They’re always so different I love them :)
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Could I ask what is roughly the process of getting these cool shots?
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Ooh sorry missed that comment.
Basically just bringing the DSLR into the ocean right at sunset, getting down low and hope you get a good one and not drop the camera lol. We run it through lightroom for a bit of noise reduction but the great thing is you don’t really need to change much as the sunset does it for you.

I thought they were synths :(
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 10 months ago
One day. They’ll probably all be behringers, but still!

Ready to spring into action if something happens. Because, you know, something might happen!
Eagle@aussie.zone 10 months ago
It’s sooo tough for them. Excuse the unmade bed, the reason I can’t make it is busy lounging around.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I have the exact problem! I get some pretty annoyed meows if I try to move Gibson in any way shape or form lol

Breakfast today, cold noodles with peanut sesame sauce and beef. Perfect for the heat today:
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I think that looks great and delicious
I just got a lecture on how that type is meal is unhealthy
my suggestion to serve themselves less carbs if they don’t want so much carbs did not go down well , ( everyone in this house serves themselves )
apparently I should cook meals where a person should be able to serve themselves as much as they want
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Maybe it’s time for them to do the cooking/marketing/meal planning. To a strict budget of course. This has an AMAZING effect on the level of food critiques received.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I have many angry things to say in response to this, so I’ll just send you some hugs.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I just got a lecture on how that type is meal is unhealthy
Ooooo. They would starve or cook their own.
Duenan@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Maybe I’m doing noodles for dinner tonight.

Bit concerned for Queensland with the coming cyclone. Sounds like it might be very destructive. Hope everyone can stay safe.
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Yep. Most of my team at work is based in Brisbane and it’s all becoming a bit real with the disaster preparedness stuff and office closures etc
just_kitten@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Been thinking a lot about friends and family there. It’s looking very serious and worse than the usual floods and ex cyclones/tropical lows they get there. They haven’t had a real cyclone hit them bang on since what, 1974? They’re not as used to this as FNQ or the Pacific islands but I hope there won’t be any deaths at least.
SituationCake@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Huge population growth since then, lots more people at risk of being affected now.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Definitely a worry.
They have hardly recovered from the last ones. ☹️
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Just got a call from a wrong number.
“Steve just callin’ 'bout your 400 head of cattle”.
Me: “You might have the wrong number, but good luck with the cattle”.
Him “oh, righto thanks mate”.
Probably the shortest most aussie convo I’ve had in a while.

Am now in possession of a jungle bathroom.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
steamy?

Can be arranged. I’ve stuck leaf decals everywhere.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Something I’ve been stressing about for at least a year came into the open at work today and everyone just sorta went 🤷♀️
Not sure if that’s good or not, but at least the stress is off my plate.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
That’s a good thing, right?
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Yeah, it is, I think I’m overthinking it!
dumblederp@aussie.zone 10 months ago
So lent-ish, I’m giving up browsing reddit for the rest of the month. There’s plenty of more useful things I could do with my spare time than keep up to date with the high quality doom scrolling that’s available these days. If I need to do some research it’s fine but no wandering about in the endless void of it.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Yea with you there.
I don’t mind climate doom scrolling on the collapse sub but the last few weeks over there have been, err… yeah too much.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 10 months ago
You know what, I’m going to join you. Gonna be hard watching hockey without the shit talking on the hockey sub…maybe I’ll try to limit myself to that one. Usually politics free and decent banter.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Lent-ish! I like it!
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 10 months ago
My buddy didn’t like it too much when I tried to tell him he only lent-ish me $50

What did you post on Sunday? I missed it and couldn’t find it.

Also thanks to @PeelerSheila as well! Very excited to jump into them!

