Roomba: “This living room is HUGE!”
justme@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 weeks ago
if that would be real i wonder if it would map the entire park

Somewhere out there there is probably someone who made a water resistant charging station with solar power and a roomba that goes and vacuums their tennis court or whatever. Hell they have the solar outdoor chargers for the automated lawnmowers so I’m sure they could modify one of those.

This is why you microchip your roombas people!
SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 2 weeks ago
I thought roomba was a type of dance
teslekova@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
Nah, that’s the rumba. This poor little guy is a rhombus.
Apytele@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
No that’s a geometric shape, this is a roomie

That’s a scooba. Rare obscure product no one bought. It had a water tank and scrubbed your floor while vacuuming up the dirty water.
THE_GR8_MIKE@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I remember these. Felt kind of weird putting water into an electric vacuum.
nullify3112@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
It was also pretty disgusting to clean. Always a mess of wet gunky hair in the brush and dirty water bin. It sadly didn’t clean super well but was better than not cleaning.

I don’t like the urge to anthropomorphize these small, mobile robots.
“Poor little guy.”
These things are increasingly being used to spy on us, not just vacuum cleaners, but the delivery robots, too. They aren’t cute, they’re intrusive and threatening. I have no sympathy or fuzzy feelings for them. Better to see them for what they are.

No fuzzy feelings for fuzzy logic?

To be honest, nature hasn’t had a proper clean-up since like forever. It’s about time we sent a couple of roomba’s around.
humorlessrepost@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
You gotta clean your floors, you gotta clean your forests… Many, many years of leaves and broken trees, and they’re like, like, so flammable, you touch them and it goes up.
Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Nature has a way of dealing with that from time to time. Several ways, in fact.
ikidd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 weeks ago
If you’re cold, he’s cold. Please, take your Roomba inside tonight.
starman2112@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
It must be so scared :(

My robot vac likes to imagine that there are ghost dimensions behind my couch instead of walls. Maybe it was right and teleported?
MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
One of the touch-and-go? About half a hour battery, bumping into things for navigation, can’t be far.
rumba@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
my 7 series maps completely via front facing camera, no lidar. It was a bumper so it knows when it’s actually touching the thing, but it already knows, it’s just donfirmation.
some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Hey it just like me

The Brave Little Roomba went looking for the master.

That damn cat always parks good Roomba here lolz
nasalpitch17@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
Oh thank goodness it’s made it through the night out there. I hear nature abhors a vacuum
neukenindekeuken@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
This is what I’m here for.
LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
There are many a cat/dog you could name nature and this statement would still hold.
