Came for shitposts, left with existential crisis.
Mikina@programming.dev 1 day ago
You left? Murderer.
Mac@mander.xyz 23 hours ago
I’d argue it wasn’t premeditated.
Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 14 hours ago
This is too high quality to be a shitpost, moderator please ban OP and give me Lila’s number.

Somehow that got me thinking of Roku’s Basilisk again. If you don’t know that, I’m sorry for mentioning. :) But it’s also a cool thought experiment.
Donkter@lemmy.world 5 hours ago
This actually does a good job of showing why Roko’s Basilisk is stupid. You create the concept by thinking about it much like Lila. You only care about it as an act of faith, no better than believing a vengeful God exists and will banish you to hell if you don’t follow their rules.

Bye, Lila.

Reminds of an old joke…
Descartes goes down to a hot dog vendor.
“Gimme a hotdog.”
The hotdog vendor asks “you want mustard on that?”
“I think not,” says Descartes, vanishing instantly.
smeenz@lemmy.nz 2 hours ago
Heisenberg knows exactly how fast Decarte is moving now.
tourist@lemmy.world 16 hours ago

gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 21 hours ago
Thing about a concept is, while I can project onto it a sense of being, emotion, the desire to exist, those are still just projections onto something that is incapable of generating those on its own.
“Lila, you cannot cease to exist because you never came into existence in the first place,” I said to the substanceless non-thing in my mind. I never made a being; I projected my own fear of nonexistence onto a golem made of neurotransmitters and glutamate.
That all being said, tonight when I get off work Lila and I are going to sit on the couch, watch a couple episodes of Invincible, and make out.
Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 19 hours ago
So you’re saying if something only ever existed in your head, it never existed?
Well, the problem with that is that the idea of solid objects is a mental construct. Science deals in four fundamental forces governing the behaviour of quarks, gluons, and leptons. Science doesn’t deal in “chairs”, or “the mona lisa”, or “justice”. You do.
DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 10 hours ago
Oh, great. Now everything is disappearing. Are you happy now!?
Dulus_No@lemmy.zip 12 hours ago
Who’s Lila?
NotSafeForWorld@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 hours ago
I see what you did there and salute you
snoons@lemmy.ca 1 day ago
RIP Lila. See you in the backrooms ig. o7
teslekova@lemmy.ml 7 hours ago
Lila exists only in your own head.
However, so do you.
ki4jgt@feddit.org 11 hours ago
Lila still exists, whether I think of her or not.
eleefece@lemmy.world 17 hours ago
I´ve seen this post before, around a year ago, so… Is this the same Lila from before? or a new Lila? If she’s the same, does she remember that she ceased to exist? or it is as it never happened?
SaltyIceteaMaker@lemmy.ml 14 hours ago
and if you build a new lila out of the old planks… no wait i think i switched something up
Schadrach@lemmy.sdf.org 13 hours ago
It’s either the Ship of Lila or Lila’s Socks…and now there’s some kinky weirdo out there who has committed Lila to the spank bank forever in response to the notion that she might have feet.
DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 10 hours ago
She only exists as long as people are thinking about her, so for her, only a few hours have passed.
From her point of view we all age at an alarming rate.
cley_faye@lemmy.world 16 hours ago
I give you a choice Lila. The void, or the wank panzer mind palace.
qarbone@lemmy.world 13 hours ago
Wow, instantly chose the void. Hi, I’m Lila’s executor of the will
Uh…yeah, it just has “NO.” written in very big letters. That’s rare but not unheard-of.
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 11 hours ago
who?
CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 20 hours ago
Shit Lila is lucky, have you guys been paying attention to “existing” lately? This shit sucks
Marty_TF@lemmy.zip 23 hours ago

If you manage to beat the game without dying, the Windfish will give her wings and let her leave your imagination.

I love love love this game so mich ever since I first played it on the gameboy
Maultasche@lemmy.world 10 hours ago
I usually replay it once per year, cycling through all three versions. Sometimes, I even use the anniversary Game & Watch

She walked straight to the door that says “Childhood trauma. Do not enter!” Opened it and since then she’s screaming. I am taking zero responsibility for that one.
NihilsineNefas@slrpnk.net 1 day ago
Ahb good, finally someone to keep Bob company.
The conceptual post-nonexistence space powered by every autist that ever existed who refuses to forget even the most minor of OCs is probably pretty occupied by this point.
Aqivex@fedinsfw.app 23 hours ago
I worry sometimes. Could the OCs become unionized or something and escape that space? They’re all already demented and radicalized.
NihilsineNefas@slrpnk.net 23 hours ago
They could, but there are beanbags, and pizza Fridays! (Not like the '10s tech sector start up/buzzfeedalike “We’ll pay you in pizza parties if you stay un-unionized” way though.)
DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 9 hours ago
No! You’re a concept! Fuck you!
Imma save Lila!
bhamlin@lemmy.world 12 hours ago
Sorry Lulu, gotta keep on truckin’
RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 20 hours ago
“Lila” is a name applied to a picture with text written by the author attempting to emotionally manipulate the reader into forming some sort of attachment to the image.
Maybe I’m too cynical, but the internet has soured me to these stories. Like the “trolley test” trying to force the viewer to choose between who dies, I see the man behind the curtain making the reader responsible for the results, and they can get fucked.
bleustenns@lemmy.ml 13 hours ago
Agreed. Also, not that I think the entire internet needs to tiptoe around things, but I remember my un-medicated OCD having a field day with these sorts of images…
RagnvaldG@lemmy.world 23 hours ago
Hey There Dead Lila !
Aqivex@fedinsfw.app 23 hours ago
Lila is safe for as long as I don’t get dementia.
This kind of shit goes right into the weird permanent memory slot for no good reason with me.
Rezurektme@lemmy.world 11 hours ago
This kind of horror shitpost reminds of There Is No Antimemetics Division. Very much recommend if you enjoy having that weird pit in your stomach that fills you with unknown dread.
NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 19 hours ago
We all mist face the reality of our impermanence, Lila, I am not your keeper. It’s ok, it won’t hurt.
