I cleaned the kitchen , the small bathroom and cleaned the cat’s room and trays. I did 1 hour cleaning up in the garden. Did a 45 min walk down the beach. Made a kallax cupboard for in the bedroom. Made some space in living room for another bookshelf. This entailed moving LPs records.

I puked and went back to bed 👍

Why is going to Chemist Warehouse such a stressful experience? Narrow isles with too many people, long waits for prescriptions and then another line to collect them. Or maybe my local is just a bad one. This place is a time suck.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
The need to fluro ticket everything shits me.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Most of the ones I’ve been to are like that. The less terrible ones are the ones with more space like the High St Northcote shop.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
And just the amount of different ads and videos playing everywhere, it’s awful.
Eagle@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
They stuffed up the OHs scripts yesterday. Same name, very different address. Didn’t notice till we got home, but it does make you query the efficacy and safety of their systems.
dumblederp@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
It is a stuff up, but same name is pretty uncommon, and there’s some level of due diligence on your part to check the medication at the store.
Duenan@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
I’ve got 3 of them near me, 1 of them are really packed, another one did some renos and have a bit more space now and the other one in a warehouse like place has plenty of space, I like to go to that one if I can because it’s less squished.
I really hate all their fluro tags. Not really special if everything has a tag like that.
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Think they’re all like that… I hate going there for that reason
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Hey @briongloid@aussie.zone we’re in May not March. I blame Yarrabyte for not turning up today.
Pilk@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
I wonder if the emoji could be moved somewhere other than between the day and the month, too ;)
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Didn’t you hear? We’re time travelling.
Pilk@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Just noticed today that La Trobe St outside State Library Station is now clear for eastbound traffic, definitely a sign we’re getting much closer to opening the munnel. They’ve also laid brand new cobblestone in a side street which is pretty cool.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Wow, it felt like that was never going to finish. It’ll be great to see that whole area open again!
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Yeah, someone else offered an explanation that made more sense and I think I was definitely wrong on the internet. Which is annoying because normally I’m the one being really picky about sources and reading comprehension.
All I can say is that I haven’t been sleeping and have been vomiting today. The past few days have been rough so I wasn’t thinking too clearly when trying to get something that seemed important out there.
Also I’m a bit defensive (when normally more chill) because others have been stirring me up. 😑
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
just hugs

I’ve said hello to more strangers today than in the late 5 years.

it’s 2025 😭
i’m still catching up on 1995
Duenan@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Dammit dammit dammit.
Was so tired the glass lid of my double walled coffee cup slipped out of my hands and shattered.
So devastated about it and I have no replacement for it.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Oh no, does that mean you still have the glass but no lid to go with it? I hate it when that happens, you’d almost rather lose the whole thing
Duenan@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Yeah, I have the bottom but no lid now. It was really good too because it kept my coffee somewhat hot for awhile but also had safety because of the lid so I wouldn’t spill it on anyone.
I liked it a lot, I hate silicon tops.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
I have now officially spent a small fortune on stuff for the new place. A fair bit of it is stuff that needed to be replaced anyway, and some of it is just because I want the place to look nice. It’s been a bit tricky to work out how to place all the furniture, but I think I’ve got a layout that will work (pending measurement for a couple of things). It’s a fairly square lounge/dining area, with foot traffic that will cross somewhat diagonally from the rest of the house to the door to the back yard. I’m not sure it would be possible to get a decent layout if you had a tv. A big couch or dining table would also be tricky.
The biggest purchase is a (very small) dining table and a couple of chairs. I spent nearly as much on new furniture for Miss Meow too - I had been planning to recover the tree she currently has as the frame is good, but it’s not really going to fit in the new place. So now instead of one big corner unit she will have two smaller units and a window hammock. I also bought a couple of pink fluffy footstools that look like her cat bed on legs that I expect she will use for snoozing.
I’ve also bought lots of dull but necessary things - new doormats, drawer and shelf liners, suction cup shelves for the bathroom, felted end caps for all the furniture to stop it scuffing the hard floor. I also upgraded my mop and bucket as the main living area is all hard floor.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
You do realise that Miss Meow will ignore all these facilities, and seek out your best angora sweater to sleep on instead.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Nonsense, she much prefers the sock drawer 🤣
The tree scratcher is probably more for my entertainment than hers, although she does like the uprights for scratching on. I’m trying to stop her clawing up the new couch, so as many alternatives as possible is a good thing. Her main hobby though is progressive snoozing, with a series of ever changing nap spots being utilised on a daily basis. She likes the fluffy beds on the floor, hanging baskets, inside her little tunnel, and the aforementioned sock drawer. So she will probably use most of those types of spots, and the other climbing stand (which is a much more boring wood) will also double as stairs onto the small kitchen trolley that I will be re-purposing as her dog-safe meals area. The hammock on the window will get morning sun so should also make for a good napping spot.
I haven’t forgotten Mr Woof either - his needs are a bit simpler and he doesn’t really need anything new, but I got a couple of fluffy rugs to go in front of the bedroom windows, which are the ones that face the street so he’s likely to want to keep an eye on things from there.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Where did you get this stuff? Might get a sniff from Gibson lol
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
They are all Temu stuff. A lot of the bigger cat stuff is shipping from Australia these days, so it should be arriving in a couple of days.
Catfish@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Loving the cat furniture!
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
That garden themed corner is going to be flippin’ ADORABLE!! Loving the excitement for this move!
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
I find it hilarious when companies like Kmart and Temu photoshop animals into the pictures of pet accessories. They probably couldn’t get a real cat rhough
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Some use stuffed animals instead, which also looks pretty silly. They often get the scale wrong too, most often on purpose to make their items look bigger. You always need to buy with a tape measure in hand and not rely on what things look like.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
I just realised it is not Friday. This is a good thing, as I don’t have to go to work untiil Saturday.

