The change of seasons has well and truly finally hit. Feeling a bit of a cold-ish headache from not adjusting to the temp difference properly and returning to a whole day of desktop work after ages… Gonna buy some soup, chug hot herbal tea, and have an early night. This will be my last long work week before I throw myself at uni hardcore.

I can’t answer you re the warranty question, no idea if third party warranties are any good (I steer away from them for consumer appliances). But I totally relate to you paying a bit more to get it over and done with. I think the seller for the car I ended up buying sensed that as well, I probably could’ve knocked another $500 off at least but I was so over it at that point. Slim pickings in the sub $8k range that I was willing to deal with.

I don’t know what’s better, multiple small assignments or one big hugely scary one due at the end. Good luck to us both!!

The one exception I have with that is the time my shitty dad brought home some white chocolate bars home (probably got them for free from some event) and I already didn’t like white chocolate much… only to discover halfway through the second bar there were dead insects and eggs inside 🤮 I still can’t really eat white chocolate to this day.

DUDE!! You were the one who posted about the lobster ramen a while back. I kept meaning to post asking who it was and how it was. Nice to see a review and post. Thanks, I was really curious…

Eating out is so often not worth it these days. Sadly one of life’s pleasures has been diluted.

Been a couple of years now since I got an IUD and haven’t needed a cup. But I used one for a few years and had a great run (wish I’d been brave enough to use them before). Sadly they were some no name brand I got on special overseas so couldn’t tell you what to get. They sent a medium and large size, the medium was supposed to be for women my size who hadn’t had vaginal births but it leaked so I tried the large and that fit me just right. Though it took a few tries to work out how to fold and insert smoothly. Also my very first time I pulled it out without releasing the seal… do not, under any circumstance, do that.
But yeah it’s hard to tell without just trying one first, to work out the size and shape of your vagina. The first may not be the best fit and you may have to wear the cost of trying again. Once you find one that works though, it’s SO awesome - cleaner undies, fresher cooch, much less anxiety around leakage.

Guy next to me in the laundromat just discovered his airpods in the dryer while taking his nice, dry clothes out. RIP.

Yeah, I wouldn’t bother with an independent inspection for a car new enough to still be under manufacturer warranty, sold by a reputable dealership. But for a 13 year old car from a private seller… absolutely lol.
Some day when I let go of this car, I think I might cave and save up to get a new car from the dealership. Don’t know if I can handle dealing with reams of private sellers…

Noooo. They better not close the Fairfield Bunnings. It’s my favourite - tends to actually have things in stock when the website says they do, unlike the Preston, Hawthorn and Collingwood ones. And the staff seem to be more chilled out and happy. Also agree the Preston one is a bitch to get in and out of.

I used a local mobile inspection service to check the car when I bought mine last year. I dunno, they’re all much of a muchness. I used ACE Mechanics.
As for payment I used bank transfer - first for a deposit to secure the car, then the rest split it over two days due to hitting max daily limit. This was with a private seller though. No idea what dealerships do but I doubt cheques are an option even with them…

Oh man, it’s the evening for the blues. Today’s episode of The Pitt unsurprisingly hit so hard. Doesn’t matter that what happened was telegraphed a mile away, Noah Wyle’s acting in that last minute fucking destroyed me. Had a big ugly cathartic cry and still tearing up over it. While also just overwhelmed by the competency porn. Y’all really need to watch this show (with several boxes of tissues). Best medical show ever

I don’t know if it’s also a young person thing (one of my very few friends more than 2 yrs younger than me) but I will say I always make it a point not to be on my phone when I’ve specifically arranged to be with others - it really saddens me when others don’t reciprocate. Maybe it’s how others feel comfortable around their friends but it doesn’t work for me.

I think she’s better with her other friends but tbh… I really don’t have that much in common with her other than some mutual acquaintances from uni. Her likes and personality are totally different from mine. I think I bore her too but I’m not about to be a doormat about it either. Probably better for us both to let things go.

Sigh. You know how there are some people whose company somehow makes you feel more alone? I feel like that’s this person I hung out with this evening… I basically felt like I was her uber driver. I have never liked the fact that she’s 50% of the time on the phone when hanging out with me, in the past it was because I was helping her out with stuff but now I’m kinda done. The last straw was when we were supposed to have fish and chips after the sunset and she said she’d shout me, but then later on when I asked her where she’d like to go she said actually she has cramps and she doesn’t want to eat. I think I’m really ready to let this one fade away (which is sad given I don’t have many other friends but oh well)
Just enjoying my own f&c at home now, gonna rewatch last week’s The Pitt and then enjoy this week’s.

At the beach with a not particularly close friend for maybe the last truly warm evening… I don’t hate the beach but man, give me a wide open plain or mountain forest or even a treed river bank any day. Something about the gritty sand and seagulls and stuff in the sand and the endless expanse of the water just makes me feel meh.
It’s cool for people watching when it isn’t too hectic though.

Overseas visitors requested a place with Nice Coffee and Croissants… I didn’t do too well on the coffee front BC too many options and just went for very average Seven Seeds. However, we did swing past Monforte in Carlton North and DAMN that was a really good discovery. Worth the $$$. I pretty much died after eating them and am typing this comment from heaven

Bleahhhh took today off on leave to try and squeeze out the last of uni fieldwork but nope spent most of my time driving, still a long way to go :( as the days progress my results are starting to look more and more sus… the angle of the sun is really messing around with it I think.
Friday looks like my last chance entirely. No way I’ll finish everything. I’ll have to do my best to cover as much data as possible. And then the mad, intense, insane 2 months of data processing and WRITING commences. I really ought to book in some kind of treat for the end of the whole damn thing

I’ve definitely had to exercise a lot of patience and calm on the Monash (which I normally avoid like the plague). Today I just felt really short with people going too slow in a way that was impossible to get around easily. But it’s much much easier in the Nice Work Car which has dynamic cruise control and all the things to warn you of other cars doing silly things

Huh, seems like today’s the day for feeling an unspecified sense of unease. Bad memories keep floating up today. Angry at traffic. Constantly feeling anxious about my bladder. Had to use my own work phone rather than shared device for work fieldwork today and its battery life is getting from bad to worse. Even the battery pack isn’t saving it. Sitting in the car waiting for it to get to at least 10%… shame, I had hoped to power on through and finish this entire section today (and throw the shit part - and only the shit part - to someone else 😬)

I’m over my uni fieldwork for sure (it’s such a long drive just to get to the start of this second section…) but what I do love is that it’s a good few hours off my device; and these past two nights I’ve been meeting my old school friend visiting from overseas, which has been a really really good balm for my soul…
…my lack of hydration earlier in the day is definitely catching up with me though. Owwww headache owwww… back out in the field for work tomorrow so I need an early night…

I am 100% of the same opinion. You’re right, August is the worst - everyone’s sick of it all by then - but I’d take Melbourne’s 4 seasons any day over the tropical swamp I grew up in (shitty every month of the year).

I cannot begin to say HOW RELIEVED I was that they did not kill that goat on-screen. Way to bring them back in! I don’t know what to think about the ending. It’s all so insane and the next season - if there is one - will be at least two years away so I’m like okay whatever. Yay Gemma was rescued! But where do you go from here without coming up with more outlandish scenarios that let the innies protest without Lumon just shutting them down like they conveniently did with Irving who by the way has had the most unsatisfying exit from the show… Hence my question why there aren’t more guards. If they really wanted to make a meaningful comment on real-world class solidarity there wouldn’t be such a comical dearth of muscle imo. It was all very cinematic but like… I dunno. I feel a bit flat now. Reintegration didn’t even mean anything after all!
