Youâre dead so you donât notice the rust?
hrmm Iâm gonna let someone else try that first.
it is technically correct
Gibsonâs ancestor were peak predators of the saharas. They can handle a little heat donât worry
I think i need to remind her lol
My ginger fluff is melting but in front of the air con, but the black one is outside (in the run) basking in the hot sun, comes inside to cool off then goes back out. Black cats are weird.
Mine seems to hate being in front of fans. Heâll avoid the air flow of one. Weird little guy.
Ted is enjoying this warm weather by snoozing on the terrace. I am happy he feels comfy and safe enough to snooze outside. đ
He looks happy. Heâs probably mad about the diet but I canât imagine how much his life has improved and how much better he probably feels
So fluffy đ„°
Christmas day report 2.
That cousin who totes disrespected me last week. đ
Started talking about all of us going on holiday with him to Ireland.
This is after he said the bus tour operator on his last holiday was boring and would point out the most boring things, like ancient ruins of monasteries
and I said Iâd be âStop the bus!â and would be excited to see the ruins of the places where monks worked to save western civilisation after the fall of Rome.
To him the tour would be seeing places where some of his ancestors ( the men ) came from . I truly would not have enough eyes to roll.
Talking with him yesterday was a good exercise on how a very average sexist copes with talking to a woman who is not cowed by him and is way smarter and knows stuff better ( not perfect, just better ) The copium was spread thick.
âThatâs just your opinion.â changes subject starts to get passive aggressive appeals to other people
That sounds like the conversation was NEVER about Ireland, monasteries, tour operators or ancestors. It was about dominating the conversation. And you didnât roll over and let him. Go you!
This is true.
Christmas day report.
Some of you may remember me writing about my BIL who is a hoarder and for whom we spent a lot of energy and time cleaning up their house and yard. Weeks of horrible disgusting dirty work.
He does not have much furniture, nearly all that he has he inherited from his dad, just like he inherited the house. And he does need to replace his kitchen and bathroom .
So I organised a nice big gift card from ikea to him as a present. Just to get him looking at the website or in the actual store as well as getting something that could make his life better.
He opened the present. He was furious.
It seems to me he was counting on cash so that in our usual cash gift exchange he would come out even. Take into account he doesnât make any meaningful contribution to xmas dinners or any fam celebration, he usually comes out ahead.
I had no idea he was that much of an unredeemed Scrooge.
just like he inherited the house
ooh.
Similar thing happened to mum. Boys got the farm (big farm) she got nothing. Her mum made sure her daughter got her little place in WA and completely wrote her sons out of the will. Still tense after all these decades. Different times sure but still rough.
Anyway tell your BIL that heâs being silly and should be grateful.
should be grateful.
that would never occur to him
Well he just got uninvited next year then didnât he.
Characters like this in my so-called family are the reason why I donât talk to half of them anymore. They are just either takers, enablers or ignorant. I washed my hands of them and now only connect with the people who are worth it, and Iâm much happier. Christmases are sooo much better now!
Does he have a pokies habit?
No.
What would he have wanted that cash for? Thatâs so silly!
he likes money in his bank account
Tech support for pâs on boxing day :(
The speed at which that generation will throw up their hands and say itâs all too hard never ceases to amaze me.
I had it at the inlaws yesterday, only he changed his Admin password from what I set it to and doesnât know what it is. I didnât have a USB on me that can boot to a live Linux image and hack that.
So Iâll need to go back in a day or two. đ
Everyone remember to layer up, put the heater on, and have plenty of hot drinks at hand. Weâll get through this one
No. Itâs the real aussie Christmas today. You have permission to sink beer and watch the cricket in the nude.
Ideally in a kiddie pool
instructions unclear. The hot drinks are layered up, the hand is on the heater.
Done and done.
Happy Boxing Day everyone!!
A general reminder to you all: Do not set things on fire today.
I donât want to set the world on fii^iiirreee^
I just want to start
A flame in your heart
Thatâs still a fire! Coppers are on their way to arrest you
Fingers crossed everybody heeds that and you have a nice peaceful day.
Work is over for the day & I finally have two days to myself, yay! Time to start catching up on all the cleaning and gardening I need to doâŠ
Christmas is nice, but it is a bit hard to fit everything in when you donât have any time off and I have fallen a bit behind on a few of those not completely vital chores.
The wind is really picking up out there.
I just got out of the pool cause the wind was genuinely making it not just cool, but actually cold
Itâs gross out there and the sun is starting to poke through too.
