I can highly recommend “Fools Rush In: Steve Case, Jerry Levin, and the Unmaking of AOL Time Warner” by Nina Munk as a fantastic examination of how things got this bad regarding media consolidation
If you ever see a CEO like this, warn a brother.

Rename HBO Max to “Max”
My favorite part was when Zaslav announced Max would be rebranded as HBO Max two years later, claiming, “HBO’s prestigious reputation was too valuable” as if that weren’t something everyone but him knew all along.

hes also the one that allow Malone to astroturff CNN in the first place.

how is the preview image clearer than the image you see when you click on it?

Okay, I’ll warn people about blurry CEOs. They should be easy to spot

Wrong pixelformat. RGB interpreted as YCbCr. Half the bit depth, too.

Image so blurred they confused it for his name on the Epstein list.

What is everyone on about? Blurry?
The image is crystal clear on my end. I’m a member of lemmy.world and using the Jerboa app.
I’m gonna save this post to investigate later, just out of curiosity, because seriously the posted screenshot image appears crystal clear on my end.
What are you folks seeing to say its blurry/needs more JPEG?

Are there CEOs not like this?
GalacticSushi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 days ago
At some small, privately owned companies, yeah.

Ben and/or Jerry

They sold out in 2000. Having a successful company wasn’t enough money, apparently…

I very cautiously submit Gabe Newell for consideration. I’m not aware of him doing anything overtly and blatantly evil yet.
TrackenDaKracken@lemmy.world 1 day ago
“Aware” being the operative word, here.
Not that buying a custom, $100 million yacht is, in itself, a terrible thing, I mean, apart from the environmental issues, but I feel like it’s just a matter of time before a few skeletons break out of his closet.

Why are so many people complaining about quality of the image? I don’t think the quality can get any higher
lemmyman@lemmy.world 2 days ago
This is a high quality version. The main post opens to a much lower quality version for me and everyone else complaining, I guess.
REDACTED@infosec.pub 2 days ago
That’s weird. Maybe because I use “always load high quality” somewhere in settings?
TrackenDaKracken@lemmy.world 1 day ago
I wondered, too. But, I’m on desktop and I think the poor images are on phones.

We keep fucking saying that these epstein class CEOs are not just worthless but genuinely detrimental and should be put down like sick dogs. But you guys keep hiring them for some reason.Kraiden@piefed.social 1 day ago

David Zaslav sees no value in artists and animators and hates animated media. Garbage human.

The boards of directors of these massive entertainment companies care about money, and nothing else. It gives me only the slightest schadenfreude knowing that it probably makes them all crazy having to deal with a corporate sector that relies entirely on ARTISTS, who are notoriously as cooperative as cats. They have no choice, and they hate that.
Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 2 days ago
That’s why they want genAI.

An entertainment industry without creatives? Sure, give that a try, I can’t imagine any downside there.
