Very hard counselling session today, still glad weâre going but it was very difficult. Weâre both giving each other some space in the house, and Iâve been listening to Radiohead all afternoon*âŠsad face*

They are. Hang in there. Love myself some Radiohead, but maybe ease in to something slightly more upbeat of uplifting.

Iâve never given a fuck about sport tbh and never understood why people get so worked up and passionate about team sports in particular. Admittedly many sports folk are physically attractive but thatâs where my interest ends đ.
Maybe you have to be more inclined to be tribal in nature for team sports in particular.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
The Olympics are the one time countries from all over the world come together in the name of friendship. Sure itâs an ideal, the world can be an awful place, but we need ideals to aspire to.
I love it so much.
MuffinHeeler@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
For me, I love having something to stick on in the background, to occasionally watch. The kids love the idea of the best of the best smashing it out too.
Duenan@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
For me itâs something that I love watching and have taken an interest in. I listen to sports related stuff and it gives me something to do and enjoy.
I support a team and feel passionate about it to the degree that I hate seeing my team pounded and lose that I turn off the tv or switch channels.
Iâm not sporty by any means but in a unique sort of thing it allows me to connect with people at work and have chats to people about it if they follow the same sport that wouldnât otherwise allow me to because my other interests are something that are hard to talk about to others (gaming).
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Have you ever been in an office and youâve scrunched up a piece of paper, aimed at the bin, got it in and others in the room gave a little cheer âshot wscholermann!â?
Well times that by 100. These athletes are the best of the best, on the world stage competing for a medal. Why wouldnât you want to cheer these guys on?
Pilk@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
In addition, Artistic Gymnastics is thing. I have so many new future husbands. đ€€
wscholermann@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I can honestly say thatâs never happened to me.
To be clear I donât wish people ill will, Iâm just very meh about it.
SituationCake@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I donât have any interest in everyday sports. I donât watch it and donât play it. (And I donât gamble, which I think is a big attractor for some people being very into sports). But I enjoy the olympics to see some of the exotic sports like gymnastics and javelin and diving. I donât really care who wins. And the olympics has a different atmosphere, it seems more pure or something? (I know itâs full of cheats, I mean itâs not for profit)
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I made a cake. It has slivered almonds on top.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Slivered almonds remind me of finger and toenail clippings. I still eat them though. They go nicely with stewed apples.
MuffinHeeler@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
And in Asian noodle salads. Have to be toasted though

oztrin@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Morning all.
Friend I havenât seen since - geez, since before Mum died - is coming down for a catch-up and to see the new place (and meet the cats).
Houseunit is a bit messy, so Iâm trying to motivate myself to get out of bed and start cleaning. A difficult task when Sammiâs snuggled into my side.melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Maybe if the friend is a very good friend (or an angel) they might help you while you chat

more boring long tales of adventures in the domestic arts
Some more steps in restoring a pair of antique chairs. Here I have started to strip the old chair seat off, , exposing the springs. I took all of it off, the cover and padding, took out all the tacks, then removed the base and springs. Then I reversed it. Put a new base liner on then sewed the springs back on, then wove new supporting webbing and stapled it on . Put the original kapok padding back on, then a new padding liner, then the tapestry cover. Lastly I will put on a strong fabric liner over the webbing and springs. Nearly done!
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
This is awesome. Thank you. I love seeing the restoration process.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
thanks, itâs my first attempt at this kind of work too, the other chairs I did were just fabric and padding over a wooden chair seat

Some days a surface level clean wonât do and today was one of days. Love the feeling of a freshly cleaned house, but none of the steps to achieve it.
Rewarding myself with a cheesy pasta bake and beer.
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Thatâs the ultimate reward. Enjoy!!!

Dammit. One of my washing gloves has a massive gash. :(
No backups either. One handed washing itâll be for now.

Went to Crown Gold Class tonight to wat h Deadpool & Wolverine.
Jfc, the food there has always been overpriced âshitty cinema foodâ, but now itâs absolutely revolting. I had to spit out my first and only bite of the cheese burger, and my partner couldnât eat her margarita pizza as it was more salty than the heavily salted popcorn. Also why did they take nachos off the menu, something it would take a buffoon to fuck up?
dumblederp@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Itâs pretty hard to fuck up a cheeseburger.
Contentedness@lemmy.nz âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâm going on Sunday because a friend has free gold pass tickets that are about to expire. Is there free popcorn or do you have to buy it??
indisin@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
You get unlimited âfreeâ popcorn if you order/share 5 items from the food menu which costs $110, otherwise you have to buy popcorn separately
Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Yeah, thatâs gross. Itâs wild what places get away with.
Baku@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâve always been curious about crown. I think from memory they have a KFC thatâs open until 3am on Friday nights or something like that.
The one on chapel Street wins though, open til 6am before closing for a whopping 4 hours. Madness!
indisin@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
You know in all my years of living here Iâve never seen that KFC but a quick Google says it exists and is open until 5am.
Iâve probably never seen it because of the golden rule of ânever eat at a Crownâ. I made an exception for the cinema and that was definitely the last time.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Thatâs it, tonight is pizza night⊠No energy for much else⊠couldnât get myself out of bed/couch let alone the house. Had a bit of a think through finances today, and itâs been sobering to look at the budget I need to set so I can go down to 4 days a week while also reaching savings goals. But I think I can allow myself a pizza tonight, at least.
calhoon2005@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Family of four pizza night last week was $107âŠđł
Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
So hard to wrap my head around. Meanwhile in Singapore, every coffee related drink is an average of $10. Even in SGD, that is $8, which is wild. But even Melbourne coffee is pushing up over $6. (I guess when it comes to commercial rent I can understand why.)
I sometimes wonder when Iâll one day just go, nope. I think itâs because Iâm not a big spender in other areas that I kind of justify the cost.
But pizza⊠I love it, but rarely eat it anymore because even consistency is an issue. The fancy pants pizza is nice, but Iâm still always hungry.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Ouchhh. I just paid $25 for a large seafood pizza, which isnât that bad in todayâs world but isnât gonna be a weekly thingâŠ
Baku@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâm feeling like a prison warden with all the keys I have now. Iâve got 7 keys on my main ring + 2 trolley tokens, a resus shield, and a little knicknack thing the old LT gave me from Indonesia. When I moved in, I was annoyed at having to carry 2 keys around with me
MuffinHeeler@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
When my neighbours moved in they rekeyed the whole house. Screen doors, sliding doors, solid doors, window locks⊠everything. They now have 1 key for their entire house. I think itâs a great idea, but I didnât ask how much it cost.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I looked up the prices recently - it depends on how many locks you have, but a whole house is a few hundred dollars. From memory it was a call out fee and $70 per lock.
oztrin@aussie.zone âš3â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Peruvian restaurant has been tried (excellent) and friend has decided to head straight to Brunswick to hopefully avoid the worst of the traffic.

Took the kids to the Tram Museum today. It was a big hit, they just liked climbing up and down the trams. I liked it as someone who didnât grow up in Melbourne I got to learn a bit more about the history of the trams and the tram network.
I also learnt in a video that Melbourne has the largest tram network in the world at 250km of tramline. Whilst itâs good to have that title, it doesnât sound like much. We could certainly do more to up those numbers.
