I also have a shotgun in case plan a doesnât work out. Hopefully my future landlord enjoys cleaning up brain matter.
MNByChoice@midwest.social â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Your family will end up doing most of the cleaning. Your landlord will hire low wage people to do any remaining.
Please reconsider.

Letâs play a random game of name your birth decade. Iâm born in the 90s and have no retirement fund. Post the decade youâre born in and if you have a retirement plan
ebolapie@lemmy.world â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I have one but it is not well-funded.
WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I was born in the 90s, and we all have a retirement fund, want it or not.
Makeshift@sh.itjust.works â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I was born in the early 90s and also have no retirement plan.

More equitable? More likely to turn into a Mad Max style free for all.
tomiant@piefed.social â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Exactly, more equitable!
BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Yeah, weâre making good progress on that first part, but global thermonuclear war is the best I can imagine as far as equality goes.
nimeni133@reddthat.com â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
What retirement? This clowns who run the world now are behaving like little kids! Arlechino Trump is acting like USA is his circus.
infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Just like Marx himself, I feel that today we completely underestimate capitalismâs capability to endlessly adapt itself to changing material and political conditions.
Like, I was about to make the joke âThe first part will definitely happenâ to imply that the second part will only happen with a lot of effort on our part. But now that Iâm thinking about it⌠Neither of these things will happen without a lot of effort on our part.
phoenixz@lemmy.ca â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Donât hold your breath
Iâm sure the current system will collapse, Iâm also pretty sure that whatever comes after isnât going to be much different or better. Itâll definitely not be âlets share honesty and fairlyâ, itâll more be like âhave you heard of this new thing called the tricked down effect?â
Beeen132@feddit.org â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Maybe it could get better if you werenât so sure that itâs not gonna be?
TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Literally what happened to our grandparents and parents after World War 2. And then the subsequent generation will grow up in abundant wealth, developing a greedy attitude and cause corruption, resulting in social angst which will be exploited by demagogues. Then a new system emerges which promises a better life, but that system breeds yet another spoiled generation that will cause corruption which yet again causes social upheaval that will be exploited by ambitious individuals.
Rinse and repeat.
Formfiller@lemmy.world â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Thereâs a lot of good boomers out there protesting Ice. A lot of them also fought for civil rights and gay rights. I think a lot of what weâre dealing with is the fact that our system rewards the greediest most selfish individuals on the colonialist hierarchy because it a terrible system.
HasturInYellow@lemmy.world â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
It hasnât always been this way. We can change.
^right guys?^
SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Youâd probably wonât be alive to reap the benefits after a global collapse happens.
SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
The alternative is no benefits either soooâŚ
djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
sounds like a problem that solves itself
plyth@feddit.org â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
That more equitable system doesnât come from nothing. Without preparation it will be like the end of the Roman empire, when local warlords, called knights, were organising the retirement plans for the peasants.
peoplebeproblems@midwest.social â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Yeah Iâm almost certain that is exactly what is happening
notreallyhere@lemmy.world â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Iâd be fine with just the states
brathoven@feddit.org â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Selfish :P
tomiant@piefed.social â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Itâs gonna take everything else down with it when it goes. Weâre all part of the same machine.
MNByChoice@midwest.social â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Yes. Even if the government of the USA does nothing, there will be negative impacts. The population that survives may migrate north or south. Warlords will strike out for new territories. Anything still created or grown in the USA will no longer be. Billionaires will flee to the nicer parts of the world to repeat the process. Wealth in the American stock markets will do something.
notreallyhere@lemmy.world â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
view the world with american eyes, bury the past, rob us blind, and leave nothing behind
Cruxifux@feddit.nl â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Lol fucking same. But as Iâm getting older I have little faith in that anymore.
DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
How to make custard pudding the Marxian way: â1. Make some batter 2. Put the eggs in the batter 3. Put the batter in the oven 4. Wait for the collapse of the entire bourgeois capitalist system 5. Set the table, politicize the proletariat, replace the decadent bourgeoise, activate the workers 6. Remove from the oven, serve from four to six people.â
possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Meme?
Hond@piefed.social â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
My retirement plan was to go into the woods to die before i come too much of a burden for the rest around me. But then somebody reminded me that forests probably wont be a thing anymore until then. So even my slightly sarcastic but very dystopian plan for retirement wont work out.
affenlehrer@feddit.org â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
In Germany we have organic waste bins. I think Iâll just climb in one of them and close the lid
papalonian@lemmy.world â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Sounds like some liberal commie alarmist woke propaganda to me. Here in Godâs country, we put our organic waste directly into the coal plants đşđ¸đŚ
Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Iâve heard stuffing your pockets with coins and walking into the sea is a thing. The seaâs not going anywhere and with the way things are going itâs likely gonna get a little bigger.
tomiant@piefed.social â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Coins? In this economy?!
WanderingThoughts@europe.pub â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
The plan was to do some geratric version of Luigi if things get bad. Nothing much to lose by then.
fartographer@lemmy.world â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Sell tickets for people to watch you, an untrained amateur, fire yourself from a cannon. Go for a distance record and donât set anything to stop your fall.
Similar outcome, provides entertainment (not useless), you can have all the proceeds go into a trust that buys a house in a rich neighborhood, and then make it a safe haven for unhoused people.
homes@piefed.world â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
This is my plan too, but I donât have anyone around me to become a burden to.
So, Iâm just gonna go die alone in the woods, for no other reason then I wanna die in the woods. Woods are pretty.
