It’s fairly straightforward: they don’t want restrictions placed on their rights to own and carry a gun, but they absolutely want restrictions placed on the rights of their political enemies.

for my entirely too long life, Rs have been “States rights”, one of the few issues where I agree with them.

Last I heard it was after the Alex Pretti killing. He was beaten without ever drawing his legally obtained firearm he had in the small of his back. During the beating, ICE found the firearm, disarmed him, and then proceeded to execute him in the street. After the killing, a bunch of room temperature IQ Republicans said he shouldn’t have brought his legally obtained (gonna keep stressing that) firearm to a “peaceful protest.”
If there’s anything else along to their apparent effort of pulling back on the 2nd Amendment, well, I haven’t been informed.