first 5 day week in 2 weeks hits like a ton if bricks hey
Duenan@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Not sure if anyone’s interested in looking at this.
I’ve been playing Expedition 33 and just beat a tough optional boss. It’s a new rpg with an outstanding soundtracked vision and needs some good reflexes.
It’s in 2 parts because I had to take a phone call.
Have fun if you decide to have a look at it.

Nooo, the thunder thighs have struck again and worn through another pair of jeans - my favourite ones at that! But they’ve outlasted quite a few, so I’ll still take it as a win.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
It’s a clear sign that I’ve lived too long away from this place that I look like a lost and bumbling tourist at the wet market. Doesn’t help that I’m brandishing my own bags and containers like my mum does but the stallholders don’t recognise me so I have to explain and stop them from giving me new bags.
Anyway, fresh you tiao!!! 😋 😋 😋

got followed by norman bates yesterday
weird frickin bloke talked to me when i was in the op shop to buy cds, ( i do not talk to strange blokes ) he said he liked the mannequins in the window because they don’t talk or spend money
i ignored him
after a few more stops shopping I went to the train station to go home and sat on a bench on the platform, he walked past 30 seconds and spoke to me , i tried to ignore him again
the odd thing is he went right to end of the platform and then left the station, 🤔

Any recommendations for lunch in Woodend? Four adults two kids.

Today in one of the classes I observed, I heard some young people talking about how silly the Clive Palmer ads are. The thing I love about being in schools is that there are brilliant young minds and many of them can think critically and consider multiple perspectives. The other thing is that school can act as a protective measure against being an asshole in some aspects. A kid said something inappropriate to get a kick out of his mates and the teacher chatted to them about why he said it and why it was the wrong thing to say.
I don’t think the kids are really enjoying my lessons right now, and I guess that’s kind of sad, but okay. I had some teachers in school who made me enjoy some subjects I didn’t love (e.g. had a teacher who taught history through storytelling, English through lots of modelling and active learning, maths through linking it to the universe). Maybe I’m not that right now, but one day I could be.
Another thing is that with kids who have been through trauma, you can potentially be someone who is a stable and trustworthy adult in their lives and show them what a safe relationship looks like. Again, those are VERY big shoes to fill, but I aspire to be someone who supports and advises young people to reach their potential.

I’ve figured out how people make those fancy designed emails that all look like one image (Figma and the snip tool to break it up into parts).
Does anyone know some good resources on graphic design so I can actually make decent looking designs?
I don’t know any graphic design theory and everything I do just looks too bland or busy. I know how to use the tools, now I need to know how to make them look good.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Mr Woof is now clean and I am very damp.
I won’t have my fully enclosed bath I can bathe him in at the new place, I will have to work out a new location. The covered area outside should work fairly well, I just need a way to organise water that is not freezing cold.
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
My tooth broke yesterday while I was eating lunch, so now I’ve got a toothache and dentist’s appt. Hopefully it’s just part of a crown and can be re-glued. The tooth also has a big filling so I’m a bit worried they’ll suggest pulling it out
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Looking for recommendations on both power tools and security cameras. My tools were Ryobi which I liked their reciprocating saw and blower but the mower wasn’t great. I had a good experience with Ozito multitool, and been told apparently bunnings will take them back no questions asked. Open to any recommendations but budgets gonna be fairly tight since i’m starting over and want to spend money on cameras. On that note: Anyone had any installed? Things they liked, things they don’t or installers that were good to work with?
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Everytime I hear beef Wellington I get a little excited. If I was to make individual ones I’d use filo pastry not puff and slather that baby with melted butter. 😋
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
F YES!!! Just had a knock on the door and the police handed me back my mower and whipper snipper plus a 6ah and 5ah battery. Thats the bulk of my replacement costs there! all appears to be working as well. Still short a few tools and batteries, but police know who did it they are just trying to find him.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
The police actually followed up! With that kind of luck you might have to buy a lotto ticket
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Shit that’s lucky!
Duenan@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Wow, I have to be honest, I didn’t expect that to happen. That’s awesome!
Catfish@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Wow! That isn’t usual.
StudChud@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Lol the police did some actual small crime policing! That’s awesome you got those back!! 💜
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Nah sorry gotta push back on that. From my experience with them they’ve been nothing but prompt and professional! I understand that maybe not everyones experiences, but my own in this instance has been pretty great considering the circumstances.
Taleya@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
they usually don’t until they get enough to make it a Big Crime which means the cunt in question actually gets serious conequence
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Fuck yeah dude!!!
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 4 weeks ago
Woah I wonder how they managed that!
