I leave the thread for a day or so to read a book I got obsessed with (Drift by C J Turner) and next thing people are talking in German about their pets and Toneâs assaulted in the supermarket! Jesus Christ on a bicycle!

Iâm now picturing Christ on a tricycle and itâs cracking me up, thank you!
Duenan@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Iâm picturing him with arms out like wings and just peddling forwards.

My head still hurts this morning, it feels like a bad headache. Trying to do some work but my motivation is pretty low. Still wondering why me? Of all the people gawking at this guy going nuts, I was the one he singled out.
I called the police last night to ask why I hadnât been contacted yet, a sergeant got in contact with me and apologised that the officers at the scene didnât even ask for my details when I told them what happened. The guy had only been charged with property destruction offences before I called, what happened to me wasnât even recorded. Iâm giving a statement on Friday.
StudChud@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Thatâs fucked up, that the officers didnât even note it down!
Good fucking lord, and they wonder why people donât want to join VicPol and say ACAB instead đ¤Śââď¸
Take it easy, and look after yourself! Took that pumpkin to the noggin like a champ o7
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
What a joke right?
Yep thatâs fucked.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Thatâs a horrible thing youâve been through! Disappointing of the cops to say the least. You were assaulted in a public place in front of how many witnesses? They shouldâve been onto it straight away.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I have no idea. Could be because you turned away or the movement attracted notice, or you were just directly in sight of the single brain cell.
Thatâs concerning. Fingers crossed that itâs all okay đ¤

I went to make a cup of tea and my favourite mug just went âcrackâ right through when I poured the boiling water in. And then the water was coming out the bottom somewhere.
Itâs probably 20 years old. Very sad. I have a million mugs (I think they breed in the cupboard) but only a handful of âgoodâ ones which are my go-tos for tea.
Catfish@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Once upon a time the Advanced students got to keep a mug in the teachers lounge because class was out of usual hours. Mine vanished. After exams were over a dickhead I once had a crush on admitted to breaking it months ago. DudeâŚ
melbaboutown@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Mine got stolen
Duenan@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Doh, sorry to hear out your mug.
Maybe it was too cold and the water was too hot, had that happen to an old bowl once.
StudChud@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
The loss of a favourite mug is a sad day indeed. RIP
melbaboutown@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
No :( Iâve had that happen to a lovely mug (hairline crack) and itâs now serving as a pen holder
SituationCake@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Condolences.

just_kitten@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Sheâs such a sweet and beautiful kitty even if she is thoroughly silly sometimes. I love her so much. Her whiskers match her medium-length glossy fur!
Iâm kind of stuck here now though đ Become just a piece of purrnitureâŚ

Night night
Think I need an extra blanket tonight.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Mineâs definitely staying on too - predicted to be minus 2 here.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I got an extra day working from home!!! So thatâs 2 days in office.
Yeeha.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I think I figured out why Iâm not enjoying my new role.
The people are nerds, but not in a good way. Theyâre the nerds that were teacher pleasing brown-nosers who would throw anyone and everyone under a bus to get an inch ahead.
Thereâs also people who are very quick to make their problems our problems. Sound like communism to me đ
Iâve also noticed that I can ignore emails and people eventually leave me along.
So thatâs good.
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Fixed or temporary? Doesnât sound very positive. Maybe their previous supervisors expected more brown nosing? Maybe thatâs why theyâre partly a dumping ground for others problems.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Iâm on fixed term, everyone seems to be full time ongoing.
My immediate boss is okay, but the overall culture seems to be kind shit.
They can suck up all they want. My works speaks for me and so far Iâm doing well.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
The word I use for that brand of nerd is Flog. And Iâve worked with the Floggiest Flog of all the Flogs several times over.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Good term. Some are definitely flogs. The rest are just lame. Not malicious or anything, just lame.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Does anyone here try to âone upâ their partner? So, I made spag bol (lots of servings) for the man with garlic bread. Heâs buying me fresh oysters and caviar. I bought him grapes. I think Iâve lost this one.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I have to try hard not to, because itâll get out of hand very quickly. But hell yes to fresh oysters and caviar!
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
It doesnât have to be gifts only. Eg. âI mowed your lawn for youâ. âWell I washed your socks for youâ. Then you laugh đ
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I mowed the lawn AND bought him a really nice umbrella, so Iâm ahead atm
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Youâve lobbed it. 30/0 đž
MeanElevator@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
We do with surprise gifts. My wife a cool set of PJs for me recently and got them. I reciprocated with a nicer set for her. Pretty much told her no more sleepwear for the time being. At risk of getting pricey and silky
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
You gotta do nice things for each other otherwise theyâre just a room mate.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Miraculously the gout pain is in remission. Slightly upping the meds dose really worked!!!
Donât tell my GP!!
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Get the GP to check your wee re: gout next time you give them some.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago

Today I got no work done. Spent ages trying to find somewhere to sit and there was not really any spaces in any of the libraries around with unoccupied plugs. Then I was supposed to meet with a friend at 11 and they arrived at 12:30. I couldâve found somewhere to sit and asked them to join me, but I just wanted to go home at that point. Came down with a massive headache.
At least I got 20,000 steps in. Now I shall keep warm and attempt the work I wanted to do. Thereâs always tomorrow after all.
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
11 / 12:30 is pretty rough. No call or text?
Seagoon_@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
itâs appalling đ
Duenan@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Sounds like the same friend who keeps arriving late.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Got a message saying theyâd be running late, but didnât get anymore updates until they got there, despite me asking.
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Finished stressful work day. Having beer in beer garden while I wait for my friend to finish work. Then we go try a new Sichuan restaurant (kind of our hobby eating at new restaurants, typically Chinese?.
SituationCake@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Reviews of restaurants are very welcome here!
DolphinLundgrin@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Also beer gardens
just_kitten@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Thanks everyone for the encouragement today!

