Thanks for being so supportive guys. Honestly, itâs been a real blessing to have all your kind words â€ïž
They sound like they would have been a toxic/backstabbing employer anyway
hugs the blessing is ours, you are an inspiration đ
Youâre all good Gibsy. Weâre always around if you want to chat
Employment extended for 2 more years. Yay!!
Nice one! That must be a relief
Heck yeah.
Congrats! Does that mean you dont have to keep applying for new gigs? or still wanna get out of dodge?
Gives me some breathing space to only apply for gig I actually want, instead of anything and everything. Iâll keep my eye out still, but will be very picky. My manager is supportive of me getting a higher paying role and might advocate to make my current role a level higher.
At least I donât have to deal with interviews.
congratulations - always a relief/achievement
Thanks friend :)
I can put the CVs away for another year
Be gentle with yourselves today folks. Itâs been a long week but itâs finally a beautiful sunny autumn day. Treat yoâself. Go on, I give you permission.
Thanks homey. Nice kind words to start the day :)
Feeling really down today. Already ate a lot of baked goods at work.
sigh
Hug. Sorry to hear that. I approve of baked goods treats though. Maybe a little sunshine break too?
Iâm having a slow soft day to help my back get better. I might tidy my work area. :)
Nice. A tidy workspace always makes me feel better.
Getting back into the gym helps lift that weight of anxiety on my chest.
I know gym gets a bad rap because of the way some people behave, but it really is great for mental health
gym helps lift that weight
I see what you did there.
exercise is the best
and before anyone says it doesnât replace metal health help, the first thing my psychs to me said was that exercise is part of every mental health treatment plan and that I was expected to exercise
Exercise is fine. Gyms, like hairdressers, suffer from an excess of mirrors.
I have not thought at all about what to do with the weekend yet and then I realised next weekend is a long weekend and I also have no ideas for that.
BUT I am finally getting my dashcam installed on Tuesday so maybe I should hit the road for the long weekend and see if I can get some Dashcam Owners Australia footage of some dickhead doing dickheadery.
In my experience you wonât have to drive far for dickheadery or arseholitude. Theyâre everywhere.
The Macedon Ranges are lovely this time of year.
Go up to bright? thats doable in a day. Its a big day, but its doable.
Considering blowing out the Easter long weekend into the next week and doing a significant drive. Back to looking at the map and thinking about whereâs new and interesting. I have never been west of Adelaide city in SA, or really anywhere in SA besides Adelaide city and a suburb around it or two. Adelaide is barely worth slowing down for but maybe Port Lincoln or Flinders Ranges could be alright.
Iâve done the east coast up and down a bunch of times so itâs not super appealing to me unless I decide to go FNQ which Iâve only visited twice but I do like me some tropical holiday.
Will have to do some pondering.
Have you been to Victor Harbour? Or anywhere on the Limestone coast? Nice drive at this time of year. Whale watching etc.
All these days of late finishes and early starts have finally gotten to me. I conked out at 4 and weâve got a conference dinner at 7, but I donât think I have the energy to go. Thereâs a yuppy restaurant on the floor above me so I think I might just go there for dinner. I ended up leaving the conference 2 hours early too
I feel bad since they gave me a grant to come see and do everything, and I donât want to show my appreciation by not doing half of it, but Iâm trying to make myself feel a bit better with the knowledge even if I did pay for my own ticket Iâd still be going for a nap
Only do what youâre comfortable with but remember some opportunities only come around once in a lifetime. Take what you can grab now.
Nobody goes to all the things! Sleep well, Re-brain.
assuming this is an academic conference, rest assured that everyone has skipped out on a few sessions.
Itâs a sort of cross and very diverse crowd. Thereâs a combination of young people with state care experiences and profesional development types attending, and all of the workshop type things (idk what theyâre called) are run by mostly YP with a couple of academic types sprinkled through
You look after yourself. It does no one any good if you are too stressed/overwhelmed to fully enjoy the experience. I think an early exit sounds like the right strategy. Then you will be all systems go for Saturday/Sunday (if you feel like it). This should be a good experience for you - so take what steps to you need to, to fully enjoy the bits you do end up doing. Itâs a very mature response to realise that the gas tank is empty, and that you need time and space to refuel.
