I was in the grocery store last week and the main aisle is wide enough for three shopping carts side by side. Me and my basket were trying to pass some old jerk with his cart and the asshole was walking slowly weaving back and forth across the entire aisle and wouldn’t let anyone pass him. I finally ran past him and he swerved over and tried to collide with me as I was going by and then had the nerve to get mad at me.

I want to live on Aard Skellige. It’s so beautiful, you have everything, ocean, forest, mountains, meadows, cliffs, creeks/waterfalls, all of it.

I have over 1500 hours into The Witcher 3.
Sometimes I think at least 500 of those hours are just me loading into the game after a long week, finding an isolated spot on the map, and just staring into the sunset while the wind howls in my headset.

The fuck is with the sudden influx of “innocent” pro-AI “I’m-just-asking” questions on the fediverse lately? Are you a troll using a bunch of alts, or are the tech bros so fucking desperate to get people’s buy in before the bubble pops that they’re posting fake shit on the fediverse of all places?

I actually love the marriage mechanics in Skyrim. if you’re interested in someone, you put on an amulet of Mara. If they aren’t interested, they ignore it, and there is no social awkwardness. If they are interested in you, they comment on the amulet and ask if you are looking for a partner. You can then say woops, my bad, I didn’t realize that’s what wearing this meant, or yes I am, are you interested, if so, let’s go get married.
I wish real life was that straightforward. No games, no social awkwardness, no guessing.

I just want to come back here and thank you for this simple suggestion. It’s become my current ADHD obsession food. I’ve made it probably 6-7 times since reading your comment, and it’s so good and so filling. I’ll probably obsessively eat it for like another month and then forget it’s a meal that exists for 5 more years until I become obsessed with it again, but such is ADHD life 😂

There have been a couple times when I feel like I can’t take anything more and I’ve thought about tapping out on life and then I think of my cats at home, waiting for me to come home, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting… And I realize that I can in fact take more if I have to.
- Comment on is it spelled "grey" or "gray"? 3 weeks ago:
This is correct, but for some reason in my head I think of gray as warm toned (like with yellow or brown undertones) and grey as cool toned (like with blue or purple undertones).
I have no idea why my brain has decided this is the way.
- Comment on I still can't get over Skyrim. Are there any games that can replace it? 4 weeks ago:
Echoing what others said about the Witcher 3. I have over 1500 hours into both games. Skyrim is great if you like open world games with minimal storyline and just want to explore. Witcher 3 is very story heavy, but you can also just spend hours and hours ignoring the story and exploring the world. There’s quests and random little treasures and easter eggs hidden everywhere. In the Witcher you can climb up a mountain in the middle of nowhere and come across a treasure chest or a skeleton with a book of poetry, or wander through the wilderness far away from any map markers and stumble into a side quest or an interesting place to explore. It’s also just heartbreakingly beautiful.
The story does follow the events of the books and the first two games and is more enjoyable if you have experienced them, but the first time I played I hadn’t yet read the books or played the other games and it still stole my heart and became my favorite game. You might not fully understand the politics or the characters or the choices you’re asked to make for certain supporting side quests, but there’s a good journal where you can read everyone’s backstories and all the information you need for choices regarding the main quest is in the game.

Everyone over here arguing about the price and I’m just remembering how we got Half Life Alyx when they released the Index and hoping they surprise release HL3 with the launch of the Steam Machine and have it compatible with the PC.

I think the way it works now is they take it to court and get the judge to allow them to continue building while the court case works its way through the system and in 6 years when they determine it’s illegal the center has already been built for 5.

What’s your favorite simple and easy vegetarian recipe that’s filling?
I’m not vegetarian, I love me a good cheeseburger every once in a blue moon and always will, but I don’t eat a lot of red meat and I’ve been trying to eat less and less meat in general. I’m not going to pretend eating meat in today’s world is ethical, but neither will there be a noticeable difference if I stop buying my pound or two of chicken and a filet of fish every month. I grew up on a meat and potatoes diet and while I’ve learned a lot since then I’m still not great at cooking filling vegetarian meals, I feel like every time I cook completely without meat I end up absolutely starving in an hour, even if I have protein from other sources.

Idk, I had a rental with a lane departure and it almost made me crash. I was on the highway, turned my turn signal on to indicate I wanted to change lanes, waited a second or two, began turning into the other lane to make the change, and the fucking thing activated and forcefully slammed me back into the lane I had been in, despite the fact that my turn signal was on and no other cars were close to me. I almost lost control and immediately disabled it and left it disabled.

The earlier parts of the game were so beautiful. I played last year and spent so much time walking around, doing all the side quests and clearing the map. Got up to the frozen parts and was like meh, it’s pretty but after the other parts? Finished the main quest and called it a game.

When I was in my early 20s I was near tears in my doctors office telling her that the health issues I was dealing with were ruining my quality of life and that I was so exhausted and in so much pain all the time that all I could do was go to work and come home and go straight to bed and had been like that for months. I was near suicidal and extremely depressed. She said “stop being dramatic, you could have cancer”.

Half Life Alyx made me forget I was playing a game.
Vanilla Skyrim VR is a terrible, buggy mess. Modded it’s really good. Vanilla VR you just have hands and no body, can only equip weapons with a button, and can only have one weapon equipped at a time. With mods you can look down and see your whole body, have all your weapons in holsters that you draw from and switch between as needed (my default load is a short sword on each hip, a dagger on each forearm, and a bow with different enchantments over each shoulder). Mods also let you use the index controllers to their potential, so I can keep my hands open and to draw my weapons I literally just reach and grab my controllers like I’m actually grabbing the weapon. It adds a touch of realism that’s just amazing.
I’m playing the Yggdrasil modpack. It’s not perfect, but it’s really good. If you aren’t familiar with modpacks, the nice thing about them is that you don’t have to worry about tweaking mods and making sure they’re compatible, you just run through the modpack install and you’re good to go. I’ve found it to be pretty stable as far as crashes, I did disable a few mods related to spellcasting that I didn’t like, which you aren’t supposed to do, and that has led to more crashing but I can live with it. Just save often.

Or it’s just so heavily modded that it crashes every 10 minutes 😂

I have an Index and it was 100% worth the price. I used to play a variety of games (Half Life Alyx, Synth Riders and Until You Fall were my favorites) and then I discovered modded Skyrim. A couple years later and my mind is still blown every time I put my headset on and get to wander around Skyrim, look up at the mountains and sunsets, stealth through caves so dark I can barely see a thing, slay dragons using realistic archery where I have to reach back to get an arrow for every shot and actually aim my bow down the arrow, sword fighting involves more than just mashing attack and block, and I can cast spells with hand gestures. I sometimes go months without playing and then wonder why I stopped when I load back into it. I have to set a timer because I lose myself in VR and will play for hours and hours. Sometimes I turn it on and just go somewhere sit down and look at the scenery or watch the NPCs going about their lives.

I work in EMS. I was transporting a patient to the hospital one time for a minor complaint and was making small talk in the back of the ambulance. She mentioned wishing she could go on a vacation and I said something about how that sounded amazing and I hadn’t had a vacation in years. I asked where she would want to go. She started listing off psych hospitals and debating with herself which ones she wanted to go to for her “vacation”. Personally, I was thinking about hiking in the woods or swimming in the ocean, but I guess some people want to be locked in a psych ward.

Drugs, alcohol, hypoglycemia, being postictal from a seizure, mental health emergencies, etc.
All these things can make someone confused and/or violent, although to be clear MOST people in these categories aren’t violent. If you’re confused and all of a sudden there’s strange people around you, fight or flight is going to kick in.
And some people are just assholes.
I work in EMS. I’ve been slapped, kicked, hit, groped, punched, pushed, and had people try to bite me. We have to be on our toes constantly, because you have no idea who is going to decide that today is their day to get violent. I’ve had a sweet little demented grandma who was just chilling suddenly make a fist and go “I just really want to punch you”.

I work in healthcare. I’ve been spending a lot of time studying, listening to podcasts, and improving my healthcare knowledge and trying to be a better provider for my patients. You know, do better for the little bit of community I can affect.
I also go to the gym a lot and I’ve started doing a martial art. Get my physical body in shape and get myself out of my head. It gets me to stop thinking of the world and my own problems for a while.

Am an AEMT (advanced EMT). Work night shift. LOVE that shit. Hate the fact that the rest of the world insists on only existing dayside, so I have to get up during the day for appointments and school. I can’t have a sleep schedule because people don’t see an issue with making me do things at noon. How would they like it if I made them do shit at 2am?
Night shift is great. Life is better when the sun isn’t burning my retinas off and 90% of the population is sound asleep in their beds. I get to be in the earlier stages of my day as the sun is setting and ending it as the sun is rising, and that’s cool as shit. The best feeling ever is driving home as morning rush hour is starting and everyone is grumpy on their way to work and I’m on my way home to my nice comfy bed to sleep in peace.

I had a class where I had to write papers that couldn’t go above a certain word count or it would be an instant fail, it had to contain at least a minimum amount of text directly quoted and cited from my source material, and also couldn’t go above a 20% Turnitin score. I had every paper word-maxxed to the limit and of course Turnitin marked all of my quotations as plagiarized, it marked my entire citations page as plagiarized, and it also inexplicably marked every instance of the word “the” as plagiarized. Nothing else was marked plagiarized and I hit 20% on every paper I submitted. I complained to the instructor and told him the requirements were damn near impossible.