Iâm afraid to say I only read two papers and wrote down about two lines of notes but the upshot is my brain seemed to be doing some reorganising/processing and I didnât leave uni feeling sick and worthless like all the other times I didnât get stuff done. Thatâs helpful because the avoidance is definitely coming from an emotional place⌠⌠And I managed to have a really good psych session today which, while intense, helped me get through the âeverything feels like shitâ, âADHD executive function hacks arenât helpingâ part and through to reframing things with a trauma lens (I had an academically hardcore schooling experience that ended badly and this has brought up a lot more of those subsumed thought patterns than I thought). Like physically I feel better; I feel heard and things make sense and maybe I can try something different to get through all this. Rather than go âI have no executive function to walk into a crowd of people who will torture me and then push me off a cliff. Maybe if I break it down into steps it will helpâ and wonder why itâs not working⌠One thing Iâve decided to allow myself until I finish this is splurging on whatever I want with food. If eating lunch out daily, or getting all the smoked salmon, or getting TWO pizzas helps fill the tank, I have my full permission.
Anyway Iâm going to go buy some smoked salmon now and see what goodies are available at the Nice Woolies while Iâm here.

Decided to book some nights down near the peninsula for the long weekend. There is a dinosaur park and childrenâs farms that should keep the boys busy.
Itâs meant to be cold and wet, so no big adventures, but its a part of Melbourne so far away we wouldnât bother going down there otherwise because it wouldnât be worth the time
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Sometimes we play the unsolved case files games in which the players are given a murder case and a series of questions to answer. The answers for each step are in sealed envelopes and you cannot proceed without correctly identifying each clue. A file folder on each suspect is included, along with maps and newspaper clippings. We might spend weeks on it and get nowhere.
It can be frustrating, however, they are enlightening to the fact that in order to succeed, a patient and detail oriented mindset can win the day.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Anyone elseâs cat going nuts or is it just me?
Catfish@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Catastrophic data loss isnât a great phrase to leave a meeting with. Might happen unless the National level gets Jimmy from Admin off the tech support inbox.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I think maybe it wasnât such a great idea to go to bed at 9pm. Was trying to get some extra sleep but so far itâs only extra wake ups.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I need to stop shopping and start sorting.
Thereâs always so much to buy setting up a new place though. Iâve got a stand to put my toaster oven/air fryer on, a bathroom cabinet so Iâve got somewhere to put the toilet paper, another storage rack for the laundry, a dustpan and brush (mine did not survive the move), new dog poo scoop (who really wants to move a used one?!) and a fence to go outside to create a pet barrier to where the side gate is (which has a gap Miss Meow might manage to squeeze under) and create a little yard for the bins.
Sorting plans for today are the bedroom/wardrobe, and a bit more in the kitchen. I made a good start on the pantry yesterday, got some preliminary sorting of the ensuite cabinet, and set up an area in the garage for putting shoes on/off and hanging outdoor coats etc. Iâve got a couple more floor mats to bring up to add to the area to minimise dust that gets tracked in and will see if I can find some carpet offcuts and things to cover a bit more - if I can get the area around the door to the house and the pathway across to the other external door covered it would be ideal.

There are so many holes in Erinâs story that I canât even. The kids said that they werenât at the lunch because there âadult thingsâ to discuss, yet Erin is saying the kids werenât interested? Yet she hosted the lunch because the kids enjoyed the last one they had with their grandparents? Tasted the blend, thought it was bland, added dried mushrooms âNow I think that there was a possibility that there were foraged ones in there as well,â but doesnât taste it again afterwards to double check?!
I NEED POPCORN.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I used to think I was bad at graphic design and creative work, but now I think the problem is Adobe software. After being able to punch things out in GIMP, Inkscape, and Davinci Resolve, I tried to do some basic work in Premiere Pro at work and hit the same walls I did in Photoshop.
Maybe the problem isnât me, itâs that the software is laid out like shit. Plus, the workflow for every adobe product is different, whereas there is at least some consistency between entirely separate FOSS equivalents.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
painting done, a ton of cleaning done
now off the to the city to get some gumboots for walking down the beach on winter days

Melbcatâs test results are good so Iâm not sure why sheâs still sooky and eating like a horse? Sheâs definitely off about something.
Her kidneys are a little bit worse though đ Makes sense. During the uti Iâve been prioritising hydrating wet food consumption, so have been leaving out the phosphate binder that puts her off it. Maybe Iâll start trying to reintroduce it.
Iâm glad sheâs eating well though. Sheâs cuddled up with me and very cute.

I got a text from YL saying sheâs going to hairdresser after school because sheâs not happy with her fringe she cut herself. Weâve all been there. Unfortunately hairdressers canât grow hair back.