Ah damn it. Youâve just reminded me I need to do talking tomorrow :/
Iâve decided to just ad lib it. As long as Iâve got the names of the people I need to introduce I should be right
Been fighting a gut bug of some description the last few days. Are actual food today (yay) feel nauseaus now (boo). Been working from home because we are understaffed at the moment but did not get much done today. Iâm stuffed. Gonna turn everything off and lay here in the lastof the sun rays.
Happy weekend everyone đ„
Hope you feel better soon friend đș
Lovely day for a walk back from the dentist with an entirely numb mouth. Also, turns out my phone has this AI assisted action pan photo mode.
Buying a tiny personal wheatbag for the cat was a good call. Iâve heated it up and tucked it in next to her. Hoping at some point sheâll put her head on it so the warmth can help the ear pain and let the antibiotic drops sink in deeper.
Iâm going to be wrecked for a week but I got the ear wash. Hopefully it cleans the wiggies out so the medicated drops can do their thing.
The amount of pinned daily threads is starting to get a bit silly. Theyâre not even from this year!
Managed to write a whole bunch of emails and applications (10+), so yay me, although Iâm completely knackered.
Also feel like I might be mildly cursed. Every time I contact an RACV drive instructor, I get asked for details, and promptly ghosted afterwards. 2 more, and Iâll be out of the ones that serve the local area.
Jokeâs on me for buying the vouchers first, and then trying to schedule an instructor, rather than going the other way around.
In my experience with the Lemmy.world instance, sometimes pinned posts will not âun-pinâ the next day. You need moderator status to unpin them I think.
pinned threads where?
I think itâs a federation bug, when I still was on my lemm.ee account, the unpinning isnât getting synced.
Thatâs unusual because with in 10 minutes of me posting the thread at midnight some kind soul pins it and unpins the old one.
Ok, I wonât say Iâve fixed this bug, but I have managed a dodgy hack around it that fixes it sorta. In the immediate term, it has been fixed it for lemmy.world and lemmy.bdzer0.com users. Iâll look at other instances soon.
The answer is to re-pin the post, wait a while (10 minutes is enough, but I might try reducing it and experimenting) for that to propagate/federate across Lemmy, and then Unpin the post. Doing it this way unpins the post properly.
It appears the original unpinning for some dates didnât get exported to other instances. Iâm still not sure what was special about November and December 26, I got a bit distracted with the solution and not bothering much with the cause.
acquiesce your soul, time drifting never alone, sleeping pills take holdâŠ
(Srsly why hypnotic no work)
piranha noises
Hell yeah
Have you heard it before? Itâs a catchy little song.
Try to register the Mykis I have to top up because itâs been so long, all of them have expired. Shit system

This fuckwit washed my window without my permission.
Reminds me of when another fuckwit threw dish soap all over my instructerâs car during my driving exam.
I get mega social anxiety on these guys. I cant even look at the video.
It doesnât look like he was trying to chase you for money, so maybe heâs just (thinking heâs) doing a public service?
Iâm still up watching this doco. Holy moly.
I feel so bad and sick, everything hurts đ
But I am utterly obsessed with this artist and song, Red Wine Supernova - Chappell Roan
Itâs honestly such a bop, and itâs giving me life rn
Decided im heading out tomorrow night to a few bars. Itâll be good to get some socialising done.
I had to wait a period to apply eardrops after washing out the cats ears, so after all the hassle getting hold of the damn wash and then falling asleep I missed the drops this morning.
I got home and crash napped with loads of wet laundry waiting to be hung. The washed and dried laundry is piling up waiting to go into space bags against moths and fleas (and to contain the damn clothes). I put dishes to soak in the morning but a sink leak flooded the floor and everything in the cabinet underneath while I slept.