I finally bit the bullet and ordered some supplies to reupholster my couch & armchairs. I’ve been dithering for years over whether I want to spend the money doing that or just buy a new one. I have gotten to the stage of putting everything into the cart and seeing the total a few times, decided it was too much and started looking at new couches instead. Then I decide I quite like my couch and don’t really want the cheap junk I could buy for that price and circle back around to reupholstering again.
So now I have $840 worth of foam, webbing etc. ordered (I already have fabric) and fingers crossed I don’t mess it up. Miss Meow should be happy with my decision anyway, as the set has an open wood frame which makes the space underneath a good napping spot.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Whilst I’d prefer to stay inside in air conditioned comfort I am going to take a load of stuff down to the op shop. Hopefully I can fit everything in one trip.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 10 months ago
So apparently my iron is low so I need to get on the supplements and also start eating a bit more medicinal red meat. I’m not a vegetarian any more but left to my own devices i can go a long time without (much) meat. So I have some stewing steak defrosting but I can’t decide between a chilli con carne or an old fashioned stew (both instant pot so it doesn’t heat up the place too much)…leaning towards the chilli…
Anyone got any good recipes?
SituationCake@aussie.zone 10 months ago
After about 15 years of service, my washing machine died last week. I am now the owner of a brand new washer! Old machine was a top loader and new one is a front loader, so there may be some trial and error to figure out my preferred wash cycles. Mount Washmore here I come. Good weather for drying too.

Right so the solution to my insomnia it seems, is to be so fucking wrecked from the gym, that I pass out.
This is the longest stretch of sleep I’ve had in a really long time.
I’ll try again tomorrow night and see what happens.

A moment of appreciation for authentic, good quality Japanese rice (not the supermarket stuff). It’s spenny but worth every cent getting the good shit from Hinoki… Can eat it just plain with a bit of shichimi and salt. Glistening, toothsome, and somehow holding its own flavour.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Wow, Westgate extra fucked today by the looks of it.
Eagle@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I just attempted pandamart. Looked at the people lined up to get in and kept driving.

I’ve been reading “How to Make Yourself Miserable, a Vital Training Manual” and I am pleased to report I do hardly anything in that book.
As a positive self affirming confidence boosting exercise I’m going to tick all the things listed I don’t do. Which is like 95%. 🙂 I can work on the others.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Managed to do a big clean in just 2 hours - wiping everything including the windowsills, scrubbing the bathtub, sinks and stove, moving empty heavy pots temporarily out of common area, massive vacuum and mop… As usual, nothing like last minute panic to finally get shit done that really didn’t need to take that long after all…
Good thing is the REA actually seemed decent enough and not too anal about details, most importantly it seems like the short lease period was only because it was a lease break situation and not because they want to sell - so I can be confident of rolling onto a monthly situation til the end of my studies. No need to rush around looking for a friend to crash with for the last 1-2 months, but I can also bugger off afterwards fairly easily afterwards.
Now to just get to the end of this frigging degree…

It looks like technology companies have just given up on smart home stuff. There are no more smart clocks, smart displays, not even speakers side from Sonos. Everyone got sick of using these things and the world has moved on.
This means I can chuck out my smart clock with the broken cable. I can actually get rid of it completely! It’s the cable that’s broken, not the unit, and it’s such a weird voltage and connector it’s not worth trying to replace.
It’s a bit of a shame to contribute to more ewaste. I might drop it off at one of the ewaste points at a library or office works. But it’s nice to know I can let go of something. No holding onto a cable ‘just in case’. No need to try get an otherwise perfectly fine unit to work, because I didn’t use it anyway. I can actually throw this thing out, and there’s no equivalent on the market to replace it with.

Client had a major incident. Infra manager called me. We have to work through it till it’s solved.
Looks like a late start for this cowboy.

So if the Reject Shop was like 10 times bigger; that’s what Panda Mart is?
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Anyone have a good substitute for Somersby ciders? Boyo has decided he doesn’t want to drink them any more because reasons unrelated to taste, but wants something that tastes similar. He’s tried Three Oak (okay) and Monteith (not a fan).
Dalek_Thal@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Anyone know exactly what’s happening on the Hurstbridge/Mernda line? After the day I’ve had (boss informed us we’re going back to office full-time for reasons of “productivity”), last thing I need is to spend ten bucks for a borked train line
