Make it make sense.
Of course you’re allowed to disagree, but the reason they use a mod to skip cutscenes is because as a community they decided the cutscenes aren’t interesting for a speedrun. They also inhibit entry into speedrunning the game. There’s no speed tech or skill required to watch a cutscene, the skill comes in routing and executing the rest of the game.

Awesome win for that user.

The fidelity holds up decently, it’s more just the graphic direction. Everything’s so grey.
- Comment on Indie dev defends criticism of Steam refund abuse amid review bombing of his game: 'It's wrong to refund a game after having fun with it and completing it' 1 day ago:
A dev that is abusing the system is going to be delisted by Valve real quick, methinks.

Disagree. AC 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations are good and I love them, genuinely, but AC1 is undeniably the start of the series to me. For one, the modern storyline was genuinely half of the pull for me, I was so invested. And never have I ever felt more like an actual assassin than in AC1 I think. Every game after drifter further and further away from assassin and into generic action.

The parkour in the OG is definitely slower than Unity. The parkour engine or mechanics, whatever you want to say, came a long way and I think in general only really improved. Pretty much everything else for me got worse with each new release, though.
- Comment on Day 721 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing 4 days ago:
The parkour has improved in many ways, but no AC game has quite captured the vibes of the first.

I’m a huge Elder Scrolls fan. I met my partner on Elder Scrolls Online. I have pretty much zero faith in Elder Scrolls VI being any good.

I’m confused. Doesn’t the current system incentivize what you’re saying?
- Comment on Indie Dev Says Game Refunded 55,000 Times Via Steam Loophole 5 days ago:
And if devs try to game it, I’m sure Valve will kick them off or something. And, yeah, customers could be informed before buying the expected play time so they know what they are getting.
- Comment on Indie Dev Says Game Refunded 55,000 Times Via Steam Loophole 5 days ago:
Feels like a tough problem to solve, but I don’t think it’s unsolvable. Maybe the refund window could be shorter for games that report themselves as short/small/micro/whatever. Or ineligible for automatic refunds if you have a certain achievement (this one probably is not a good idea).

This is like ordering a steak, eating it, then demanding a refund because it had too much gristle for your liking.

Speedrunning is undeniably still the bread-and-butter, but if you haven’t checked it out in a while I’d give it another look. They do more and more not-quite-speed-run things. Randomizers, showcases, rhythm games, in 2025 they even had a gaming themed concert!

- Comment on Hideo Kojima ‘really sad’ about PlayStation killing discs, ‘frightened’ for future of ownership 1 week ago:
Not true for the majority of games, however there have been a few that have done this or something like this.
Been seeing this sentiment a lot in the wake of the news and want to stress, most games still come on disc these days. FF7 Rebirth, for example, is so big it comes on two.

Why would a legal battle ensue? I don’t believe OP is suggesting profiting off any of these IPs, just providing a database.

Well, if you were connected to the internet, it likely had patches it wanted to download.
If you’re not connected to the internet, or refuse the patches (if possible), the disc should install and play. There are some games out there that don’t include the whole game on disc (minus previously mentioned patches, of course) but they are the minority afaik.

It’s hilarious. I don’t even really like that genre of music and still found it hilarious. The gameplay catches people off guard because it’s a peculiar mix of RTS and third person action hack/slash.

Decided to do some reading!
CONSORT guidelines state that these terms should no longer be used because they are ambiguous. For instance, “double-blind” may mean that the data analysts and patients were blinded; the patients and outcome assessors were blinded; or the patients and those administering the intervention were blinded. The terms also fail to convey the information that was masked and the extent of unblinding. It is not sufficient to specify the number of parties that have been blinded. To describe an experiment’s blinding, it is necessary to report who has been blinded to what information, and how well each blind succeeded.
So double blind doesn’t have to mean the researchers or even the participants were blinded, just that two parties were.
In this specific study, I think it’s that the data analysts were not aware of which groups the data came from.
- Comment on Toothbrush heads 2 weeks ago:
Can it not still be double blind if the participants don’t know precisely what is being measured or studied? For example, perhaps they know they are involved in a toothbrush study, but not that one group will have different brushes, or precisely what measurements are being taken.
