- Comment on Sources: Nintendo is planning a new Star Fox and a major Zelda remake this year, but no 3D Mario | VGC 1 week ago:
well yea, but we haven’t been starved on mainline mario content either. we had bowser’s fury in 2020, mario wonder in 2023 (not a 3d game but still mainline), and dk bananza apparently has a lot in common with 3d mario (tho i couldn’t tell myself, i didn’t play it)

- Comment on Switch 2 demand appears to be flagging as Nintendo reportedly lowers production 1 week ago:
it doesn’t, in fact the switch 2 seems to be cheaper in the us than anywhere else (except maybe japan)
msrp is 450$ usd in the us, 630$ cad (458$ usd) in canada, 396£ (530$ usd) in the uk, 700$ aud (487$ usd) in australia, and 470€ (545$ usd) in france
i don’t think the tariffs are having much of an impact, or more likely nintendo is charging everyone to cover them
- Comment on What's your opinion on post-game content? do you do it? or are you done with the game when the credits roll? 2 weeks ago:
i think it depends on the game, imo post-game stuff is especially cool in sandbox-y games where there’s many things to do, whereas games that are more linear don’t really need it
but what i hate more than anything is a game that won’t acknowledge you finished it. credits roll, you load your save and you’re back in front of the final boss. i hate that, it makes me feel like the game is in a perpetual state of never being completed. at least put a pretty medal on my save file or something
- Comment on Nvidia Announces DLSS 5, and it adds... An AI slop filter over your game 3 weeks ago:
it doesn’t look “more realistic”, it completely changes the character’s appearance: hair that looks dyed, redder, fuller lips, more prominent cheekbones, a more defined chin, and eyes that instead of kinda looking away avoidedly, now stare at your soul through the screen (although that one might be just the lighting, idk)
basically this except more subtle, but the idea is the same, make her look more attractive under the guise of realism. it’s gross on its own, but the implications are even worse imo, just giving gooner chuds the tools to turn any game into the porn of their dreams, fuck art amirite? it’s literally turning everything you see on the computer into slop
- Comment on Nvidia Announces DLSS 5, and it adds... An AI slop filter over your game 3 weeks ago:
oh i’m sure the “hire fans lol” gamer chuds will be over the moon about this

- Comment on 'We Thought It Would Be Fun': Nintendo Has a Whole FAQ on Why It's Selling Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Separately for $20 Each - IGN 1 month ago:
everything about this release is ridiculous
20$ is way too expensive for what it is, it should honestly be 10/15$ at most
why just fire red/leaf green? why not other pokémon games? ruby, sapphire, emerald, these have never been rereleased!
why are all language versions separate purchases??? you couldn’t be arsed to bundle them?
the only new feature of this release, and really the only reason one might want to use this version instead of emulating on another platform, pokémon home compatibility, is not available at launch and will be added later. come on. - Comment on When a Nintendo lawyer joins a forum to ask for direct download links 1 month ago:

- Comment on ‘This shouldn’t be normal’: developers speak out about bigotry on Steam, the world’s biggest PC gaming storefront 1 month ago:
i didn’t have any paywall, maybe it’s a regional thing? here’s a version that shouldn’t have it.
anyways, here’s a screenshot of the Relooted review i talked about. if you check the game’s negative reviews and sort by most pertinent, it’s the 3rd one. it was here yesterday, and despite me reporting it, it’s still here today, and in fact has been here since february 11th. as time of writing, it has 373 people who found it useful, and 115 who found it funny. some of the comments under that review are critical, but most just say “based” and the like.
CW: screenshot of a racist review, makes fun of George Floyd's death
it’s an anecdotal evidence, but as you said, “you can find articles and reddit posts claiming this same exact thing going back years”, doesn’t that mean it’s a recurring problem?
- Comment on ‘This shouldn’t be normal’: developers speak out about bigotry on Steam, the world’s biggest PC gaming storefront 1 month ago:
as the article mentions, if you’d bothered to read it, steam rarely enforces their guidelines, which is the problem here
- Comment on ‘This shouldn’t be normal’: developers speak out about bigotry on Steam, the world’s biggest PC gaming storefront 1 month ago:
for a more recent example, the negative reviews under Relooted are fucking sickening. one of the top ones is a joke making fun of George Floyd’s death.
what does steam do? nothing. valve is one of the most profitable companies per employee out there, and they have no pressure from investors to botch their work, they could absolutely moderate.
they actively choose not to, because despite what bootlickers on lemmy would have you believe, gabe newell is a libertarian dipshit who values “free speech” over the safety of marginalized people.

- Comment on What digital indie games would you like to see at libraries? 1 month ago:
i think Undertale would be a perfect fit for a library, it’s an amazing game with a great story (and especially great characters), it encourages compassion, and it’s not too long, so if you play it well you’re likely to finish it before having to return it!

- Comment on Bears or no bears? 2 months ago:
kinda, not really
arctic, from ancient greek ἀρκτικός did mean “of the bear” originally, probably as a reference to the constellation (cause i don’t think the ancient greeks ever went to the arctic to confirm if there were bears or not)
antarctica doesn’t mean “no bears”, it means “the opposite of the arctic”
- Comment on GOG now using AI generated images on their store 2 months ago:
if it’s any consolation, some people at GOG don’t like it either, so maybe they’ll revert this and won’t do it again
this sucks, still. to me this just sends the message that GOG doesn’t care and will not put much effort into what they do. that’s not a good message to send when you’re selling yourself as a games preservation platform…
- Comment on GOG now using AI generated images on their store 2 months ago:

- Comment on Ubisoft target audience when they play a good game 2 months ago:
that makes sense. maybe the mod they installed causes steam to not count the hours.
- Comment on Ubisoft target audience when they play a good game 2 months ago:
is the time shown on steam reviews accurate? cause i’d guess that it takes more than 12 minutes for a casual player to finish half-life 2
in fact i checked and the world record in speedrunning is around 36 minutes lol

- Comment on Pet Peeves with Games? 2 months ago:
i can confirm that pokémon is normal and lets you have multiple switch accounts with multiple saves on one console. which is actually a big improvement, because pokémon never let you have multiple saves on one cartridge, so on older consoles you did have to buy multiple cartridges! (thankfully you could share the console because the save was on the cartridge, not the console)
on switch, animal crossing is the only game i can think of where there’s only one save per console. and even then, i think they added save slots in the latest update
5 years later… meh. better late than never i guess.
- Comment on ‘As usual, we do what Nintendon’t’: Peripheral firm ‘fixes’ Switch 2’s new Joy-Cons 2 months ago:
to save you a click: the “problem” that was “fixed” is that the new joycons weren’t colorful enough. so dbrand (the “peripheral firm”) made decals with more prominent colors.
