Good way to ensure that whatever regime rises from the ashes will be even more backwards than the last.

I mean, that is their goal.
If anything, I think this will motivate the government to build even more.

All they are doing is creating generations of future enemies.

one thousand new hamas’es, so they can continue to have someone to point to while they do their genocides
mathemachristian@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 months ago
They don’t need hamas to commit genocide. See e.g. the west bank. They will find an excuse anyway, at least hamas actually puts up a resistance.
Tiresia@slrpnk.net 2 months ago
Bold of you to assume the US and Israel will last generations in their current forms.
The Nazis didn’t create generations of future enemies for Germany.

At least that seems to be the hope

Gotta love how this is never applied to Hamas, Hezbollah or anyone of the other extremist groups with slogans such as “death to the west”.
Pro-tip: These people hated you before and will hate you after, not because who you are or what you did, but simply because you aren’t them. That’s how it works.
Tinidril@midwest.social 2 months ago
Why on earth would they not want death to the west? It’s not like we haven’t deserved it. Israel is way more extreme than either Hamas or Hezbollah. That’s what happens when you create an ethnostate, arm them to the teeth, and back them unconditionally for generations.
Vinylraupe@lemmy.zip 2 months ago
I take some slogans everyday instead of death and destruction.

They also bombed the largest factory producing anti-cancer drugs and other medical facilities.
More than 600 schools have also been hit.
The USSA is as bad as the Shitraeli genociders.

The US has done this exact shit off its own steam before, no need to fall back on the Israelis as defense. They utterly destroyed the North of Korea during their genocidal anti-communist war, for example.

What a way to interpret a comment that said nothing like that. They just pointed out how the comprehensive bombing campaign resembles the level of destruction done to another sovereign nation.

Yeah because famously only the DPRK’s ruling family was in North Korea; when you attack a country that everyone cries about and calls a dictatorship, famously only the ruling people are hurt by it (and it’s spelled ‘favorite’; what are you English?)
to a war crime happening today
If you have the mental capacity to understand that tons of innocent people get hurt by these demonic bombing campaigns, try and see if you can stretch it further to imagine what it would look like when you do it to countries in Asia as well (do some warming up exercises first, you don’t want to hurt yourself)
SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml 2 months ago
This is just like what the US did to my favourite monarchy 75 years ago
Are you referring to North Korea? The DPRK has a cult of personality thing going on, for sure. But that hadn’t developed yet, by the time of the Korean war. Rather the DPRK was a really quite vibrant multi-party Socialist democracy.
The overwhelming dominance of the WPK, and the ostensible sidelining of other parties and organizations in the Supreme People’s Assembly only starts to occur after the war. With the genocidal bombing of the Korean peninsula by the United States, and subsequent economic and diplomatic isolation, being the primary engine which drove political centralization.
Compare the results of 1948 SPA election results with those of 1957.

phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 months ago
Is it, though?
Who voted for him? And more importantly, who did not vote at all? Because all those tards that decided for whatever reason not to vote got us here as well and with that group added, we’re talking the vast majority of Americans.
Add to that that the best resistance we’ve seen so far were the failed and sad little no kings protests… Seriously, please look at europe on how to protest. These protests in the US did squat, nothing changed, it barely hit the news anymore.
So yeah, between Iranians being born into a theocratic dictatorship and Americans who could and should know better, pretending to “rule the free world”, I feel Americans carry a lot more responsibility for the actions of their government than Iranians

Science didn’t put assholes in control. It is the anti science US, anti-vaxxers, climate change deniers who put them in.
minorkeys@lemmy.world 2 months ago
But science builds the machines of war. Science unlocks the power inevitably used by those leaders to make war. Scientists are not free from responsibility just because they don’t pull the trigger. They enable the building of the entire gun.

I agree. Iran needs to bomb tf out of Israeli universities and military plants MUCH more than they already are. Israel must never ever be able to pose a threat to anyone in the region. Neuter them completely
FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 2 months ago
Correction, that is not Israel’s goal. Israel’s goal is to expand their own territory, and it should never be allowed.
If Israel’s goal was the collapse of the Iranian state then that would be admirable because it’s a horrible fucking state. But, again, it is not.
CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 2 months ago
A failed state doesn’t just imply the fall of a government, it refers to a degradation of the conditions of a country such that effective governance by anyone is impossible for a period. Think like has happened in Somalia, or Haiti. I’m not going to claim that the Iranian government is a particularly admirable one, but that kind of condition would be even worse for the people living there, and the chances of that process resting in something significantly better when the country finally recovers again aren’t terribly high.
FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 2 months ago
TBH I think even total anarchy, with roving bands of raiders, might be better than a country that wages war on every neighbor and kills thousands of protestors in a short time period. The fact that they ally themselves with China is just more on the pile.
Nikls94@lemmy.world 2 months ago

QUIC1DE@lemmy.zip 2 months ago
Thats a cute narrative, but unfortunately it doesn’t align with reality in the slightest-
- Israel gifted the Sinai peninsula to Egypt in return for peace
- Israel attempted to return Gaza to Egypt after the `67 war, Egypt refused to take it back
- Israel attempted to return the West Bank to Jorden after the `67 war, Jordan refused to take it back (aka the “Allon plan”, google it)
- Israel has entered Lebanon multiple times to clear out the PLO and Hezbollah’s forward positions which were attacking Israel. Every single time it has pulled back to international borders once the threat was removed.
- Israel offered the PLO a 2-state solution on 98% of the land it demanded (Gaza/WestBank). PLO declined.
- Israel unilaterally exited Gaza in 2005 and handed it over to the Palestinians to self-govern. The Palestinians immediately used their newfound independence to attack Israel.
All of the above is public history which is a single Google search away. Be better.
FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 2 months ago
That would be a really great argument, if not for the fact that Palestine has been shrinking in land area for decades and that Netanyahu’s regime helped Iran supply funds and weapons to Gaza.

Iran needs to stop holding back and demolish all universities in Israel. This is fucking ridiculous. They’re setting your country back decades if not more. If you’re still sticking to some abstract morality while the future of your people is stolen from them, you’re a fucking idiot.
PolarPirate@lemmy.zip 2 months ago
“Holding back” isn’t really what they’re doing. It’s hard to justify attacking a school when doing so puts your already diminished resources at risk. Every time they launch a missile that launcher platform is highlighted for attack just like we’ve seen in Ukraine, but arguably even worse.
If you’re going to risk losing valuable assets then you have to justify it with valuable targets.
chgxvjh@hexbear.net 2 months ago
I think military bases and data centers make better targets.
bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 2 months ago
universities are also part of the military infrastructure.
Blakey@hexbear.net 2 months ago
Destroying Israeli universities wouldn’t actually advance Iran’s cause but could well lose them some of the small amount of international support they’re enjoying. I’m not saying they should be any more scrupulous than anyone else, or than they’re currently being, but they should, and presumably would prefer to, concentrate their efforts on targets that could actually impact their enemy’s ability to harm them.
QUIC1DE@lemmy.zip 2 months ago
“holding back” lol they’re doing the best they can. It’s not their fault that this has been the most one-sided “war” in modern history. Oh wait, it actually is their fault. THEY LOST. cope harder.
