Getting into and tangled within the clothes-horse is such a cat thing to do. What an absolute cutie 😍
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 year ago
He destroyed several thinking he could do the same as an adult. Physics says NO.
Eagle@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Love his tail markings!
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I thought it looked like it was intended for another cat like he was a mixed up Lego set 😻
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Aww kitty also caught a mouse.
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Would drown his stuffed ones in water bowl, thankfully not the tech sort.
Eagle@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Was he ever really going to do housework?
Eagle@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I could use him as a duster if he’d stop trying to mangle the tablecloth.
Aradina@lemmy.ml 1 year ago
Mine pisses on any green bags he gets access to.
Eagle@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Oh no!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
are upvotes broken?
mysticgreg@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Works for me (I just upvoted this fine), but as @tone212_ said I did notice that the counter has moved (Firefox on desktop)
tone212_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
They’ve been moved on my view (using Safari browser). Now next to post timestamp.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I see it now. ( embarrassed look )
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Oh I HATE that. Looks terrible!
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Upvotes look ok but I can’t sort by anything except Hot. iPhone browser no app.
Zagorath@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Check your account settings are the way you want them to be. The latest update seems to have either added new settings with strange defaults, or borked up your existing settings.

Toddler woke up screaming, woke the cat. While im settling the toddler cats giving me this look of death. I said sorry. He replied by going to claw the shit out of the armchair
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Kitty redirected well and did not claw the shit out of the direct source of annoyance. Good kitty.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Kitty is likely ambivalent just hide car keys, title deeds… shoes… probably the knife block you’ll be okay.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I’m sorry man but that’s a hilarious scene lol
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I think my luck is starting to turn. But we’ll see. Goodnight everyone ❤️
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 year ago
One last old kitty photo:
She (Sheba) was always so devved when it was silverside was not her thing. She would just stand there and silently protest.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
She’s so beautiful!
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
You have quite the history with gorgeous supermodel cats :)
bull@aussie.zone 1 year ago
ah crap… I think I’ve picked myself up a sick while I was near other humans. That’ll teach me to leave the apartment.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 1 year ago
The sick is everywhere out there right now. Stay warm
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Trust me, watch this. It’s only 30 seconds or so:
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I know they have a raucous call, that they are stealing bastards , that they have become a pest but I think they are a beautiful bird, the silver wings and how do they keep their feathers so white living in the sooty city?
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Bahahah
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 year ago
seize him 😂
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 1 year ago

The one on the plane with the ferret sitting between two hedgehogs is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life lol

Yay I made it. Good night.

Good Night. 😽

Moved as many of the plants as I physically could, and the little plant supplies cupboard that is a bitch to carry. Clothes are 90% dry and towels 50% dry and indoors now. The carport is still a disgusting mess and I’ll leave that for another weekend when I’ll also finally get around to installing my dashcam.
Now I need to:
- vacuum the house a bit from tramping in and out with plants
- get onions and potatoes and tuna from colesworth as I wasn’t organised enough to do so from an independent grocer before today
- bulk up remaining vegan “ragu” with lentils
- make a lil pot pie with said leftovers and potato
- make risoni pasta with green peas and Brussels sprouts and tuna
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 year ago
ooh legit. Solid ziplock work!
I’d say do a pH hoping for somewhere around 4.
Looks great :)
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Can’t get hold of a pH test today but ordered some online to arrive by Friday. Meanwhile I decided to just blitz and decant and refrigerate. Behold!!
Been tasting a bit more and holy cow it does taste good for just pure chillo + salt, no garlic etc. No off flavours. I used all the brine and it still has a moderately thick yet pourable consistency.
Am loving the absolute FRUITINESS that’s really shone through, normally these are too spicy to feel the fruitiness but fermenting has been perfect for these dudes!! What a new way to enjoy the bounty of chillies. Thank you for planting the seed in me and encouraging me to finally get off my arse and give it a go :) I will definitely be doing more of this next summer. Maybe even with the last chillies that have ripened while I was away.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Yep, last night I spooned some of the beef broth into a bowl, let it cool to a safe temperature and Melbcat eagerly drained it. It got the thumbs up. Seems it has to be homemade and very plain with nothing weird added.
Taleya@aussie.zone 1 year ago
She feeds on the pagentry of the cooking process. The seasoning of love
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 year ago
She likes mumthers cooking <3 And probably the smell through the house made her hungry

I’ve had this low-priority to-do in the back of my head for years - “Learn Python”. I’ve just never needed to get across it for any reason when there are other languages I’m more familiar with.
But now my oldest is leaning Python at school. First coding lessons stuff. They’ve got some Logo (the old turtle drawing basic scripting thingy that I learned in the 80’s) module they load and then they’re combining Python and Logo code to draw stuff. It’s actually pretty fun. I find myself debugging his code though. Which is a problem when I don’t know the language syntax.
Watching a complete novice approach a simple problem, I’ve really, really taken for granted how to think like a coder. No wonder people think nerds are from another planet. The problems coders face literally require you to think differently.
So anyway, I’ve started learning Python. I hope I find real uses for it beyond helping the kids with homework.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I learnt logo as my first language as well. It introduced so many useful concepts for later on.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I’ve been meaning to look at it as well. I’m interested in how I could automate things with it.
Have a look at the game engine Godot as well. Its programming language, Gscript, is based on python. It might be a good way to keep your kids interested in coding