Iâm so fucking tired. My mental state has been fucked for weeks. Iâve now overexerted myself badly two days in a row when doing it even once has real consequences. Fuck my shit body. Fuck my disability supports so frequently falling through for the past 2-3 weeks, and of course extra shit happening on top for more labour.
But the cat has had her supper and pain meds, and her evening eardrops. The latest fresh load of laundry has been chucked into the energy inefficient dryer, the very bottom items pulled out of the soaked cabinet and an already damp towel that was possibly due for rewashing has been thrown down on the puddle on the floor. Iâm folding dry towels and puppy pads to clear the clothes horse and empty the wet basket. Iâll check if the towels need to be rewashed and use them for further mopping up first.
After a rest I can then do the catâs bowls. Then my dishes. Then fully empty the undersink cupboard and wipe it out with spray cleaner, and sort out the soaked cardboard packaging.
I am going to be in so much pain the next few days
Wow it really is true that Adelaide is a sleepy city! The mail lodgement time in their street post boxes is mid day. All the ones near me are either 3, 4, or 5. Guess my postcards wonât be arriving for a while!
Note for anyone catching a tram down Flinders Street, one of the trams made a most horrible squeaky noise before breaking down/stopping. According to the driver, something got stuck under the tram, so watch out for delays there.
Movie Review
El Conde. Netflix.
this movie is awesome. First thing. Itâs different and new. The hardest thing to do in the world is to make something different and new.
Imagine Iñårritu ( I googled them tildes ) made a parody of Isabelle Allendeâs tiresome sickly sweet books ( yes I have read some ) , Sound of Music, Interview With a Vampire, Knives Out and Judgement at Nuremberg .
Visually, itâs really very beautiful. Tawdry scenes in horrible places with horrible people look like art. Even the dialogue of the English translation is very good, the Spanish must be like poetry. The story is a mind fuck.
Scenes that really stick. The nun learning to fly was lovely. A joyful mind using a gift from Satan.
The scene where Pinochet is describing some of his crimes against humanity. I have been hearing this stuff for decades and have to intellectualise or I get too distressed.* At the same time * he is blending a heart and then drinks it. Which makes me feel disgusted and sick.
!!! Shouldnât the description of his crimes have made me feel the same? Am I numb. đ Not unwillingly, but I have to make myself numb or I canât function to do good in the world/fight these bastards in my own way.
I will watch again.
5 Hobbits
Alright, got kiddos artwork in the post for his Nan. Shes gonna love it. Also, 5.20 for an a4 envelope!? Yikes!
Lovely day out there today. Iâve done a bit of gardening, been down to Bunnings for supplies and am planning a bit more gardening. Lots of ratty summer plants needing to come out at the moment.
When my wife needed a new car, I said to her âdo you just want my new SUV and Iâll buy a shitbox for myself?â âNo no no, I want my ownâ. Ok. sure, i mean you helped pick the SUV but whatever. I subtly pushed her into a compromise weâd both be happy with on a hunch, and boy was I right cause sheâs nicked my car again! Officially, the reasoning is âDiesel is a lot cheaper at the momentâ, Fair! but would that really stop you driving your new (to you) car? Iâm not buying it. I think I just got screwed out of another car by her haha
Oh man⊠I also forgot my mask when forced to use the bus. Hope I donât get roned because then I really will be screwed
My kids know my affinity for comfy warm clothes and forced me to buy an Elite Eleven hoodie late last year.
I am very glad I listened, as itâs the most comfy fleece garment Iâve ever owned.
Also, I may be the oldest person to wear one, if yesterdayâs trip to the footy is anything to go by.
Cheers everyone đș
There will be a dedication to Steve Harley tonight. RIP. đ¶

I have some tradies in the house today, and Iâve just walked upstairs to find two of them giving Gwyn a belly rub and Gwyn lying flat on his back, loving life. Was so funny. Heâs such a little belly rub slut and I love how friendly he is.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone âš8â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I believe it has been a while since the Gwyn tax has been paidâŠ
Pilk@aussie.zone âš8â© âšmonthsâ© ago
To be honest a two hands belly rub from tradies sounds pretty nice
