It blows my mind that he had sex with countless little girls aged about 14 and literally nobody bats an eye

Boomers will complain about rap music being about sex and drugs while nodding along to a Ted Nugent song about getting and giving STDs.
yucandu@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
There’s a guy doing coke in one of Aerosmith’s songs with Steve Tyler’s own daughter in the front seat:

I feel icky saying it but I think a lot has to do with the consenting nature of said 14 year olds. I don’t think riding the tour bus to the next state was really looked at like trafficking, and they weren’t coerced into attending the concert. It doesn’t make it right, but it feels different when a popular known sex icon rock star does it than a creepy, overweight real estate mogul and his super rich friends literally steals girls away from their lives with (sometimes) false promises of being a model.
SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 2 weeks ago
If a rockstar fucks a fourteen year old that’s rape.
raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I don’t get the downvotes, I agree with you. It’s not okay, and yes, it’s legally rape, but it doesn’t have to be traumatizing the victims in the same way as the examples you also mentioned. And that’s not an excuse, but a reasonable answer to the question you responded to.

I really think we need different words for these things. In my own experience, consenting to sexual contact with over 18’s as a teenager was a neutral-to-positive experience for me, while being assaulted by under 18’s was not hella fun. I don’t really like that they’re bundled together as the same thing.
Derpenheim@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
Hey there, you should feel icky, because that is one of the most disgusting takes I’ve ever seen. You are defending raping children. Take a very long look in the mirror and repeat that to yourself.
If you have any kids, you need to surrender them IMMEDIATELY. You are not fit in any way to be a parent. Disgusting.
Return_of_Chippy@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
It boggles my mind the lengths people go to in order to talk about Trump in my posts. Sure Steven Tyler is being discussed as a rapist… But you know, his rape was kinda like cool and alright because he was kinda cool and the girl probably thought he was cool. Plus she’s a wise old 14 which means apparently consent is possible, especially because the guy, the guy is COOL. Meanwhile this completely unrelated guy is not kinda cool so when he raped kids it wasn’t cool. You don’t make a bad point necessarily, just kind of an obvious who gives a fuck point. Man gets shot in the head and dies instantly vs man is slowly tortured to death with knives. Both are murder, saying one isn’t as bad is disrespectful to both victims. Hopefully anyone reading this has the cognitive ability to differentiate where I was being sarcastic.

Same with Led Zeppelin and th red hot chilli peppers. Surely dozens of other bands too. Crazy dark underbelly.

Don’t know Steven Tyler or what she did. but its not such a bad idea to give kids a save place to drink with some restrictions…
they can and will drink one way or the other. just a question under what circumstances.

Steven Tyler is/was the lead singer for the band Aerosmith, which had its peak in the 90s. He was born as, and identifies as, male.
Steven is typically a masculine name…thought Stevie may be a feminine variety, i.e. Stevie Nicks, the singer/songwriter of solo and Fleetwood Mac fame. Coincidentally, they were born exactly two months apart…Steven Tyler on March 26, 1948; and then Stevie Nicks on May 26, 1948.
Also, Stevie Nicks was married to two different members of the band “The Eagles” (at separate times, of course)…Don Henley from 1977-1978, and Joe Walsh from 1983-1986.
She was also married to two different Fleetwood Mac members…Lindsey Buckingham (1972-1976) and Mick Fleetwood (1977-1979).

How was she married to two people at the same time? I’m too lazy to look it up. Don Henley from 1977-1978 and Mick Fleetwood from 1977-1979.
rob_t_firefly@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
“Stevie” is used as a diminutive form of the feminine name “Stephanie.” This is how Stevie Nicks uses it.

Funny enough both bands that i like listening to. not my favourite bands, but in many of my playlists is some Aerosmith and/or Eagles.
Just never really cared about the people: i like the music - that’s all i need to know.

Incidentally kids are drinking less than they used to, at least in North America.
JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
Adults, too.
Especially in rec weed states. But with 1/8 of Americans currently taking a GLP-1 receptor agonist (i.e. Wegovy, Ozempic)…I would expect that to take a big toll, too.
I am one of those 12%…I’ve lose 60lbs the past 3 months. I drink much less and when I do it’s not heavy IPAs and Sours…it’s Happy Dads (iced tea), Seltzers, or a glass of wine. Maybe a cocktail if I’m feeling fancy.
One, a beer is just so damn filling. And my sense of taste no longer likes hoppy or sour. And it takes much less to get me drunk when I’m barely eating in the first place. And the medication itself can cause a bit of indigestion anyway so you kind of want to moderate more to begin with.

This picture is the intersection of the two groups of people you normally see wearing leopard print clothes.

I’m pretty sure it’s a onesie with cooter snaps.

The person I most frequently see wearing leopard print is my 6yo.

You kids are gonna drink anyway, so do it here in the basement, where you’re safe. And stay out of mine, unnderstan’?

Give him a perm did he looks exactly the way my friend’s mom looked in the 90s 😭 And she did give us alcohol under 21, lmao. It worked because she gave us the nastiest, cheapest premixed mudslide possible and it repelled us from alcohol for a few more years.

steven tyler proves that once you are good enough, you can do what you want. in a “who cares what they say, that’s steven fucking tyler” kind of way. it’s not necessarily entirely great, but as far as dressing how you want, hell yeah.
i mean, he got away with bringing liv tyler (i’m sorry, liv fucking tyler, she’s amazing too) into this world. the whole story around that is scary as fuck. she’s great, but like, yikes.
Jax@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
the whole story around that is scary as fuck.
I think you need to define scary here, the story is an example of good parenting from the mother.
StarryPhoenix97@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
That mom always gets a little too handsy with one of the boys too.

@Return_of_Chippy At this point in Steven's life, he probably wouldn't care who's drinking, so long as they didn't drive.

Ok, but what’s that got to do with the above picture of Amy Winehouse?
shittydwarf@piefed.ca 2 weeks ago
Under no circumstance should you let Steven Tyler drive any of your teenage friends home
ivanafterall@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I mean… except on the off chance the teen’s parents give their permission. But I’m just being a dick, that would obviously never happen.
Broadfern@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Yeah, not like those parents would sign away custody so Mr. Tyler could take that teenager all over the country. That’s silly!
