I hate sleeping. A third of your life, down the drain. I wish we didn’t have to sleep.

If we didn’t have to sleep we’d be forced to work 18hrs a day.

Cooking. I love to cook but at minimum 30 minutes for the family. Eat, cleanup at least a hour and a half of your evening gone
saltesc@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I’m like this with shitting. It’s so intensively inconvenient.
“Oooh. I’m in the middle of something, but you go right ahead bowel. Go on, let’s go spend the next five minutes making smell and needing cleaning. I wasn’t in the middle of something anyway. Fucking asshole.”
Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Have you tried not sleeping? I get insomnia. I have stayed up 4 days in a row with back to back work.
It’s thrilling.
KC_Royalz@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Had a small bout a few years ago. Think I had 4 hours of sleep in about 72 hours. I realized I needed to sleep because I kept dropping stuff from micro naps. I’ve always been a night owl but I struggle to make it past midnight anymore

which hallucination was your favorite on day 4?
Malica@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
Feature, not a bug. At least for me. Sleep is time away from the bad place.
nil@piefed.ca 2 weeks ago
really? I wish I could sleep forever without waking up for the rest of my life
rockerface@lemmy.cafe 2 weeks ago
I feel like this often
glups@piefed.social 2 weeks ago
Just like women, I wish I didn’t need sleep, but I want it all the time. Am I right fellow boomers? /s
Binette@lemmy.ml 2 weeks ago
Anyone else feels like we’re supposed to sleep more often than is recommended?
bleustenns@lemmy.ml 2 weeks ago
I’ve been of the (deeply unscientific) opinion that 8 hours of sleep a day is some shit that only works out if you work humane hours. As in, significantly less than 40 a week; ~30, maybe.
tanisnikana@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Sleep is my favorite affordable thing to eat.

When you have nothing to look forward to and uncounciousness is an escape.

In general, people don’t tend to give themselves actual down time anymore (not looking at a screen. taking a walk, reading a book, or sitting around type shit) so when we have that level of relaxation all the built up anxiety and exhaustion comes crashing down all at once. So sleep.
WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 2 weeks ago
Oh really? Start camping in a forest for more than 3 days, see what happens.
darthsundhaft@piefed.social 2 weeks ago
I go to sleep because that’s the only place I can actually be what I want and have what I want but then I keep waking up.

Can’t live the dream if you’re a awake.

Truest meme I’ve seen in a while.
That being said, I once went to the doctor because I was feeling ridiculously fatigued and they revealed I had critically low vitamin d and slightly low iron (i had recently donated blood tbf).
After taking some vitamin d I got better, had a lot more energy.
So maybe more of us have this than we think.
ulterno@programming.dev 2 weeks ago
I too have been getting too less sunlight exposure and too much cigarette smoke exposure whenever I get out.
Perhaps I should check if a relevant blood test is available here.FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago

Unless you have kids… Don’t have kids…
echodot@feddit.uk 2 weeks ago
That’s why I recommend becoming an an aunt or uncle; you have kids but on a schedule and when they start to get irritating you can go back to being childless.
EgoNo4@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
My nephews are so annoying that I would rather take my kid + the sleep deprivation over spending a single day with them…
Dozzi92@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I love being awake and hanging out with my kids. But if they’re at school and I have a free hour, I’m taking a nap, because they definitely make me tired.

the wish is unfulfilled only if you cannot go to sleep
saturn57@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Don’t worry; as soon as your head hits the pillow you will have no desire to sleep.

Man, I miss the good old days when we had some communities and places where we could meet up with people from our neighborhood or whatever. Everything in the world became so much poisonous, most individuals are brain washed and all they care about is “self”. Hell, they even commercialized meeting up with that meetup website.
I literally sat down and thought about this very same topic today: What are we supposed to do when we’re not at work or commuting? Try to form a band? Everybody wants to play a very specific “self” music. Join in a hobby class? No thanks capitalism. Volunteer? I don’t even feel like my time is appreciated there anymore, like on purpose I’m being felt into thinking “you’re doing a free labour for us!!!”
I really miss the times when we could simply meetup and talk about whatever. People had a lot more empathy, and there was a social code that would punish you if you’re being selfish and rude, not it feels the opposite.

I think it’s a millennial/gen z thing, the oldies seem to still find plenty of people to spend time with

I wish I could do whatever I want as an adult.
DarkCloud@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Do an hour of aerobic exercise a day. You’ll have more energy once it becomes a habit.
OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I love cardio. I miss being in the rhythm of a regular run with some biking thrown in. Plus walks with the dog are usually pleasant (when he’s not trying to bath the entire neighborhood in his pee)
Obnomus@lemmy.ml 2 weeks ago
I’m in my 20s and when I sleep in the middle of the day, I get tired so much, it feels like someone sucked out all the energy from my body. Thats why I always sleep at 10 and make sure I get atleast 7 hours of sleep.
Varesti@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
As an adult, I literally can’t do whatever I want, that’s why I always want to go back to sleep.
JustPlainDave@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
Jeez, I feel that. I just started a new job with the hours of 4:00 AM to 12:30 and I have to take a nap every day when I get home.
Renat@szmer.info 2 weeks ago
False. I can’t. My parents want to me studying at college. I can’t finish colege.

I’m so tired, why am I still up
sundray@lemmus.org 2 weeks ago
My doctor once asked if I had any hobbies. I told him the only thing I want to do with my free time is to sleep.
So anyway, I was diagnosed with major depression.
dingus@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Honestly I’m not even depressed but I just in general am a pretty lazy and easily tired person lol. I remember when I got my first full time job in my early 20s. Was my first time working 40 hours a week and I was like holy shit is every adult just tired all the time from this???
Dozzi92@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Yeah, I work a lot some days. I’m an independent contractor so it’s my work, and it ebbs and flows. Some days I work from 730-9, 10-2, then 5-11. On those days, I choose to nap from 2-3pm or so. I could do other stuff, but nothing trumps a nap.
OriginalTangle@feddit.org 2 weeks ago
So jealous! I only got disthymia. My doctor won’t even get me on meds.
Just kidding, not jealous. Depression sucks. They all suck.