I started the day off with a walk and a hearty breakfast. Image
One load of washing has been hung. A leg of lamb has been pulled from the freezer to defrost. The sun is shining, the cat is purring on my lap, so far today is shaping up to be a very good day.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Ok I’m not having muesli for breakfast. I’m getting me some of that!
Aradina@lemmy.ml 1 year ago
First morning waking up at 7 instead of 8. Going to bring it down to 6 in a month or two. I normally suck at maintaining a sleep schedule, but this has been working.
All I did was keep my phone out of my bed and set my lamp to turn on a minute before my alarm goes off. I’ve gone from seven alarms that fail to wake me up because I turn them off in my sleep down to one that wakes me.
I think it’s a good thing, having a set schedule, and I like waking up early enough that it’s quiet outside still. So peaceful.
So fucking cold though
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Congratulations on maintaining it on a public holiday, and working on your sleep schedule in winter
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Hmm I don’t know what to have for dinner tonight.
Seems I may have lost my appetite today after having an argument with someone close to me this afternoon.
Need to keep my mind occupied and busy to stop dwelling on things.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Definitely try and put something together, it’ll help take your mind off the argument. I made my risoni pasta with heaps of veg and it’s taken off some of the edge of the day. That sense of accomplishment and completion is useful.
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Thanks. I’ll try and make something when my tummy settles.
I might just do a lazy 2 minute noodles night tonight.
I might have some risoni but all I have is baby peas and I’d probably need to season it up a bit though I don’t have much.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
hugs
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Thank you, could use some real life ones too.
Baku@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Fucking hell. I couldn’t put it off anymore. I threw up. In a train toilet.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Just put my bins out - it’s getting wimdy out there.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Peach cake is in the oven.
oztrin@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Actually had some energy today, so I tackled some washing (including sheets and doona covers!) as well as doing a grocery order. Ran out of steam about 4.
Also, I get what y’all mean when you’re talking about knives in the throat. 😖wscholermann@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Dear Boomers,
It’s ok to have negative/empty space. You don’t need to fill everything up with shit.
Empty space makes a statement in and of itself.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 year ago
The Whittlesea Public Gardens care a great spot with one of those miniature roadways for kids learning to ride their bikes. There’s just one thing to keep in mind about the place:
It’s located in Thomastown
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 1 year ago
The place is not the level of clean I like yet but much better. It’s only the main kitchen bench (saving that until after dinner) and the bathroom (it will survive). I feel much calmer and under control.
But I have done a good declutter on my bedroom cupboards (should help to have spaces for things) and a big rearrange of my weird sunroom so the plants get their winter sun. Have split it up so I have a little spot to curl up and read, my mediation corner is neat and clean and I have a cleared a spot for the clotheshorse.
Le tired.
Also next medium-big purchase is a bean bag type thing for said reading nook. Any recommendations?
bacon@aussie.zone 1 year ago
i got up late, made an elaborate breakfast, and i can’t believe the sun is shining
i must go for a walk then
Baku@aussie.zone 1 year ago
The motivation is non existent today. We begin our trek back to Melbourne, which will take 2 days. The train doesn’t leave until 8, but breakfast is mandatory and starts at 6. I just want to go home and sleep. The cold isn’t any better today, but it’s not any worse, hopefully it stays that way
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Mrs went to bed early and shut the door cause I was watching tv, this locked her cat out who was PISSED. How do I know? Once I let her in she chose to sleep on my legs. Mrs B’s gotta fuck up real bad for her cat to turn to me.

Off to a good start with the housework I didn’t do yesterday. And note to self: there’s no use getting sad about needing a rest day. If I want to have my weekends full of fun activity I need to not work 12 hour days during the week and burn myself out. That debt must be paid.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Had a good day today. Did some laundry while looking at quotes for car insurance. Mr P had been with the same insurance company for years, and his premium had gone up to a “you’ve got to be joking!” level (lookin’ at you RACV). But once I factored in his age, good history, low mileage/usage, new customer discount etc., the potential for huge savings was too attractive and he switched. Watched the wrestling with the Elder. Did odd things around the place but basically looked after Miniest, who’s still sick.
tone212_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Something strange just happened. From the corner of my eye while watching TV I saw a flash in the sky. About 20 seconds later all of my lights flashed off and on.
Looking at the radar there’s no thunderstorms around. So what was that? 👽
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Here are two of my old kitties that I miss dearly.
Image
That was ‘Tig’ a bengal. He was an arsehole but I respected that. probably noisiest little fucker i’ve ever met.
Image
And that was ‘Sheba’ an abby. Probably the sweetest cat I’ve had. When I snored she’d sit on my chest staring down at me, I’d wake up and I think she was impressed by the noise. When I get another cat it’ll be one of those.
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Wow you sure pick the beautiful high energy breeds!
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 year ago
The bengal was definitely harder…
Here’s what a bengal come down looks like after a toof extraction at the kitty dentist:
