How many pizzas in a school bus?
Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 1 day ago
About 8 pizzas the size of small/large boulder.
MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 1 day ago
Metric you filthy barbarian!
JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Can someome PLEASE get a banana down there?
A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 12 hours ago
This here.
Yesterday I read a book with lots of drawn (!) illustrations of the largest insects to a 5yo. It doesn’t work.
DupaCycki@lemmy.world 8 hours ago
Not possible. Bananas are rich in potassium and potassium explodes upon contact with water.

This is perfect for the Anything but Metric comm!

With such statsian measurements, its hard to tell for the rest of us; are the pizzas big for the US or for normal people?
yakko@feddit.uk 8 hours ago
If you order the largest size pizza in America and it fits through the door horizontally, you’re legally permitted to eat the delivery driver.
Strawberry@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 hours ago
Big
neukenindekeuken@sh.itjust.works 22 hours ago
Is this because Americans are so fucking stupid they can only guess the size of things relative to the size of other things?
ashenblood@sh.itjust.works 3 hours ago
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it true that Europeans still haven’t figured out how to land on the Moon? Aside from the US and USSR doing it 50+ years ago, China, Japan, and India have also managed to achieve it by now. Hell, even Singapore and Pakistan are gonna get there before you.
It’s because hydrogen is superior to electric batteries in terms of ease of storage, range, filling up, and probably even energy use.
Confidently incorrect. Love to see it. If only you could ascertain the size of your own head relative to the size of your brain.
moopet@sh.itjust.works 6 hours ago
Like, say, this here stick. We’ll call it a “metre”.
LodeMike@lemmy.today 8 hours ago
Huh? Whar do you use to measure the size of things?
janewaydidnothingwrong@lemmy.world 21 hours ago
Hey! That’s not nice. It’s true, but it’s not nice.

What’s going on in the left photo? Does the squid have bioluminescent danglers at the front?
jaybone@lemmy.zip 1 day ago
Maybe it’s like my cat when I catch her on my security cams in night life. Fuckin lasers.
MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 1 day ago
Lasers, how do they work?!

Goddammit, Donut
brianpeiris@lemmy.ca 21 hours ago
Yeah, it’s wild they do actually have large “photophores” at the ends of its arms. More info here:
livescience.com/…/elusive-octopus-squid-with-worl…
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taningia_danae
Taningia danae, the Dana octopus squid, is a species of squid in the family Octopoteuthidae, the octopus squids. It is one of the largest known squid species, and it has one of the largest photophores (light organs) known in any organism.

Holy crap, that’s terrifying and so cool! Thanks for the info!

But does the pizza have pineapples on it?
ekZepp@lemmy.world 1 day ago
A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 12 hours ago
Thank You!
This being the NY Post, I wasn’t sure about factuality. There’s nothing in the pictures that would indicate its size.
sibannac@lemmy.world 22 hours ago
Its not metric but thats amore.
mortemtyrannis@lemmy.ml 9 hours ago
No that’s a squid, not an eel.
AoxoMoxoA@lemmy.world 22 hours ago
What used to be considered a large pizza is now sold as extra large and it really isn’t as big as an old large pizza its like what a medium was . So this thing has a big ass body and beedie little eyes
AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 1 day ago
They’ve been washing up on shore for over a century. What do you mean ‘evidence discovered’?
xzinik@feddit.cl 21 hours ago
they got a bus next to one and put pizzas over its eyes
helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world 22 hours ago
New pizza topping, Squid Eye!
You mean squid eyes?
No, squid eye.
Wakmrow@hexbear.net 1 day ago

P1k1e@lemmy.world 1 day ago
This is the most terrifying thing I’ve ever studied furiously
Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Anything but metric.
Soulg@ani.social 1 day ago
Yeah like two extremely relatable and immediately identifiable sizes that are much more visceral than saying ~13.3m and ~38cm
Obi@sopuli.xyz 10 hours ago
Well I’m glad you posted the actual measurements because now I actually know how big it is, so thank you for that.
MidsizedSedan@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Both school busses and pizzas change in size around the world. Metres do not
Thorry@feddit.org 1 day ago
I hate to break it to you, but when someone states anything in metric, I immediately have a feel for how large that is. That’s because we usually state everything in metric, so we don’t need to refer to random stuff and just learn the sizes of everything.
ranzispa@mander.xyz 1 day ago
What is large pizza? The only size of pizza I know is pizza. How many seats does the school bus have? That can easily change by 15 meters.
JennyLaFae@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 hours ago
Be really easy to say something like “squid the size of a 15 meter bus with eyes the size of a 38cm pizza”
Now I’m wondering how the search trends look when these stories hit. Does google have a spike of people asking how big a school bus is and/or for average size of large pizza? Is it something they’re doing on purpose to gather more data on us?
funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 1 day ago
bigger than a school bus describes a Bodega, the eiffel tower, Mexico, Jupiter and the entirety of the universe.
HenriVolney@sh.itjust.works 21 hours ago
I am the first to shit on the imperialsystelm. I have to admit I agree with you on that one
