thing to be over and done with.
Thatâs rough. Hope everything goes well and you can recover without drama.
If anything does go wrong thereâs always your local Urgent Care but Iâm sure you wonât need it.

I actually started the whole thing at urgent care, who took one look at me and immediately sent me to the ER haha. I donât expect to be back anytime soon, things are going well healing wise, itâs just freaky as hell that the standard is to not stitch up the big hole in me.

Time is the best healer. Hoping you have help, if not anything not essential to daily life can wait. Rest is important, and you canât rush it.

If you get stuck and need help/aftercare I know thereâs a nursing service called Call On Clare? Fingers crossed you manage ok though.

Damn, itâs time to get ready for work already. Hopefully it will be a cruisy shift and I donât have to work too hard. So if you guys could do your best not to set things on fire, crash your cars or get your cat stuck up a tree that would be great.
Iâve been gardening all day and now cannot move from couch, so thereâll be no risk of any of that over here

That sounds good, stuck on couch is usually an ambulance job. Unless you are really heavy and need some burly firefighters to hoist you up I wonât need to do anything.
Canât promise nuffin.
Just do your best, thatâs all we can ask for. But if you do decide to do something try to at least make it interesting. Get stuck it the chimney pretending to be Santa or something.
Will try my hardest. Hopefully the rest of society does too!
Everything is cleaned and organised. Dropped presents off to some family kiddos. Ham glaze made. Kitchen ready. Tomorrow I can just chill and cook for a couple of people.

Iâve gotten a handle on doing all the Christmas stuff.
I think all the presents have been bought, just have to organise and wrap
all the food is ready to be prepped, Turkey and chicken pieces are in the freezer ready for Saturday
tomorrowâs food is easy, just burgers and trifle , 2 x shortbread is made, I will bring half the panettone I made , only because itâs so big I wonât be able to finish it.
house is super organised and 95% clean already đ
Time to work! Looks like everyoneâs out doing their food shop today. Also the husbands who donât know what to get their wives.
Watching the market melt down this morning was glorious. My viewpoint from my apartment overlooks the fish marketâŠit was like someone had kicked an antâs nest

One of the best part about this time of year is looking forward to watching Dinner for One on NYE. It makes me cry laugh everytime.
Weâve made it to Albury alright. The trip up was good but it has been a big day for the boys and theyâre tired silly
Found some drinking glasses the other day. Couldnât decide between the high ballers or the tumblers so I bought them both. Didnât need them and now I have to find room for them. They was Christmas present to myself.

The wine has been poured. The eyelids are already heavy. Christmas tradition has been chosen to be put off.
Whoops. What was gonna be a quick run to the brew shop for some odds and ends (both His Lordship and I are planning on getting some mash on) turned into a quick bunnings nip I NEEEED A TOILET lookit that strawberry bowl it would be perf for your mum and then since it was next to woolies oh yeah Iâma gonna grab me some cokes and the wheat germ for my mash and yeah ok while Iâm doing that you go get your dexies filled ooo they have those orabl B series 3 electric toothbrushes we want half price until 9pm!
âŠwe did not plan for many of these. But we did them nonetheless
Christmas Eve run complete. A lot warmer than I thought it was.
No viking rampages today, I went on a poisonous rampage in the garden instead. All the naughty grass that has snuck its way through the cardboard in the garden beds has now been sprayed. The worst bindii infested patch of naturestrip has had selective poison put on it, and the worst of the broadleaf weeds there have been sprayed too.
I was happy to see the climbing bean seeds I thought had failed have now sprouted. Some of the tomato plants didnât cope with the hot days and have died, but I have a few more seedlings that are still ok to replace them with and all the cherry tomatoes look to have made it. It doesnât look like any of the cucumber seeds have managed to sprout though, so I donât think Iâm getting any of those this year.
Iâm deciding on a coffee or the start of a 3 day bender.
Home. Food bought. Food eaten. Now clean bedroom. Clean fridge to make space. Mop floors. Wrap presents. Figure out exactly how long I need for things to cook tomorrow. Listening to the hogfather audiobook for company. Letâs gOooo.
Woken early by a bizarre dream (IRL dungeon with a floating dragon head - the reward at the end was a 20% off voucher at a cosemtic store) and soon after the neighbours had an epic meltdown, mum and kid absolutely screaming at each other. Oy.
I went outside for the bins and the black cat came up with an excited wiggly tail. So I patted him/her for the first time.
Had to watch it though because they were doing roly polys and showing belly so I chose to keep my hands away from the bear trap. Seems smaller than I remember but fur is soft and shiny, doesnât seem to be starving or ill.
Melbcat is sooky and cuddly tonight, she was snuggled up being held and tucking her head into my neck/under my chin.
A bit worried about eligibility for surgery in January. More risks are being discussed and because her usual vets donât want to give more antibiotics her uti may need to be treated by a specialist.

Gonna be so flush with my a-bit-higher-than-minimum-wage wage, way more than Centrelink lol. Iâll actually be able to pay rent without going broke for half a month every month
