American English was a mistake!
Almacca@aussie.zone 1 hour ago
I like to troll Americans occasionally by calling American English ‘English (simplified)’.

Well that was a fun read!
To be fair, it’s cause you can speak faster that way.

I don’t think it’s a book on accents, its a phonetic book for learning English. I have one for learning French, it’s in English phonetic to pronounce French words. Just a different way to learn the language.

I daresay it was a book sold in America for ‘English Pronunciation’, or something, but it definitely spells out an American accent, which is understandable. Not sure why the person in the post feels so called out by it, other than ignorance of one’s own accent.
I always kind of enjoy reading spelled out accents as a literary exercise. Pratchett was great at it with the Mac Nac Feegle, for e.g., and wasn’t that James Joyce’s whole thing?

There is no lie. It's just tough to admit that it's fairly accurate.

Just tell him that he doesn’t drink real mate, and that spanish doesn’t have that many sh sounds in it.
“I took my yerba mate to yoga class in Mr Miyagis ying yang dojo” is not meant to be pronounced as “Sho shevo mi sherba mate al clase de shoga en el dosho shing shang de señor mishagi”

Neffinal Jabra would be a good stage name for a standup comedian.
