As it is the tradition in the sector, I hope the industry will listen to player communities and agree on better sunsetting standards so communities can continue to meet and play together.
lol. lmao even.
- Comment on Xbox is closing Ninja Theory, and Double Fine and Compulsion may not be far behind 6 days ago:
Sure, just close up any studio that actually was able to release worthwhile games under the MS umbrella in the last few years. That will help the Xbox brand. lmao.
As much as i hate MS they still had some brownie points left in my book because they financed Psychonauts 2, that Lighthouse game, the two Sensuas, etc. But without that what can they even deliver? Yet another shitty Halo which cant improve on anything compared to 15 year old prior titles? Forza Sloprizen? Bethesda remastering/remaking/re-releasing a past TES game? The most mediocre output obsidian ever had over a long stretch of time? Activisions COD mines? yaaaaawn

Yes.
A… friend played online before release on linux with a PS5 controller. It felt sick, he said.

- Comment on MOUSE: P.I. For Hire releases on Steam 2 months ago:
Hello, i put so far 10 hours into the game and i like it a lot. But you are correct. The style and setting is immaculate. But the gameplay just isnt. It has tons of little issues because they crammed to many mechanics into the game while none of them truly shine. Its alright. But it isnt deep or needs a lot of skill. I’m more than happy with a vibes based game where the gameplay stimulates me just enough while looking forward to progess the story further. But your assessment is just correct. If i leave out the artstyle, setting and story out of the equation its a 6/10 game. Maybe 7/10 at best because you could argue it still feels better than the sum of its parts.
- Comment on Forza Horizon 6's Japan map is the series' best yet 2 months ago:
I know i’m just a bitter old man and this isnt a rant worth reading about. I just need to get it out of my system. Feel free not to read it or downvote it after you read it anyway while you realize it truly wasnt worth it.
Its going to be the best racing game of the year probably. Its going to be the choice for most people who just want a fun AAA Simcade Racer.
But i just watched a preview and it still hasnt improved on anything i was critical of in FH3 10 years ago. Which also means if you unlike me like Horizon you wont be dissappointed. Yay(unironic).
But personally as a bitter old man really dont know why i should pay for the same game 4th time in a row. I’m so whelmed. Also i’m a bit annoyed how the marketing team in the announcement purposefully pushed my buttons as a racing enthusiast and long time Forza fan. They didnt lie. But i still feel a bit cheated after seeing whats what with independent reporting on the preview.
And yeah my comment is as vague as it gets. But i dont feel like writing a 10k word essay about my feelings on the franchise. I just need to vent a bit because i would be so happy about a new title i could be excited about in this almost dead genre.
Also, just fuck Microsoft. Also fuck TAA which is visible through YT compression.
Wah, wah, wah, etc.
Alright, thats it. I hope you guys/gals gonna have a more pleasant day i had today.

- Comment on I'm new around here, and learning about all the different instances and the culture/history behind them has been fun but overwhelming. Is there somewhere I could go for a crash-course? 2 months ago:
idk where to find a crashcourse but here are my opinions(!) on top of my head after nearly 3 years on different instances:
- hexbear and lemmygrad are to be avoided by all costs. weird tankies. they are blocked by most instances either way.
- .ml(stands for marxist leninist) is the instance of the lemmy devs(i think?) and is still populated by a lot of non-lunatics. But i blocked the whole instance either way.
- idk what the deal is with quokk.au(?) users but i noticed over the years that they tend to post weird shit/takes.
- kbin was a fediverse alternative to lemmy. kinda fell apart a few years backs. a few instances are still around. they are alright.
- mbin is the successor/a fork of kbin. if you want to try a different ux to lemmy its worth a look.
- beehaw was already a pretty tightly knit community before the reddit api debacle a few years back. they have self proclaimed higher posting standards.
- db0 is an anarchist instance. good for piracy topics. otherwise i dont care or have an opinion on them. tend to be a bit more ai tolerant i believe.
- lemmy.world was/is the biggest instance. they get/got a lot flack for some reasons and others. most of the drama was imho pretty overblown.
- feddit.org is an european instance. most of its users are german.
- piefed is yet another fediverse alternative. i like it.
otherwise there is stuff like lemdroid with a focus on android or instances with a focus on anime. but tbh just start using lemmy and make your own experiences and feel free to block all the weird shit you dont want to see.
- Comment on Confirmed: PS5 console prices are being raised by $100 | VGC 2 months ago:
This comment. But now imagine not beeing computer literate. While consoles lost a bit of their appeal in ease of use the last two generation they’re still a nice little walled garden where most of the stuff is just working for you in the background.
I havent bought a current-gen console since the 360 for various reasons. But i get why somebody just wants a playstation and not a gaming pc.
- Comment on Dumb bitch 2 months ago:
Yup, bashing on arbitrary “generations” is stupid. The whole “okay, boomer” meme manifested after thousands of ridiculous articles about blaming the youth for buying less diamond rings or whatever. It just turned around the absurdity. That was the funny part. Just seriously blaming our elderly is stupid the same way.

I mean yeah. But i’ve seen enough trailers and played enough games in the last 25 years. This just doesnt look like something i like to give the benefit of doubt. I might be wrong. We will see if/when it gets released.
- Comment on EXODUS Gameplay Clips Showcase Combat, Traversal, And Exploration 2 months ago:
This trailer looked so generic that i started to compare its animations to the standard unreal lyra stuff. It feels really assetflippy. That sprinting animation of that huge robot/mech just looks so off. Also the framrate dropping below 30 fps in the trailer is not a good look. especially while the game isnt even running at native 4k. There is some not so pretty TAA/upscaling going on.
Sorry, but i dont think its going to be anything but UE5 Slop.

I dont think so. Maybe once? I dont remember all the distros i tried over the years. As i said it even happened with ubuntu on a thinkpad were i made it a point to do no funky shit at all.
Currently i’m running CachyOS and do lots of funky shit. Fair game. But only because i know i just can roll back if something breaks.
- Comment on Is spreading. 3 months ago:
Well, i made the final switch to linux myself last year and i’m pretty happy all things considered. But while a lot of things improved over the last 10 years some deal breakers are still around. In my case: just this week an update broke my desktop enviroment entirely for the SECOND time since august. I couldnt even log in. Yeah, i had automatic back ups and the issue was solved in 5 minutes.
But thats not my point. Every single linux install i had going since 2012 fucking died on it itself at some point because of an update. On three different thinkpads, three different tower PCs, running like 6 or 7 different distros. On some of these thinkpads i literally only used the browser to watch youtube and shitpost for months. Nothing else. Didnt touch the console once and never ran some random c&p command i didnt understand. Didnt install anything else. Also i used normie distros like ubuntu and the like. Still every single time at some point an update killed the entire GUI/OS. In the past i just switched back to Windows.
Now Windows is so bad that i learned to deal with this shit. Maybe i’m unlucky. Maybe i’m stupid. But this is just a constant for me in the linux experience. IDK how i could recommend Linux to my normie friends/family. I let massgrave run for them for LTSC or extended support stuff. Done, and i will probably never hear a thing about that OS/PC again. Linux? Nah, i’m good. I dont have the time to do first level support for them if something breaks.