I had the windows open driving home, it was like a hair dryer was going off in my car.
Hahaha. A free blow dry.
Anyone interested in doing the Hobart to Hobart with me next year? We just float around on a boat in Hobart and sink some piss. If asked we claim we finished really early.
Sure. Are you supplying the boat coz I donât have that kinda dough, Mr Moneybags?
âThis boat? Stolen?! Nah mate we just found it out hereâ
Sounds safer than Hobart Sydney âŠlol
Having experienced a really terrible harbour cruise in Hobart many years ago I am very reluctant to step foot on a boat there again. Actually, Iâve had a terrible cruise experience on Sydney Harbour too. I think Iâll stay on dry land.
Konstas has not disappointed. This is hilarious đ
What a gun. I wish I had some of that 19 year old confidence and invincibility (and skill)
So good.
Iâve had 3 days of eating very too many desserts. No regrets.
Gee I hope the fires donât actually reach Ararat and Stawell, that would be awful.
Itâs supposedly a warm night out here where I am but compared to last night in the hotbox Iâm positively loving it. Lovely balmy breeze. Just nothing but the sound of insects chirping and the wind through the trees, no humans anywhere near, no lights, no electricity (though maybe annoyingly for trying to break bad habits, some phone receptionâŠ)
Ended up leaving Melbourne at 10am (after doubling back realising Iâd left my wallet and hat at home). Made pretty decent time just pedal to the metal to Albury now another longer break just past Yass. Just 1.5 hrs more after this. Caught up with the fire news and it looks farked. So many people love Halls Gap though I have every confidence it will come back even if it gets hit really hard this time
Last night I had a really nice dream. In it I was in a happy and loving relationship with someone who cared about me. It didnât even last that long, but in the dream I felt like it had been longer.
Iâve been thinking about it all day. She didnât even have a face, I just remember hugging her and thinking about how comfortable I was.
One of those not-nightmares that feels like one in retrospect
Ok now for a positive comment. Visited the Nonnaâs house and she had a guitar amp in her garage that mustâve belonged to one of my cousins back in the day. It was very dusty! She insisted I take it, so now I have an amp with overdrive yay!
Best thing about today: hot cross buns go on sale
Iâm going to regret just finishing off a coffee.
I plan on watching the test cricket and doing the washing to take advantage of the weather.
Lazy day all round and I hope the cricket is good.
I need to brag - the trip to the shops ended up being absolutely worth it: I scored a puffer jacket for a grand total of $6.40. Now Iâm extra ready for Japan and can put the rest of the money I thought Iâd need to spend on a jacket towards Mofusand goodies!
Braved the shops to get groceries for dinner. Apart from the heat, itâs not that busy actually. Plenty of parking and roads werenât mad.
Very surprised.
Itâs a sleepy day today.
Driving home yesterday evening the sun was so red. Would be cool if it wasnât because of smoke.
I think todayâs gonna be a calm day for me. Groceries are due to be delivered between 3-5, and temps are expected to peak by 4 (which is good because I forgot to order ice cream). I can have a sleep in and then I reckon Iâll get up and go for a dip in the pool
Todayâs gonna be a rough one for the firies, though, thatâs for sure. The Grampians fire is currently at 49k Ha according to VicEmergency. Probably more because thereâs 2 separate incidents showing and one doesnât have the Ha count. 40s throughout much of Vic today
Thereâs also a damaging winds warning for most of the state. 90+km/h, 110km/h gusts in some areas from after sunrise. Thatâll fuck everything up if thereâs a few embers. Wouldnât surprise me if thereâs a few bushfires around the more grassy parts of melbs today too
The winds! THE WINDS!!
This year Iâve ended up with some chocolates that I really like, some of them a little different from usual like orange slices coated in dark chocolate and peanuts coated in dark chocolate and a lot of Lindor chocolate.
I think Iâm almost relieved this year not to get a Cadbury favourites box.
I think itâs the least favourite of any chocolate boxes i like to get because I hate whatâs in them.
Oh and also got a box of shortbread biscuits, oohh theyâre so good.
All the leftovers, and everybody wants Chinese lmao.
Given how bad the wind looked on the forecast, I can happily say Iâve ridden in worse.
Down at my mates for Chrissie leftovers and their salads are the bomb. Surprised I was able to have a full late lunch given how my gut felt this morning.
Now time for some online shopping, methinks.
Hope everyone is having a nice Boxing Day!
Hmm, do I need more pavlova?
Yes. Yes I do.
