My friends and I like to play these types of games together since they are really just big movies. And passing the controller around is fun since really it’s just making some quick and simple-ish choices and everyone gets to be stressed out.

Finish Control, then hit Alan Wake 2, then this.

“What rhymes with orange…?”
“uhh…door hinge?”
I still think about this sometimes.

Riding in that boat in the desert and being in that “time bubble” where there was only water around you is still one of the coolest things Zelda has done, I think. And the music in that spot was very good.
Of all the things in that game, I remember that area the most.

I loved WD2, and I purposefully never bought/got the lethal weapons if I could help it. You probably get a couple as a matter of course in the game (I don’t remember), but I always just used the stun gun or melee - though hitting someone with an 8-ball on a rope is probably going to do some damage.
I don’t think any game since has made it as fun to pilot a little drones like this game. I loved being able to casually sit outside and sneak into places with the drones.

I played this on PS5 at launch, and while I maybe hit a few bugs through the whole game, nothing was game-breaking for me. Maybe I got lucky, who knows.
But I also really enjoyed the game. I’m sad we probably won’t see these characters again any time soon.
- Comment on Valve has raised Steam Deck prices in the US 6 days ago:
“We can’t get mad at Gabe and Valve! PC Master Race loves not being able to buy physical games and loves buying a license to them from Valve!”
Waiting for the “bu-bu-bu-Game Cards!” response to this. I can still sell a game card.
- Comment on Valve has raised Steam Deck prices in the US 1 week ago:
I hope people here give Valve the same flack they gave Nintendo and Sony for raising prices.
Hell, the Switch 2 went up $50 and everyone on Lemmy lost their god damned minds in that thread because “Nintendo bad” or whatever. But I’m sure because it’s our sweet baby angel Gabe on his 20 yachts we’ll all be reasonable about the $200+ upcharges.
Look, none of these companies WANT to raise prices on these consoles. It’s just the AI bullshit and stupid ass tariffs ruining everything. That’s what needs to change.

That mini game would have to manually tie each hook and lure onto the line.
- Comment on Is there an "Avoid Amazon" community for people who want to support smaller online retailers? 1 week ago:
I actually don’t totally agree with the shipping part of this.
Anecdotally, I’ve found that pretty much all of the “big box” stores have good shipping now, and often for free (so long as you hit a price point, of course). And at least in my city, Walmart or Best Buy often ships within a day and it only takes 2-3 days to get the product(s).
Now, there can certainly be a conversation on whether or not it’s good to buy things from these companies, which is a good conversation to have. But their shipping is often good.

- Comment on Nintendo Confirms It Has Under-Wraps Switch 2 Games Due Later This Year, as Share Price Drops Following Console Price Hike 3 weeks ago:
I don’t know if I agree Nintendo customers will get upset that the console may “outdated” in a couple of years.
The Switch was outdated on day one. It struggled to render Kakariko Village in BotW at a steady frame rate. But did that really stop the system from selling millions? Not really. The average consumer kind of doesn’t care about that stuff.
That said, the Switch 2 is certainly more expensive than the Switch 1 so things may be different this time.

I hope Shai gets his slump sorted out.
“Slump” is really wild to say for someone who just scored 30+ in a close-out game, but he hasn’t really seemed himself this series.

Right?
Sold more than predicted at launch (wasn’t it one of the fastest selling consoles ever?), had a steady holiday (I assumed everyone that wanted a Switch 2 got one by Christmas or bought one as soon as they could because of tariff threats), then this spring I remember seeing they had really strong sales numbers again.

It’s basically what Sony and Microsoft have done for their entire console careers generation to generation: made a thing that’s slightly faster with perhaps some better controllers.

But after you do that once is it really that fun?
- Comment on Game franchises you like, but wish were anothet genre of video game? 1 month ago:
Turns out: Pokemon.
I tend to only play a Pokemon game every decade or so because the formula has been basically the same since the original: you catch pokemans and then cock fight them. And I just only have so much bandwidth for that.
But over here in Pokopia I’m building habitats for them and we are all hanging out, and it’s awesome. Yes, I will build you a little house, Bulbasaur.

Even the “big map” thing is done better by other companies at this point.
There’s basically one loading screen in KCD2 (besides pure fast travel) and it’s between the two giant maps in the game. Otherwise, you can walk Henry’s silly ass from one end of the map to the other and go into any number of buildings and never see a loading screen.
And most games do this type of asset streaming now, so when Bethesda rolls up with a “open world” RPG with loading screens all over the place it’s like “what is this?”

I feel like Bethesda had their moment in the sun with Skyrim and Fallout 3, but since those days they really haven’t made a big RPG that’s felt good.
And as I enter hour 120+ in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, still happily playing DLC and side quests, I can’t imagine wanting to go back to play a Bethesda RPG. They’ve been lapped, in my opinion, at this point.

Had the dumbshit U.S. president not shit out a bunch of tariffs along with every AI company buying up future stock of computer parts, I really don’t think Sony would have increased the price of these consoles.
They know it’s a bad look to do so. Microsoft also had to raise prices on their consoles last year.

Exactly.
No one needs to worship Steam. Gabe will never let you on one of his 50 yachts.
