I love how the quote cuts off right before “only goal”.
No problems here

Oh I assumed it was “our problem”
xantoxis@lemmy.world 1 day ago
OK I also briefly thought “our problem” but I’m actually PRETTY CONCERNED about the words “only goal” when I really think about it? “Only”, as in “Yeah, eating human corpses is definitely ONE thing we’re shooting for, but come on guys”

Excited for IRL Horizon Zero Dawn.
BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 2 days ago
At least in Horizon they solved the climate crisis first, before creating the ribits that would wipe out all life
Spacehooks@reddthat.com 1 day ago
Which then caused another a climate crisis
Gakomi@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Has no one played Horizon Zero Dawn?
No_Eponym@lemmy.ca 1 day ago
I guess we are in that timeline. Tbh, so many things make a lot of sense now.
Spacehooks@reddthat.com 1 day ago
Someone put bullets in Ted faro. Literally screwed humanity as a whole…twice.

Next up “researchers wondered what would happen if they put AI to a machine that can consume humans for energy”
Neato@ttrpg.network 2 days ago
Uhh I played this game. It’s literally the plot of :::Horizon Zero Dawn:::

Your spoiler tag isn’t working.
Neato@ttrpg.network 2 days ago
Yeah I can’t get any of them to work. Do you know what Lemmy uses?
JackRiddle@sh.itjust.works 2 days ago
This one works on my client, while normal ones don’t
apotheotic@beehaw.org 2 days ago
Your spoiler tag doesn’t seem to be working on beehaw at least BTW

Oh goddamnit of course he did.
Joe Rogan elicited some conspiracy theories and media rumors after he claimed on his podcast “Joe Rogan Experience” that the robot would (or at least could) ingest human remains to keep powering itself.
Erasmus@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Now just make them sentient and self replicating and….
Gakomi@lemmy.world 1 day ago
You either get Horizon Zero Down or replicators from Star Gate
Zoot@reddthat.com 1 day ago
Or paperclips!

So it’s not supposed to be used to eat the dead, good. OMG. It’s supposed to eat the life ones!
lolcatnip@reddthat.com 1 day ago
If I’m gonna be eaten by a robot I’d much rather be dead first.
NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 1 day ago
These robots don’t do that part. They will build new robots to make corpses for them.
trslim@pawb.social 1 day ago
Hestia@hexbear.net 2 days ago
Apparently the robot is designed to be vegan.
But we all know a robot that feasts on the corpses of genocide victims isn’t too far fetched.
Asafum@feddit.nl 2 days ago
We now have a team. The flamethrower dog robot that cooks for the corpse eater.
What the fuck kind of future is this?
Damage@feddit.it 2 days ago
Honda’s robots always seemed benevolent, let’s hope they’ll be in our side at least

We’re getting closer to a real life paperclip maximizer.
Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 2 days ago
We already have it, it’s called profit maximizer, also known as capitalism.
NABDad@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Years ago I saw an article about a robot designed to hunt and kill insects as a healthier pest control mechanism in farming. That robot would put the insects into a hopper where they would be converted to fuel to run the robot.
I figured it wasn’t going to be too long before they’d be eating us.

NeryK@sh.itjust.works 2 days ago
Well they are still missing the self replicating part… But you know, give it some time.
Anticorp@lemmy.world 1 day ago
The machines will code that themselves.
Someonelemmy@lemmynsfw.com 2 days ago
Apparently its the other way around. This tech is old: www.theguardian.com/technology/…/robots-research
News to me. I loved the game andI really thought the plot was original.
