I have a roof over my head over my head but most of all I’m dead inside. So I got that dragon soul achieved too.

Maybe the real dragon soul is the citizens we married along the way.

Ok, I got my dragon soul, but when I afford the house?

It’s kinda funny. My wife and I were living together in a committed relationship for about five years. Then her mom said, in passing, “Aren’t you worried he doesn’t want to buy the cow if he can get the milk for free?” And that just sent her into a tailspin for weeks.

So, about a year later, we got married. And it’s been great. Given the tax advantages and the fact that we were about to buy a house and have a son anyway, it was the logical move. But it’s funny that this was the straw to break the camel’s back, so to speak.

Similar boat. Already had a house, been together for years. Getting married was just for fun and tax benefits. It changed nothing, otherwise.

      Don’t you mean cow’s back?

Sounds kind of like the ideal wedding attitude to me. Light on the symbolism, heavy on the “one last rager to remind ourselves that we’re actually kinda too old to be doing that anymore”.

Meanwhile with me it’s just the No Gods, No Masters NV achievement. Either that or the Clean and Righteous! Achievement from Red Faction Guerrilla.

I never married in Skyrim. Not after probably a thousand of hour gameplay.

Real life no problem. Skyrim never.

I actually love the marriage mechanics in Skyrim. if you’re interested in someone, you put on an amulet of Mara. If they aren’t interested, they ignore it, and there is no social awkwardness. If they are interested in you, they comment on the amulet and ask if you are looking for a partner. You can then say woops, my bad, I didn’t realize that’s what wearing this meant, or yes I am, are you interested, if so, let’s go get married.

I wish real life was that straightforward. No games, no social awkwardness, no guessing.

The whole thing just feels extremely fake. I mean, it’s a video game, everything there is fake, but the marriage in particular is something I can’t suspend my disbelief enough to accept as being real in the context of the game world.

They even try (poorly) to justify it in a loading screen tip. Basically, “people die young in Skyrim; that’s why they’ll agree to marry you after you’ve done them a single minor favor.”

Guys, I just want the Dragon Soul.

    source
    • Gonzako@lemmy.world ⁨10⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

Ok, i’ll trade it for a house and a marriage

      source
      • Leviathan@fedinsfw.app ⁨9⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

Ah, I see your confusion. I’m not saying I have a marriage and a house and want a dragon soul instead, I’m saying I have none but only want the dragon soul.

Not the marrying type. But if there is a dragon soul around, I’m a bit peckish.
