Almost stepped on a tiny skink. Managed to hover my foot mid step as it ran away. So glad I didn’t kill it! I would have been so sad.

Can someone please lend some motivation to me. Or recommend where to purchase or forage. Tank is empty today.

I’m so sorry. Such a difficult situation. This sounds so horrid. It’s impossible to know what her wishes are. Refusing food but also ‘you are trying to get rid of me’ implies she doesn’t want to die? Somehow her mental state is thinking food is poison? Ensure will harm her? Because she doesn’t have the mental capacity to understand the consequences of not eating, or to communicate if she wishes to live or enter palliative stage, you’re in an impossible situation. Agree with Melba that checking what the legalities are for medical treatment for someone mentally incapacitated is important. Maybe also having a discussion with others who are close to her, and her doctors, what decisions would be the best quality of life for her?

Productive day! I made a big batch of pumpkin soup this weekend. Eating some for lunches this week, and froze the rest for soup on demand.

No impact to domestic gas. Only liquid fuels come out of the Geelong refinery. Specifically the petrol plant was on fire. They say they can still produce diesel but at reduced capacity. Natural gas for homes comes from different sources and processed at gas plant at Longford, so is unaffected. However the cost of running the electric appliances might be cheaper, so could be worth it from that point of view.
- Comment on Discussion Thread 👽 Thursday 16 April 2026 1 week ago:
The refinery fire is unfortunate. I hope we don’t have to go to restrictions but I’m not sure the government can encourage people to voluntarily reduce consumption by 10%. Might affect VIC disproportionately because can petrol be redistributed from the other states quickly anyway. Hopefully free public transport is extended, and increase frequencies would be good too.

Could it be that they use a back door, or drive in out of garage, so haven’t seen the food? Also not everyone checks their emails everyday, so possible they haven’t see your message either. I guess that’s the optimistic view. If not, maybe you can ask them if they still want to keep the cat. Tell them you can organise a rescue org to collect it for them. It’s sad, but some people just hope their cat will go away if they keep putting it outside.
Good news on the meds and grief counselling. You are taking steps to recover even though it’s really hard. Melbcat would have wanted you to be well. Maybe you can look at it that she’s giving you strength from beyond the rainbow bridge. You got this.

Went to Book of Mormon over the weekend. It’s a great show, so many laughs. The actor that played the sidekick (forgot the character name already) was absolutely brilliant.

You’re doing amazing. Sounds like the suboxone was the right choice at the time, things could have kept spiralling had you not made that choice. Be proud that you looked after yourself, no regrets. The medication has now done its job, you’ve moved forward, congrats on the one year! It’s a huge achievement especially in the context of those stats. Wow. Well done.

I’d keep it. The law is probably meant for the wildlife trade, so people don’t kill endangered animals for their feathers/fur etc. If it’s a naturally shed feather you found in your yard it’s fine.

No mercy. Stealing someone’s office mug is a heinous crime. Stare her down and demand it back.

What do you mean by illegal? To collect a feather from the ground?

Price has less to do with looking professional than fit does. Something that fits you well will always look sharp, and ill fitting items will look sloppy. Plain black or navy pants and a neat top, or dress (no overly loud prints), and a blazer will be good for nearly any interview. Go to the shops so you can try on different styles to find what works for you. Make sure it’s clean and unwrinkled. Lots to be found in op shops or target.

Hope everyone had a great long weekend. I visited some friends, did a bit of cooking and house admin, and I see I’m not the only one that went to the Rome exhibit! It was a bit smaller than I thought it would be, and a bit crowded, but I enjoyed it. The marble head of Jupiter was the most impressive object for me. But the little everyday items remind you that people are the same everywhere, even 2000 years ago. There were objects from hairdressers, merchants, priests, bowls to eat from, coffins (sarcophagi), coins and art. Just people being people. 2000 years is so incredibly long ago. Amazing that so many items survived.

You could also try wildlife Victoria. They help injured wildlife. Even if you can’t be a carer due to work, they need phon operators, drivers etc.
