You know, maybe all those years of being taught that extremism is bad and centrism is good, while fascism was on the rise, was just manipulation to keep people from pushing back.
What do Centrists know about electability?

The right wing base does not demand purity tests. Take that as you will.

And they have a pedophile leading them, so I don’t think I’ll be taking cues from them, actually

The right wing base does not demand purity tests.
What convinced you of this? I’ve seen this claim before, but I’ve never seen it backed up by anything.
For example, does the right-wing base support pro-choice candidates? How about pro-LGBTQ candidates?

The main purity test right now in the Republican party is simply whether an elected leader is willing to be completely subservient to Trump.

You never heard of a RINO? This is exactly how conservatives have managed to pull the party so far to the right.

If we abandon our principles we’re no better than they are. That being said, don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.

There are some things which should be non-negotiable. One of them should be free and universal health care. That seems eminently reasonable, since other developed nations have this.

democrats: “communist revolution? that pales in comparison to my strategy, winning elections!”
and then they don’t win elections

You dont understand, we cant afford to campaign on popular social welfare, or popular taxes on rich people, or protecting those popular rights you people are always going on about, or preventing the very unpopular corruption, and we definitely cant capaign on the very popular subject of the epstein files. Right now we have to worry about electability by showing moderate republicans we can reach across the aisle.

can we not make this comm us-centric please
Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 weeks ago
In the sidebar listed under ‘our goals’:
Stimulating a massive wave of worker organizing in the United States and beyond.
It sounds like this is already a US-centric comm?
lime@feddit.nu 3 weeks ago
it does, yeah. doesn’t sound like it’s for memes though.

If a centrist saw a burning building he’d lecture the fire crew for wanting to change too much.
