Am listening to Mushroom Case daily.
Anyone got an equivalent podcast for the Diddy trial? Stuck at home for a while, need trashy entertainment…

I love my mum, a lot, but whenever we soend time together, something builds up between us until she explodes in a tirade of telling me all the things about me that she dislikes. Could take months, could take years. After hearing it all enough times, I finally decided it’s easier to just to remove the problem of spending time together to free her up to spend it with people whose company she actually enjoys. Much better for my mental/emotional health.
Thanks for the hugs :)

I knew, because there was deeply traumatic period of time when Australians of some renown were doing it in public - like swimmers at the olymoics, etc

My Dad has a family that visit him, and have been known to wander into the house and ask for food. They also bring their fledglings to visit each season. It is super, super cute to see my gruff old Dad chatting away to his magpies. The old softy keeps insects for them.

opened my front door today, and a maggie was outside my front gate. It was completely unfussed by my ratbag younger dog losing his shit at the sight of a magpie, and instead proceeded to tease/warble at him through the fence. It was very cute.

I dont really speak to my mother anymore. tonight, for the first time in several decades, I got a little baked, chilled by the fire and then decided not to worry about Mothers Day at all…

Nothing has encouraged me more to have serious conversations with political fence sitters about what an absolute skid mark Clive Palmer is than the amount of spam I have received from him this week.

that’s the problem - I’m not sure who’s not talking to whom/who is drawing (in)appropriate boundaries. But thank you for your well wishes - much appreciated

Have had a contemplative sunday. Am recovering from surgery, resting in bed, thinking about hiw/why I havent really spoken to my very elderly mother in years. Is this the painkillers talking, or sensibility?

I mean, it’s an excellent cafe. The back of house staff are all the same. I’ve also done some digging, and as I suspected, the owners have a bunch of cafes around Melbourne - I think they probably share/rotate staff

There’s a cafe I have been coming to every tuesday morning for months. I dont think I’ve ever seen the same staff more than a few weeks running.

can anyone recommend a genuinely good (jewellry) engraver in the CBD? I used to go to the old dude in port phillip arcade, but he stopped during COVID.

ditto. I took a break one day for “just a bit” and never went back. Have a glass extremely occasionally, but don’t miss it a jot.

I got a new dog recently (not a puppy). He is even more stupid than my previous dog, and that says a lot. I didnt know it was possible for a dog to be entirely uncoordinated. Hopeless doesnt begin to describe him.
He is the very best boy.

yeah, everyone has cubes, which is weird, because a block lasts so much longer. How is one supposed to keep a bathtub full of ice for guests’ drinks over two consecutive scorchers with jist cubes?
(NB: that’s not really what I’m doing, but I do need something that will last longer than cubes!)

A question for the hive mind: does anyone know what metro stores (e.g. a servo chain, supermarket etc) reliably sell bags of ice blocks? as in, one big block, not ice cubes?
