As a PCGamer i don’t care about the GTA 6 release, so go ahead and release in November.
He continues: “If we wanted to make some noise, we’d do it in style. I’d invite Sam Houser to come face me in a karaoke joint of his choice. CEO to CEO. I’m pretty sure the code prevents the CEO of Rockstar from declining a rock-off challenge.”
What a reference. I thought that Tenacious D movie was overall pretty bad, but the musical segments at the beginning and end were phenomenal.
The Pick of Destiny was pretty bad?! Oh man, agree to disagree. I’m not even a stoner and I love it.
Hey, to each their own. I’m not a stoner either, and I kind of assumed it was mandatory, but I’m glad you enjoyed it. I just wish it was more like the musical segments that bookended it.
I’ve called the cops, they’re on their way.
I am one of the people giving zero fucks about GTA6, because it is not available on PC, it is far too expensive, and Rockstars illegal firing of employees disqualifies them from ever receiving a cent from me anyways. Maybe i’ll pirate it when it releases on PC in a few years, but if i need a GTA fix I am going to play GTA 4, Vice City or San Andreas (and GTA2 for the lulz)
I’ll get GTA 6 once it is fully cracked and I can download it knowing full well it is on my local machine.
I’m sick and tired of buying not being owning and them having fucking anticheats. Bruh, let me OWN what I pay for!
The way the ps5 hacking scene is looking you might just be able to to that shortly after the game releases.
Far more interested in Fire Emblem and Zelda than GTA.
NS2 is eating good.
I’ve been loving Fortune’s Weave lately. The soundtrack is really good, and having come from 3H, the presentation is gorgeous
Never played three houses. This is my first Fire Emblem since the GBA. So far really enjoying it!
There are plenty of gamers who are going to pass on GTA6, sure. But Rockstar is absolutely going to dominate the kind of gamer who pays full price on launch. Rockstar is going to vacuum up everyone who enjoys this type of game as well as anyone susceptible to FOMO or hype.
Fomo is especially stupid for a game like GTA. I can sort of get it for the average meme game out there, you’re probably going to miss part of the fun if you’re not playing when everyone else is, but GTA is unfortunately not shutting down anytime soon. It’ll continue to milk its customers for the next decade and a half.
The FOMO will operate much the same way as a hit movie or TV show. People are talking about it, including spoilers, when it’s brand new.
I don’t even understand why GTA VI is such a big thing. The gameplay formula has been the same since GTA 3. It’s nothing revolutionizing or a breakthrough in a specific setting. It’s a pretty standard game that looks good, but feels identical to any other GTA.
It’s a gameplay formula many people like (including mainstream crowds), a new GTA only comes out every few years which gives space to prevent that formula getting stale, and other AAA games are rarely able to implement that formula to the same scale and degree of detail. They tend to set a new standard from a technical standpoint.
I don’t much care for the series, but it’s not that surprising that it’s a big deal.
There are arguably only two other GTAs that will feel similar to this, and even those two can feel quite different from one another. GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas are so much more arcadey than 4 and 5.
What happened to the GTA killer games? Theres no more saints row, no more sleeping dogs, can the Yakuza games be considered contemporaries? GTA is the only one to stand the test of time, so if you want a game like that you’re going to have to play it.
I mean GTA is only releasing on consoles? This is almost actually better time to release a game since some people might avoid the November and it gives easier time to get visibility in Steam.
That’s why I am releasing my game on the same week as GTA 6.
I have:
Star Wars: Zero Company Orbitals Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Control 2 FFXIV
all going at the same time for the next few months. I could not care less about GTA.
This is my exact line up. I’m not interested in GTA at all. Especially since it’ll likely be 30 fps or 60fps with shit graphics.
with shit graphics.
Are you joking?
A fellow warrior of light!
Hell yeah.
I finally just got all my classes to level 100 this month. Now I just need to play Beastmaster.
My free company also finally got into building airships and stuff so we’ve been doing that.
November? Oh, I’m excited for several things. I will probably be picking up Psycho Sleuth and Amnea28 around that time.
I’m also somewhat hopeful that Aliya 2 comes out then. It’s a big thing in China.
I am also monitoring Reverie Eclipse. The previous stuff made by this dev doesn’t inspire confidence, so I’m curious if this game will end being a big blunder by November.
I am also patiently awaiting Become, a game that goes through the early life of you, the person reading this. It specifically goes through the challenges of how you won the first race you ever competed in.
And this one comes out a bit before November, but I’ll mention it anyway. Red Chat Ritual has a big “spooky village in the Deep South” vibe. It shows promise.
I am excited for several things as well… Such as, checks back log… Fuck
Ohhh well, I won’t be complaining about finally playing Witcher 3, maybe a 2nd Baldurs gate play through.
Devolver aren’t exactly what I have in mind when thinking about “indie” games.
Why not? They publish indie game.
How can you be independent of a publisher, and have a publisher? Its not indie, its just smaller studios.
Tbh these are totally different markets. So why not.
Hey indie games: If it could run on the PS Vita, make a .vpk and sell it on your site (like the recent wave of GBC games), the vita modders will come!
I'm way more interested in indie games than I am "AAA" titles that cost crazy amounts of money and come from companies that treat their devs like shit, then lay them off to make more money.
I will give a legally binding guarantee to anyone that wants one that I won’t buy gta 6 in November.
In November of any year or just 2026? 😛
Contrast with the Silksong release where everyone was suddenly like “you know what, our game needs at 3 more months of development even though we’ve been at 1.0 grade for months.”
Didn’t Silksong also release around the same time as some major AAA game and bodied it in sales?
Yuuuup
And for $20, which, kudos to them for being modest but they really could have charged more.
Good, having some options to look at over something that I don't particularly care about is a good thing! I won't be getting GTA6, nor could I be convinced to do so because that type of game is not my cuppa...Often indie games are more my vibe these days, as they don't have big exploitative companies behind them!
“Why should we just give up the entire month of November?”
Because of GTA 6 and Zelda Remake.
wow forever vs gta 6

Seems like a great opportunity on PC. No GTA 6 there and no big multiplatform releases either because all of those made way for GTA.

only “big” release I can think of for the PC is WoW Forever.
THE_GR8_MIKE@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
And the discourse I’m hearing from the Wow guys is they literally do not care about GTA. Unless you’re my cousin who is, seemingly the only one of his group that will be getting both. If you play Wow, you have a PC and so, well, there ya go. Unless you have a PS5 as well lol

You don’t have to like those games, but these are big (some of the biggest this year) PC releases.
